Player Search Results - Relation to World Knowledge

So, I'm trying to do some scouting via the player search, but I suspect that not everyone in my 'knowledge' is showing up there. I am playing in Portugal (3rd division) and my world knowledge is 9%. When I go to the player search, clear all filters, it returns about 7,000 players. I know that I have more than 77,000 players loaded into the game (although I am blanking on how to check current number of players in the database). 

I also have 100% knowledge of players in Portugal, yet when I filter for all players based in Portugual and sort by club, i definitely don't have every player on every team showing up. Some teams in the 2nd division have only 4 players! Yet, if I go to their team page, I can see everyone.

Just curious if there is something I'm missing to see more players in the player search window as my world knowledge would lead me to believe I should be seeing more players here.

I don't have a scouting package purchased, just the world knowledge, which is supposedly 9%. Is there a way I can check how many players are currently in my database, several years into a save?

Using the Portugal example above, I decided to test by loading up the Portugal scouting package - immediately I now have 15,000+ players in the search. So, it appears that 'full' knowledge of a country is not actually full knowledge?

Super interesting. I would definitely say that 100% knowledge of a country does not mean you can search every player in that country.

If you play with attribute masking on (fog of war), scouting knowledge of a particular nation helps you reveal more about the attributes of the players from or based in that nation. 

The players you see in when you have no recruitment package are: 

1. The players you've scouted.

2. The players known by your staff.

This make sense - I've always had it explained that knowledge of a particular nation means knowledge of the players in that nation, not how much you can reveal about their attributes from players in those nations. Good to know! And yes, definitely playing with attribute masking!
