Broken goal talley during match engine

I'm currently running a save with Crystal Palace. I made it to season three, and Matetta has joined the club permanently after spending two years on loan. For some reason whenever he scores, the in game match engine animation always shows his goal count as 1st goal of the season. And it also mentions that he's scored his 50th goal for palace. No matter how many goals he scores in the game or in others, it never updates. So far,  I've only noticed this problem with this one player, and it did not occur before this season while he played for the club on loan.
