End of the season

So Im playing in England, and had a transfer prevented because of Brexit rule signing more than 6 international under 21 players in a season. I already knew this, but I thought the transfer was going through the next season as it was negotiated after the January window. So the question is, when the hell is the beginning of the next season for the purpose of this rule? This is one of the things that from what I can see is simply not made anywhere near clear enough in the interface, especially when dealing with future transfers. Surely someone with half a brain in your staff like the DOF can at least warn you about this stuff before going through the whole transfer process (I know there is a section in the transfer offer screen about international u21 players signed, but it's not relevant for future arranged transfer).
