November 2012

Leeds away in the League Cup 3rd round was first this month and we were beaten 3-1 too easily for my liking. Defoe scored our goal as our defence seemed to be asleep for half the match.

Manchester United at home was next and it ended in a 0-0 draw after a fairly dull boring match. There were several attempts on goal but nothing special with neither defence having much to do.

Juventus away in the Champions League was next and we managed to trounce them 3-0 securing our place in the next stage. Fletcher, Stevens and Jeffers scored the goals today.

Liverpool away was next and we proceeded to get another league draw this time 1-1. Defoe scored our goal late on as we equalised Darren Bent' 11th minute strike. It was a fairly dull game really as most top end f the table clashes are.

Dave Phillips joins from Sunderland for £2 million and will hopefully be a good left back.

Bristol City at home was next and we got yet another draw, again 1-1, in another dull match. Stevens scored the goal today as i start to consider switching formation for a few weeks to see if we improve.

Stephen Crainey joins Aston Villa for £1.2 million as he has finally run out of usefulness.

Milan away in the Champions League was next and we beat them 2-1 fairly easily with a new 5-3-2 formation. Stevens and Defoe got the goals as we made a good start to progressing out of this group.

James Kerr joins from Leicester for £3.5 million and is already a very fine player who can play in defence or as a striker.

Chelsea away was next and we easily beat them 3-1. Nolan, Defoe and Djordjic scored the goals today as we finished the month in 2nd spot only 3 behind leaders Leeds and with a game in hand on them.

December 2012

Charlton at home was first this month and we got a 1-1 draw out of the match. Fletcher scored our goal and we were unlucky to concede a goal late on earning Charlton the draw.

Leverkusen at home in the Champions League was next and we managed to lose it 1-0 despite dominating the game. It was a last minute goal to which made it much worse but at least we had loads of shots.

Wigan away was next and we ended the match with a 3-3 draw. It was a even game until you look at shots stats where we were better by 3 shots to 1. Still Djordjic scored and Defoe got 2 and we didn't lose making it 14 league games in a row without defeat now.

Porto sign Ricardo Quaresma for £5.25 million after he has failed to impress here in a 18 month career, we did make £4 million on selling him mind you.

Coventry at home was next and we easily thrashed them 4-2 maintaining our undefeated record. Michael Stewart scored a hat-trick and Stevens got the 4th as we reminded the rest we are still there.

Newcastle at home was next and we managed to get a 0-0 draw in a hard fought open game with lots of shots on goal. Both defences played very well as no one scored despite their being 36 shots between us.

Man City at home was next and we beat them 2-0 in front of a full house of 51,000 supporters. Ronaldinho and John Foster scored the goals as we played a second string team against City.

Arsenal away was the last match this month and we managed to easily beat them 3-0. O'Shea, Nolan and Fletcher scored the goals today. Unfortunately Defoe knackered his ankle ligaments putting him out for 2 months alongside Jeffers who is out for another 2 months still with a twisted ankle, Michael Stewart is also out for the long term with cruciate ligament damage. We finished the month in 4th spot only 3 points behind leaders Leeds in a very tight bunch at the top.

January 2013

Leeds at home was first up this month and we got a goalless draw out of it after a dull and boring match. On the bright side James Kerr is already impressing after his recent move here.

Paolo Cannavaro joins Napoli for £2.4 million after never living up to his potential since he joined from 2 years ago and being he was on high wages and no longer required i decided to off load him.

Stoke away in the FA Cup was next and we managed to beat them 3-0 with considerable ease. Goals from Stevens, Djordjic and Kerr eased us into the next round after we dominated the game.

Arsenal at home was next and we lost it 2-1 after Toure picked up a torn calf putting him out for 3 months. Ronaldinho scored goal as we lost a match we should of drawn really.

Everton away was next and we managed to earn a 1-1 draw against them. It was a close match and Ronaldinho scored late on equalising Paul Ifill's early strike.

Birmingham at home was next and we managed to beat them 2-1 in a routine simple win. Kerr and Stevens scored the goals as we once more dominated a match doing just enough to win it.

Everton away in the FA Cup 4th round as next and we easily beat them 4-1. Goals from Shiels, Stevens, Fletcher and Buxton eased us lazily into the next round. We finished the month in 3rd spot 8 points behind Man Utd.

February 2013

Stoke at home was the first match this month and we thrashed them 4-1. Goals from Foster, Fletcher and two from Kerr eased us into 2nd spot in the table as we easily dominated the match.

Wolves away was next and we managed to get a 2-2 draw in a very tight match. Fletcher and Stevens scored the goals as we began to prepare for the Champions League once more by resting a few key players.

Burnley away was next and we easily secured another win with a fine 3-0 performance. Fletcher, Ronaldinho, and Stevens scored the goals in a match we didn't let Burnley have a single shot all game.

Galatasaray at home in the Champions League was next and we got a simple 1-1 draw after picking up a few minor injuries to key players. Stevens scored our goal as we remained in 2nd spot in our group.

Coventry at home in the FA Cup 5th Round was next and we managed to beat them 2-1 with a second string team. Dean Stevens and James Kerr scored our goals as we progressed to the next stage once more.

Galatasaray away was next in the Champions League and we managed to beat them 3-1 with goals from Djordjic, Stevens and Ronaldinho. We slipped to 3rd in the group but only on goal difference as it is a 3 way tie at the top with us, Milan and Leverkusen all on 7 points after 4 games.

Sunderland at home was next and we beat them 2-0 with ease. Stevens and Kerr scored our goals as we ran rings around Sunderland all match. James Kerr is looking like a very good buy indeed with a string of great performances now and will be the long term replacement for Jeffers and Ronaldinho. We finished the month in 3rd spot 5 behind leaders Man Utd and 6 ahead of 4th placed Arsenal.

March 2013

Man Utd away was next and we managed to get a 0-0 draw in a match where we had more shots but they had the greater possession. My gamble on playing Toure before he was fully recovered from his Calf Strain backfired as he buggered it up again putting him out for the rest of the season most likely, still James Kerr looked good back in defence today instead of as a striker.

Milan at home was next in the Champions League and we managed to lose it 2-1 despite having most of the possession. Dean Stevens scored our goal as Galatasaray beat Leverkusen making it a last match fight for progress this year.

Arsenal at home in the FA Cup Quarter Final was next and we beat them 3-2 progressing to the Semi Final once more. Kerr, Defoe and Stevens scored our goals also Nolan got himself sent of for kicking Ashley Cole.

Leverkusen away in the Champions League was next and we beat them 2-1 and thus managed to reach the Quarter Finals for 3rd year running. Defoe and Jeffers scored the goals after Stevens was taken off injured.

Tottenham at home was next and we surprisingly lost to them 2-1. Djordjic got our goal as we were outplayed and out fought by a sprightly Tottenham team.

Bradford away was next and we managed to defeat them 1-0. Ronaldinho scored our goal in a some what dull and boring match. We finished the month in 3rd spot 8 points behind leaders Man Utd and 4 point ahead of Arsenal in 4th.

April 2013

Barcelona away was next in the Champions League Quarter Final and we lost it 1-0 in a disappointing performance but at least we can bounce back in the home leg as a 1-0 deficit is not much.

Wolves at Ewood Park in the FA Cup Semi Final was next and we lost it 2-0 after a poor defensive performance from the team. It wasn't the best of games for us but never mind there is still the Champions League.

Liverpool at home was next and we lost to them 1-0 pretty much scuppering any challenges for the title this season. It was a odd match in that we easily controlled the game yet lost to a single Liverpool attack that saw them score.

Coventry away was next and we managed to win a game at last 3-1. Sevens and two from Jeffers were our scorers today as we attempted to kick start our season.

Barcelona at home in the Champions League Quarter Final was next and we got a 2-2 draw but lost 3-2 on aggregate. Stevens and Jeffers scored our goals in a match that Barcelona controlled from the start making our narrow aggregate loss harder to take.

Bristol City away was next and we managed to beat them 1-0 probably securing 3rd place for us at worse. Stevens scored the goal today as we look to finish the season in style.

Wigan at home was next and we thrashed them 4-0 in a very easy match. The goals came from Toure, Kerr, Jeffers and Massimo Mariano, his first senior goal for the club. We finished the month in 3rd spot, were we are likely to remain.

May 2013

Chelsea at home was first this month and we managed to beat them 3-2 in a close fought exciting match. Stevens got a goal and Nolan got the other two.

Charlton was next away and we lost it 2-1 to a team that simply outplayed us on the day. Scott Bell scored our goal in a rare first team appearance for him.

Newcastle away was the last match for us this season and we beat them 2-1 to finish on a high. Nolan and Defoe scored the goals as we finished the season with our 2nd highest points total ever.

Seasonal Expectations and Summer Transfers

Claudio Pizarro joins from Bayern on a bosman

Landry Bonnefoi joins from Lazio on a bosman

Jamie Davis and Simon Davies were released

Guillermo Feijoo joins from Atletico Madrid on a bosman

Theo Molenaar joins from Ajax on a bosman for £975k

Phil Neville joins from Leeds on a bosman

Ricardo Gardner joins from Crystal Palace on a bosman

Raul joins from Wimbledon on a bosman

Rui Rocha joins Middlesborough for £2.8 million

The summer transfer season saw me leaving my cheque book at home for a change with several bosman and unprotected contract transfers bringing in some key players either at the start or at the end of their careers.

Claudio Pizarro and Raul bring with them a different style of football and will hopefully spark some life into the strikers who up until now haven't had an awful lot of real competition for places yet.

Phil Neville and Ricardo Gardner will both help bolster the defence, whilst Rui Rocha leaving was good for him as he was never gonna get a game with us as he wasn't up to the grade.

Theo Molenaar will be a very good defensive midfielder and will replace Kevin Nolan in the long term. The rest are more likely to feature as back up layers who add further depth to the squad.

My aims for the season are too score as many points as last season and do better in the cup competitions. Winning the title would be nice and is possible but not if i have a good cup run or two.

August 2013

HJK of Finland were the first opponents at home in the Champions League qualifiers. We won the match fairly easily 2-1 thanks to goals from Ronaldinho and Jeffers, it was a fairly lazy match being it was the first of the season.

Bradford away was the first league match of the season and we started of with a 2-0 win. Goals from Buxton and Fletcher started this season's league campaign of in style but as of yet none of the old big name stars have yet to feature in the team.

Wilfred Bouma joins on a bosman from Man Utd adding some depth to the left wing and plenty of experience too. Better still Rio Ferdinand signs for us also on a bosman from Man Utd.

HJK away was next and we got a disappointing 1-1 draw, still we won 3-2 on aggregate. Djordjic scored our goal as both Claudio Pizarro and Guillermo Feijoo both made there debuts for the club. Barcelona, Hajduk Split and Galatasaray await us in the first group stage.

Chelsea sign Stuart Collins for £1.5 million after he had failed to impress in defence. Scott Bell joins Liverpool for £4.2 million after making no real impression since his transfer from Peterborough 5 years ago.

Wolves away was next and we got a 0-0 draw out of the match. It was a close match even if we did have twice as many shots. Rio made his debut and Raul came on as a sub for Pizarro who was covering for the injured Defoe. We finished the month in 7th spot which is quite a good start for us.

September 2013

Glen Johnson moves to Liverpool for £2.4 million partly because we have plenty of defenders and partly because he had never really impressed despite playing 20-30 games a season.

Stewart Murphy joins from the youth academy and looks like a fairly useful keeper but nothing special.

Galatasaray away in the Champions League was next and we trounced them 3-1 in a very easy match. Ronadinho, Raul and Djordjic scored the goals as a policy of saving the old stars for the important games seems to work so far with Raul and Ronaldinho making their first starts and Pizarro coming on as a sub tonight.

Stoke at home was next and we got a 1-1 draw against them in a tight close evenly fought game. Ronaldinho scored our goal as Theo Molenaar had his first start for the club. Stoke's young Italian winger caught my eye and has been added to my short list for future signings.

Barcelona at home was next and we managed to hang on long enough to only lose 2-1 as they totally out classed us. Raul scored our goal from a Ronaldinho cross.

West Ham away was next and we managed to get a 2-0 win. It was a match we totally dominated from the start and sub Raul scored both goals in a 4 minute burst after coming on with 15 mins left to play. Rio Ferdinand picked up a thigh strain in the match putting him out for a month.

Hajduk Split away was next in the Champions League and we easily beat them 2-1. The goals came from Jeffers and Stevens as we settled ourselves into an easy 2nd spot in our group at the half way point.

Man Utd at home was next and we managed to get a slight arse kicking as they won 6-3. It was a nightmare day in goal for Stephen Blake but the defence was at fault too. Ronaldinho, Stevens and Jeffers scored our goals in what was actually a even game. We finished the month in 12th spot 11 points of the lead but with 2 games in hand over them.

October 2013

Arsenal at home was next and we managed to stuff them 3-0 very easily putting them down to 19th spot. Ronaldinho, Fletcher and Stevens scored the goals for us as we convincingly bounced back from our heavy defeat against Man Utd.

Liverpool away was next completing a tricky little run of clubs with a 0-0 draw against them. It was a fairly close match that was also rather dull really with both clubs having had a lot of players away at internationals just before the match.

Burnley away was next and we managed to get a 2-1 win moving us back into contention in the league. Ronaldinho and Stevens scored the goals with Ronaldinho being on a very good run of form recently.

Hajduk Split at home was next in the Champions League and we got another win over them winning 2-0. Goals from Fletcher and Stevens all but guaranteed our progress to the next group stage once more.

Newcastle at home was next and we beat them 3-0 fairly easily. Goals from Jeffers, Djordjic and Toure eased us up the table into 4th spot whilst also putting pressure on Newcastle's boss and also hopefully boosting my chances of Signing Rooney when his contract goes unprotected in the new year.

Wolves sign Richard Kay for £1.5 million after he hadn't really done very much after joining from the youth academy, not his fault that there were plenty of good defenders here already but he is surplus to needs.

Galatasaray at home in the Champions League was next and we easily stuffed them 3-0 gaining progress into the next stage of the competition. Goals from Jeffers twcie and Stevens helped us on our way.

Leeds away was next and we managed to beat the leaders 4-1. Two goals each from Ronaldinho and Stevens saw us easily out class the Leeds team. We finished the month in 4th place 3 points behind Leeds with a game in hand still.

November 2013

Everton away in the League Cup was next and we managed to 3-2 in a tight game. Ronaldinho, Stevens and Djordjic scored the goals as we started another cup run that will earn us a fair bit of money i hope.

Fulham at home was next and we won 1-0 thanks to another Ronaldinho goal. It was a dull game with few chances but Ronaldiho took his tally this season to as many as last season with less than half of the season gone.

Barcelona away in the Champions League was next and we got a 1-1 draw with them. It wasn't a very good match as we had both qualified for the next stage already but at least Stevens scored and we didn't lose this time. Atalanta, Bordeaux and Real Madrid await us in the next stage.

Wigan at home was next and we beat them 2-1 in a hard fought match. Phil Neville made his Carlisle debut whilst Ronaldiho and Stevens scored the goals for us.

Atalanta at home in the Champions League was next and we beat them 1-0 in a easy win for us. Jeffers scored our goal as i look to make a few signings in the Winter transfer window for unprotected contract transfers to give the squad a touch more depth and to boost the morale.

Bristol City away was next and we beat them quite easily 3-1. Goals from Nolan, Ronaldinho and Jeffers maintained our charge for the title. Ricardo Gardner made his first appearance for us from the subs bench today.

Man Utd in the League Cup away was next and we unsurprisingly lost 3-0. To be honest the League up is hardly a priority so the loss is not too much of a problem. Several players were signed up for transfer on 15th December when the transfer window opens with a few more added to the watch list as well as ear marked for a summer transfer.

Tottenham at home was next and we beat them 1-0 in a tough match. Jeffers scored the only goal from our only shot, whilst Wilfred Bouma got his first start for the club and with Raul, Pizarro and Molenaar all making rare starts it was a second team really that won the match. We finished the month in 2nd spot 2 points behind Man Utd but with a game in hand and 2 games in hand plus 2 points in front of 3rd placed Leeds.

December 2013

Real Madrid were first up this month in the Champions League and we beat them 1-0 away in a comprehensive victory. Stevens scored our goal late on as we went to the top of our group.

Charlton away was next and we easily thrashed them 5-1. The goals came from Feijoo, Nolan, Jeffers, and two from Djordjic. This win helped boost us closer to Man Utd and also stopped some of the squad whinging that we weren't doing well enough.

Chelsea at home was next and we beat them 1-0 in a close match that should of ended in a draw really. Stevens scored the goal that put us to the top of the table, a place where i hope we remain for the rest of the season.

Nottingham Forest at home was next and we only managed a 1-1 draw in a very even match. Jeffers scored our goal but Di Giacomo scored a late equaliser for Forest spoiling our day.

Silvio Martinez joins from Newcastle on a bosman transfer for £2.8 million and will add depth and ability to the defence. Sebastien Frey also joins on a bosman transfer for £3.9 million from Roma and will give the goalkeepers a big boost for the run to the end of the season. Carlos de Souza Vieria joins from Milan on a bosman transfer for £1.8 million and will also add depth and ability to the defence.

Everton away was next and we lost 2-1 in a match we should of easily won. Ronaldinho scored our goal but Everton scored twice late on after we had been reduced to 10 men having used all 3 subs and losing Toure through an injury with 20 minutes to go.

Birmingham away was next and we got a nice and easy 2-0 win over them. Ferdinand scored his first for the club and Stevens got the other as we maintained pressure at the top end of the table.

Liverpool at home was next and we beat them 3-1 with considerable ease really. Fletcher got a goal and Stevens scored twice, Scott Bell scored for Liverpool getting one back against us for selling him i imagine.

Chelsea away was next and in a tough game we managed to sneak a 2-1 win. Stevens and Jeffers scored the goals as we finished the month in 2nd spot a point behind Man Utd but they have a game in hand.

January 2014

Alexandros Tziolis joins from Bristol Rovers for £600k further bolstering the defence.

Bradford at home was first up this month and we got a fairly easy 2-1 over them. The goals came from Nolan and Ferdinand who has proven to be a great signing this season so far.

Bury away in the FA Cup was next and we managed to just about do enough to beat them 2-1. Stevens scored both goals in a match we never looked like winning despite having by far the greater game.

Arsenal away was next and we beat them 2-1 heaping more embarrassment on them as they slipped to 14th. Jeffers and Stevens scored the goals with Stevens moving top of the scoring list with 12 goals so far this season.

Christol Alexiou joins Crystal Palace for £2.6 million via a bosman transfer as he has been deemed useless for 3 years now.

Burnley at home was next and we easily beat them 2-0 even though Rio Ferdinand was sent off after only 35 minutes for flattening their striker. Stevens and Djordjic scored our goals as we won our 6th game in a row.

Sheffield Wednesday away in the FA cup was next and we won it 2-0 after a simple match that we controlled from start to finish. Defoe, on his return from injury, and Raul scored the goals as we progressed to the next round.

Steven Bird joins us from Tottenham for £1.6 million and he is a great Centre Back prospect for the future.

Wolves at home was next and we won it 1-0 after a a very one sided match. No idea how only Defoe scored but at least we are getting the shots in once more. We finished the month in 2nd spot 4 points behind Man Utd but 19 points ahead of 3rd placed Charlton.

February 2014

Man Utd away was first up this month in a crucial title deciding match and we managed to lose the match 1-0 despite having twice as many shots. They did have greater possession but it was still disappointing to lose and probably buggers up our title shot.

Wigan sign Ashley Woodley for £1.5 million less than half what i paid for him but still its something after another prospect has failed to deliver.

Bordeaux away in the Champions League was next and we easily beat them 3-1 thanks to goals from Stevens and two from Djordjic. Ronaldinho went off injured with a groin strain putting him out for a month, but at least Phil Neville is an adequate cover for Toure whose off in the Africans Nations again.

Newcastle away in the FA Cup as next and we managed to beat them 2-1 fairly comfortably with goals from Defoe and Djordjic but Rio pulled his hamstring putting him out for a month.

Bordeaux at home was next in the Champions League and we easily thrashed them 4-0 confirming our place in the Quarter Final once more. The goals came from Jeffers, Defoe, O'Shea and Djordjic but again a key player got an injury, this time it was Nolan out for a month with a calf strain.

Notts County sign Michael Stewart for £375k despite only having 3 months left on his contract

West Ham at home was next and we beat them 3-0 despite only have a few shots in an otherwise close match. Stevens, Defoe and Djordjic scored the goals today as we finally had a game with no injuries. We finished the month 2nd 8 behind Man Utd but with a game in hand and 18 ahead of 3rd placed Chelski.

March 2014

Fulham away was next and we beat them 2-1 in a close hard fought match. Raul and O'Shea scored our goals as we eased towards a 2nd place finish minimum whilst i also blooded a few younger players.

Atalanta away in the Champions League was next and we fielded a second string team and still won the match 2-1. Ronaldinho and Molenaar scored the goals as we were strictly speaking out played on the night but obviously possess enough quality in reserve to still win games.

Fulham sign Dean Shiels for £2.2 million after he failed to make it into the first team squad, its a shame to see him go as he's been here since i joined the club many years ago.

Leeds away in the FA Cup was next and we beat them 2-0 very easily. Raul and Ronaldinho scored the goals as we once more progressed to the Semi Final of the world's most prestigious competition.

Real Madrid at home in the Champions League was next and we beat them 2-0 making it 6 wins out of 6 in this stage. Defoe and Molenaar scored the goals as we were drawn against Valencia in the Quarter Final, Ronaldinho once more injured his groin and will be out for probably the rest of the season.

Leeds at home was next and we managed to beat them 2-1 despite picking up more injuries to key players. This time Simon Buxton strained his ankle ligaments putting him out for the rest of the season. Stevens and Jeffers scored the goals for us today in a fairly close match.

Stoke away was next and we erm well er lost 1-0 after being totally played off the park. The only player who did any good was Sebastian Frey as he only let them score 1 goal. We finished the month 2nd 5 points behind United and 19 ahead of Charlton with 8 games left.

April 2014

Valencia away was the next match in the Champions League and we got a 1-1 draw against them. It was a fairly close match and Dean Stevens got our goal as we carried an away goal into the return leg.

Manchester United at Upton Park in the FA Cup Semi was next and we managed to lose on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Stevens scored our goal but Scott Parker scored an equaliser in Fergie Time (4th minute of injury time if you were wondering).

Everton at home was next and we got a 1-1 draw in a dull game. Raul scored our goal shortly before Rio Ferdinand was sent off for flattening his brother Anton, still we do have a slight gap over 3rd so who's to worry.

Tottenham away was next and we got a 0-0 draw. It was a very dull and boring game partly due to Jeffers being sent off after 10 minutes forcing us to go into a defensive mode of play.

Valencia at home in the Champions League was next and we easily beat them 4-1 winning 5-2 on aggregate. Ferdinand, Molenaar, Fletcher and Raul scored the goals and there was a nice little punch up in the first half with both of us having a player sent off.

Wigan away was next and we managed to defeat them 2-0. Ronaldinho and Jeffers scored the goals as we more or less settled into a 2nd place finish as i dont think we'll catch Man Utd by the end of the season.

Charlton at home was next and we managed to sneak a 1-0 win over them. It was a close game and Raul's goal was pretty much the only shot on target by anyone in the entire match.

Liverpool at home in the Champions League semi final was next and we beat them 1-0 in a game we just about edged, Fletcher scored our goal. We finished the month in 2nd spot 18 ahead of Charlton but 8 behind Man Utd with 4 games left.

May 2014

Nottingham Forest away was first this month and we beat them 3-0. It was an easy match with Raul, Fletcher and Djordjic all scoring as we looked towards the next crucial match.

Liverpool away in the Champions League was next and we made it to the final for the first time ever after a 2-1 loss but a 2-2 aggregate away goals win. Simon Buxton scored our vital goal from the penalty spot with only minutes to go, Dortmund await us in the final a team we haver not played for 5 years now.

Bristol City at home was next and we only managed a 1-1 draw handing Man Utd the title. Djordjic got our goal as we tried to do the double but failed mainly because we were too far behind really.

Newcastle away was next and we got another 1-1 draw as we looked ahead to the Champions League final next week. Buxton scored the goal today in a game we should of won really.

Birmingham at home was next and we lost it 1-0 but i was playing a 2nd team knowing full well we'd finish no where else other than 2nd and it also gave the key players a rest before the CL Final.

Dortmund at the Stade Roi Baudouin in Brussels for the Champions League final was the last game of this season. It was a closely fought exciting match but we ended up losing 4-3 after a late Roque Santa Cruz goal won the match for Dortmund. Raul scored twice for us and Stevens got the other as we did manage to earn £3.5 million for playing in the final.

Summer Transfers and Seasonal Expectations

John Welsh joins from Inter for £14.25 million

Efthimis Padelidis joins Charlton for £1.8 million

Wayne Rooney joins for £12.5 million from Newcastle

Jose Antonio Reyes joins from Dortmund for £11.25 million

Francis Jeffers joins Roma for £3.1 million

The stadium was expanded by 16,000 seats at a cost of £14.75 million taking the capacity upto 67,000 which will help pay for this vast wage bill i have. The wage bill is up to £60 million a year now. The aim this season is to try and win something this year.

Rooney and Reyes will both bolster the strikeforce and add new options to it, whilst the sale of Jeffers makes way for them in the strikeforce. Welsh was signed to bosst the defence which lacked a world class player who was still at his prime, Rio although very good is only going to get worse from here on in. Padelidis was sold too clear out some of the unneeded defenders.

I tried getting Neil Clement to rejoin us on a free transfer over the summer to add another world class defender to the club but he turned us down. Several bids came in for players but as it was ones i wanted to keep i had to turn them down, there are quite a few fringe players listed though and I'll be trying to sell at least one more striker during the season as well as Pizarro who was nothing special last year.

August 2014

Man Utd at Wembley in the Charity Shield was first up and we drew 1-1 but beat them on penalties. Nolan scored our goal as we avenged our FA Cup Semi penalty loss.

Man Utd at home was the first league match for us and we lost 2-0 to them. We were never on top of this game and deserved to lose really, i suppose you could consider it payback for winning the Charity Shield.

Tottenham at home was next and we lost it 1-0 despite dominating the match. We had most of the possession, more shots but lost to a lucky goal near the end of the match. Still it is early days this season and the squad has gone through some big changes. It was a record attendance of 55906.

Bury away was next and we got out first point of the season after a 1-1 draw. It was a dull game really and only Nolan's goal was a bright point for our team. We finished the month in 19th spot after a fairly bad start.

September 2014

Bradford away was the first match this month and we finally won a game. Goals from Rooney, Reyes, Buxton and Nolan saw us win very easily 4-0 as we finallyfigured out how to score and win games.

Rangers away in the Champions League was next and we got a very disappointing 0-0 draw despite totally dominating the game. With Rangers having no shots at all and us having 15 we should of won this match easily.

Charlton at home was next and we won it 3-0 very comfortably. Defoe, Fletcher and Vieira scored the goals as we totally out classed them. A few teams are sniffing around a few players with Defoe the main target interesting them but i'd be happy if they bid for him as he isn't really needed and would also fetch a decent price plus reduce the ridiculously high £63 million wage bill.

Roma at home in the Champions League was next and we got another 0-0 draw. This time we had 74% of the possession but with Defoe picking up an injury early on the attack was limited somewhat and couldn't take advantage of the possession.

West Ham away was next and we took them apart winning 3-0 despite only having 40% of the ball. O'Shea, Fletcher and Djordjic scored whilst Raul excelled throughout the match.

Dinamo at home in the Champions League was next and we finally got a win beating them 1-0. Fletcher scored the goal proving my recent decisions to reject Man Utd's £17 million bids for him was right.

Fulham at home was next and we beat them 3-1 with a second string team. Raul, Reyes and Kerr all scored as we made it 4 wins in a row. We finished the month in 4th spot 8 points behind Man United.

October 2014

Liverpool away was first up this month and we lost to them 2-0 in a match that was closer than the scoreline shows. Worse was Reyes picking up an injury putting him out for 3 weeks after twisting his knee.

Sheffield Wednesday away was next and we only got a 1-1 draw thanks to Kevin Nolan's late equaliser. It was a close match so i suppose the result was fair but i don't expect to be down here at this point of the season.

West Ham sign Ricardo Gardner for £300k being he never did much since joining late season and its £1.3 mill of the wage bill too.

Dinamo away in the Champions League was next and we beat them 2-0. It was a easy game and goals from Rooney and Welsh secured us the win easing us towards the next group stage.

Middlesborough at home was next and we drew 0-0 with them. It was a very disappointing match in that we easily dominated it yet failed to score despite 20 shots, bloody Rooney has a lot to answer for if he don't start scoring soon.

Rangers at home in the Champions League was next and a totally dominant performance saw us win 1-0. Nolan scored the goal that put us into the next group stage and also which will also pick the team up so that a decent run in the premiership can be formed.

Everton away was next and we won the game 3-2. Stevens scored twice and the other goal was an own goal as we finally looked like a team capable of scoring goals at long last.

Bolton at home in the league cup was next and we beat them easily with a less than full strength team 3-1. James Kerr scored two and Raul got the third as we eased into the next round. We finished the month in 6th spot which to be honest is way lower than i expected at this point of the season especially as we are 13 points of the top spot.

November 2014

Leeds at home was first up this month and we beat them 2-1 in a match that we should of done better in really. Still Buxton scored a penalty and Stevens also scored too as we eased up the table a bit. It was a new record attendance of 56863 too today.

Roma away in the Champions League was next and we lose a close match 2-1. On the plus sight Rooney scored his 3rd goal for the club in his 13th game a record to rival Heskey's. We were drawn with Barcelona, Bayern and Lazio in the next stage.

Arsenal away was next and we thrashed them 4-0. Djordjic scored two and Rooney and Nolan also scored as we taught them how to play football today as we climed a bit higher up the table.

Newcastle at home was next and we beat them 2-0 in what was a even match with few chances. Nolan and Rooney scored which was good as Rooney has scored in 3 consecutive matches now finally proving to be the player i thought he was. It was a record attendance of 59820 today still some way short of full.

Barcelona at home in the Champions League was next and we beat them 2-1 in a clsoe match. Defoe and Stevens scored but he then had to go off injured with a groin strain and is out for a month, so its Defoe's turn to shine now.

Chelsea away was next and we beat them 1-0 confining their manager to the sack. Fletcher scored the goal for us maintaining our decent run of form in the premiership which i hope to keep going into the new year.

Man City in the league cup was next and we beat them 3-0 easily. The goals came from Neville, Raul and Molenaar as some of the other players got a game today, Darlington await us in the next Round.

Birmingham at home was last this month and we beat them 3-1 with a great deal of ease. Fletcher scored two and Defoe got the other as we finished the month in 2nd spot 11 behind Man Utd.

December 2014

Lazio away in the Champions League was the first match this month and we thrashed them 4-1 with a very easy game. Kerr, Rooney, Nolan and Defoe all scored as we picked up another fine European win.

Wolves away was next and we beat them very easily 4-0. Reyes got two and Rooney and Kerr also scored as we maintained a great run of form. A few players also signed final contracts on lower wages which helps the club somewhat.

Darlington away in the League Cup was next and we beat them 2-1 fairly easily. Stevens and Djordjic scored the goals as we progressed to a Semi Final against Birmingham.

Stoke at home was next and we beat them 2-0 in a very well controlled lazy win. Kerr and Djordjic scored the goals as we 8 wins in a row in the premiership now but it is still a long way ahead to United.

Bristol City away was next and we got a 0-0 draw in a fairly dull match really. Nobody looked like scoring as both defences played very well today especially Matthew Evans for Bristol one of my long term targets.

Man Utd away was next and we beat them 3-1 in a somewhat easier win than i expected to be honest. O'Shea, Nolan and Stevens scored as we closed the gap at the top with this win.

Liverpool at home was next and we beat them 2-1 in a very close tight match. Buxton and Rooney scored the goals as we maintained are run in the premiership, 13 games undefeated now. We finished the month 2nd behind Man Utd by 7 points.

January 2015

Shrewsbury at home in the FA Cup was next and we somehow scraped a 4-3 win over them. **** knows what they had for brekkie but they were out for the win and thankfully fielding a full strength team was a good idea. Nolan, Fletcher, Stevens and Reyes all scored today.

Glenn Stimpson joins Leicester for £2.5 million after failing to impress and i have better younger midfielders than him.

Bury at home was next and we beat them 2-0 with considerable ease. Nolan and Buxton scored the goals today as i eased a bit further away from 3rd spot. Rio Ferdinand made a 7 min sub appearance at the end to say farewell to his fans as he's on the move to a smaller club called Bolton for £250k. It saves me £3 million a year in wages and frankly after last season he is not up to football at this level any more.

Tottenham away was next and we got a 1-0 win after a hard fought close match. Dean Stevens scored the goal from a Rooney cross right on the stroke of half time. It was a bit of a struggle late on in the 2nd half but we managed to hold out for the win.

West Ham at home was next and we managed to get a nice and easy 3-0 win making it 5 wins in a row and 16 without defeat. Buxton, Stevens and Rooney scored the goals it was Buxton's 5th of the season is best ever.

Bizarrely Wilfred Bouma joins Millwall for £65k right now rejecting 9 other offers for a some bosman move, still I'm not complaining its a further £1.3 mill of the wage bill.

Man City at home in the FA Cup was next and we beat them 3-0 very easily indeed. Rooney got a brace and Stevens got the 3rd as we coasted past them into the next round of the FA Cup.

Birmingham in the League Cup Semi was next and we managed to beat them 2-0 at home. Toure and Molenaar scored the goals as we totally dominated and controlled the match.

Bradford at home was next and we beat them 2-0 in yet another very one sided match. Nolan scored both the goals inside the first 20 minutes and we just sat back and defended for the rest of the match. We finished the month in 2nd spot 5 behind Man Utd but 10 ahead of 3rd placed Liverpool.

February 2015

Fulham away was first up this month and we ended up drawing the match 1-1 despite outclassing them totally. Molenaar scored our goal as we lost some of our recent gains in the table.

Charlton away was next and we easily thrashed them 4-0. Kerr, Nolan, Stevens and Rooney all scored goals in a truly one sided game, we had 27 shots they had 2 both of which were off target.

Bayern away in the Champions League was next and we managed to get a 1-1 draw against them. Djordjic scored our goal early on but Bayern got a late equaliser, but we still top this group. This draw meant we had now gone 23 games with out a defeat in all competitions a new club record!

Arsenal away in the FA Cup was next and we somehow only drew 0-0 despite owning the Gooner *******s once more. 23 fecking shots on goal and not a single one went in i reckon its time to change religion.

Bayern at home in the Champions League was next and we got another draw agaisnt them this time 1-1. Molenaar scored the goal for us late on equalising the match. Still i'd say i have a good chance of reaching the Quarter Finals still.

Everton at home was next and we beat them 1-0 at a big cost though icon_frown.gif . Defoe scored the goal but had to go off injured with strained knee ligaments for 3 weeks, that was bad but Defoe was replacing Rooney who had torn his groin muscle putting him out for 3 months.

Birmingham away in the League Cup Semi Final was next and we managed to get a 0-0 draw. It was a odd match in that we had more shots but they had most of the possession throughout the match, it was only counter attacks that kept us in the game, still we now get Man Utd in the final.

Arsenal in the FA Cup replay at home was next and we beat them 3-2 in a thrilling match. Kerr scored twice, as he went back to his alternate role of a striker from his centre back duties, and Massimo Mariano scored a hell of a goal late on to clinch the wing ala Ryan Giggs back in 1999. We finished the month in 2nd spot 5 points behind Man Utd with a game in hand and 11 ahead of Liverpool.

March 2015

Barcelona away in the Champions League was next and we got another 0-0 draw in a somewhat disappointing game really. If it wasn't for a top class defensive performance we would of lost this easily. Still Lazio beating Bayern meant we qualified for the QF anyway.

Liverpool away in the FA Cup was next and we managed to get a 1-1 draw. Another fine defensive display saw us hang on for the replay at home. Raul scored our goal but the chance of a replay was down to John O'Shea in a superb man of the match performance.

Lazio at home in the Champions League was next and we managed to win 1-0. Ronaldinho scored the only goal in a rather dull match really. We were drawn against Roma in the Quarter Final which should prove to be a good game.

Sheffield Wednesday at home was next and we managed to beat them 2-0 after a bit of squad tinkering. Reyes and Kerr scored the goals as they were the two strikers today, their first pairing up front too i might add.

Liverpool at home in the FA Cup replay was next and we got a 1-1 draw but won 4-3 on penalties. Nolan scored our goal in extra time equalising Darren Bent's goal 3 mins earlier. We now face Nottingham Forest in the Semi.

Man Utd in the League Cup Final was next and we managed to beat them 2-0 despite them trying to kick us off the park. Buxton and Toure scored the goals whilst Ronaldinho is out for 3 weeks after a twisted knee, whilst Martinez and Molenaar also picked up knocks today. We finished the month in 2nd spot 5 behind United still.

April 2015

Roma at home in the Champions League was first up this month and we got a 1-1 draw after a fairly uneventful match. Defoe scored our goal and hopefully we'll win the return away leg.

Nottingham Forest at the Reebok Stadium, we managed to thrash them 3-0 in a very easy game. Reyes, Kerr and Djordjic scored the goals as we eased into yet another FA Cup Final this time against Stoke.

Middlesborough away was next and we managed to beat them 2-0 in a fairly dull and boring match. Stevens and Defoe scored the goals as we kept up the pressure on Man Utd in the title race.

Leeds away was next and we managed to beat them 2-1 in a close hard fought match. Stevens and Vieira scored the goals as we moved within 3 points of United as they only managed a draw today.

Alexandros Tziolois was given a free transfer as he is ***** to put it bluntly.

Roma away in the Champions League was next and we managed to grab a goal from our single shot to win it 1-0 and 2-1 on aggregate. Roma went for the 0-0 draw from the start knowing full well their away goal would get them through but thankfully for us Nolan scored with 3 minutes left to play.

Birmingham away was next and we managed to get a 2-2 draw in a open game. Reyes and Djordjic scored the goals as we edged to within 2 points of United after they lost to Stoke and we have a game in hand.

Bristol City at home was next and we managed to get a 1-1 draw out of it. Ronaldinho scored the goal as we totally dominated the match with most of the possession but not enough shots on goal to make it a victory for us.

Milan away in the Champions League Semi Final was next and we managed to thrash them 5-0. Djordjic scored two as well as Molenaar, Stevens and Reyes as we showed that English teams are better than Italian teams as Man Utd beat Inter 1-0 too. We finished the month in 2nd spot 4 points behind Man Utd with a game in hand.

May 2015

First up was Stoke away and we managed to beat them 1-0. It was a fairly close match actually and with the amount of games coming up i fielded a under strength team so i was happy with Stevens getting the winner for us early on in the 2nd half.

Milan at home in the Champions League Semi Final was next and we managed to beat them 1-0 despite resting quite a few players. We won it 6-0 on aggregate with Fletcher scoring the goal today and we'll be facing Man Utd in the Final this year.

Stoke in the FA Cup final was up next and we managed to lose it 1-0 after a somewhat lacklustre performance from the team. Still Stoke deserved the win on the day's performance and i can still win the league and Champions League yet to go with the League Cup.

Newcastle away was next in a bunch of very close games to finish off the season. We managed to win this match 1-0 thanks to a goal from Molenaar despite being outplayed for most of the game.

Chelsea at home was next and we beat them 2-0 with goals from Rooney and Reyes as we maintained our challenge for the title. United beat Leeds 2-1 today to remain 4 points clear with us having a game in hand and 2 games in total. Today we also broke the premiership unbeaten record clocking up our 28th game without defeat.

Arsenal at home was next and we managed to beat them 2-0 in a very one sided match. Nolan scored both our goals and left the title down to the final day with us at home to Wolves and Man Utd of to Liverpool, so i hate to say this but come on you scouse *******s.

Wolves at home was the final premiership match of the season and we managed to get a 1-1 draw in a very frustrating game were we made plenty of chances but failed to get more than one goal past former Brunton Park hero Rhys Evans. Defoe scored our goal but the best news of the day was hearing that Darren Bent had scored a 89th minute winner for Liverpool meaning we were the Champions on account of having scored 6 more goals than Man Utd being our goal differences were identical.

Man Utd in the Champions League Final was next from Vienna and we managed to lose it on ****ing penalties after drawing 1-1 after extra time. Kerr scored our goal early on but Cherno Samba equalised with 5 mins left. It wouldn't of been so bad if Djordjic hadn't forgotten he was playing Football not frigging Rugby on taking his penalty.

Overall it was a very good season and for some of the old guard a fitting time to leave the club as i begin a large team transformation that will run for the next few years replacing the old stars with new young stars.

Summer Transfers and Seasonal Expectations

Robert Corbett joins from Stoke for £1.2 million

Steven Gerrard joins from Wolves on a bosman

John Reeves joins from Wigan for £1.4 million

Claudio Pizarro was released on a free transfer

Landry Bonnefoi was released on a free transfer

Jermain Defoe joins Inter for £4.9 million

Bojan Djordjic joins Inter for £3.7 million

David McDonagh joins from Notts County for £4.7 million

This season i am aiming to repeat last season's performance. The loss of Defoe and Djordjic will allow more of the youngsters to come on through the ranks whilst the releases of Pizarro and Bonnefoi was to get rid of old unneeded players who are eating into the wage bill.

Steven Gerrard was an unusual signing in that i wasn't going to sign any one that old for a while as there are already a load of old players here, my justificatio nfor breaking that rule is that it is Steven Gerrard and he deserves a shot at a trophy this late on in his career.

Robert Corbett and John Reeves are both young defenders who will have a great career in the future and will learn their trade here at Carlisle. David McDonagh is a striker who will be great but for now will have to wait his turn whilst learning from some of Europe's best strikers.

There are a large number of other players being watched, some of which will hopefully be joining on bosmans in the near future and others who have had large bids turned down for them, but i can wait a year or two like i did with Theo Molenaar after all i got him for £975k and currently he is worth £11 million not bad for a 22 year old Dutch version of Steven Gerrard in his prime.

2015/2016 Squad Review

Goalkeepers

Stephen Blake English Capped at U21 Level 387 Appearances

Stephen Blake was signed from Blackpool 7 years ago for £5 million up front rising to £10 million after appearances. He's been pretty much the number one keeper at the club ever since i signed him.

Sebastien Frey 35 French 127 Caps 29 Appearances

Sebastien was signed from Roma 18 months ago too add a bit of depth and also t inspire Stephen Blake to work harder. For a cost of £3.9 million Sebastien is a more than capable backup to Stephen Blake and also gets quite a few games to give Blake a rest now and then.

Eric Marquet 23 French 0 Appearances

Eric was signed from Auxerre on a bosman 4 years ago now and is a good back up keeper at the club. Eric will be more than able to cover Blake when Frey retires in the near future meaning i do not have any need to find another world class goalkeeper right now.

Stewart Murphy 19 English 0 Appearances

Stewart joined through the youth ranks two years ago and so far has done well in the reserves but i am not to sure he'll be a great keeper. Don't get me wrong but he will be a damn good keeper but probably not here at Carlisle.

Defenders

Ken Bentley SW/D C 22 English 1 Appearance

Ken joined from the youth ranks 4 years ago and has managed one first team appearance in the Champions League 3 years ago. Ken is someone i want to watch for a few more years as at the moment i am undecided whether or not he is any good for the club.

Steven Bird SW/D C English 22 Under 21 player 4 Appearances

Steven was signed from Tottenham for £1.9 million 18 months ago and so far has made 4 appearances for the club. Steven has the potential to mature into a very good defender and will be given more chances in the first team this season to show what he can do.

Glen Bowyer SW/D C 23 English 3 caps 51 appearances

Glen joined us from Leeds for £4.3 million 4 years ago now. In his first season Glen played a lot but the defense has been strengthened with older better players since then so Glen has had to abide his time with the reserves.

Robert Corbett SW/D/DM C 20 English Under 21 player 0 Appearances

Robert joined us this summer for £1.2 million from Stoke and looks like he will be a very good player in a few years time. No idea how much he'll be used in the first team this season but with the entire squad undergoing major changes i can see him becoming a regular very quickly.

Guillermo Feijoo D L/C 30 Uruguayan 38 caps 2 goals 68 Appearances 1 goal

Guillermo joined us from Atletico Madrid on a bosman two seasons ago and played a lot more games in his first season than last but is still a more than capable player for the team. Guillermo is a useful player to have as he can easily make a cameo subs appearance and change the game.

Silvio Martinez SW/D C 31 Paraguayan 62 caps 1 goal 25 Appearances

Silvio joined us from Newcastle 18 months ago on a bosman that cost us £2.8 million. Silvio is a reasonably good player but is more a back up squad member than a first teamer. Silvio is probably in his last season with Carlisle as his contract expires in the summer but it is not for definite yet.

Rui Martins D C 24 Portugese 18 caps 1 goal 6 Appearances

Rui was a £5 million signing from Nottingham Forest and does look like he can be a good player. Rui hasn't really been given much chance to show what he can do yet but he will be getting more games in the next year or so.

John O'Shea D C 34 Irish 83 caps 1 goal 579 Appearances 18 goals

John joined us 12 years ago from Manchester United and cost us a bargain £2 million. John is one of the key players at the club and along with Toure and Welsh make up part of the formidable defense. John is the current player holding the most league appearances with 400 games so far.

Dave Phillips D L 24 English Under 21 player 10 Appearances

Dave is a player i bought 3 seasons ago from Sunderland for £2 million but has failed to be anything more than a fringe player at Carlisle. Dave is currently transfer listed but as of yet no one has been interested in him.

John Reeves SW/D L/C 22 English Under 21 player 0 Appearances

John was bought this summer from Wigan for £1.4 million and will prove to be a good player i hope. John looks like he might get a few games this season, especially in the dead matches, to further his footballing education.

Carlos de Souza Vieira D C 28 Brazilian Under 21 player 28 Appearances 2 goals

Carlos was signed on a bosman from Milan 2 years ago that cost us a mere £1.8 million for a good dependable player. Carlos normally plays around a third of all the matches more as cover for injured players and to give the first teamers a rest. This is a role he is more than happy to have as he knows he'll get more involved in a few years and will probably have the task of helping the younger players along.

Midfielders

Simon Buxton D/DM L 26 English 12 caps 2 goals 241 Appearances 17 goals

Simon has been with us 8 years now and joined us from the youth team. Simon is a very good left back who is also happy to push down the wing as well as defend. Simon when going down the wing is a very capable crosser of the ball and is a key component of a strong defense.

Steven Gerrard DM R/C 35 English 37 caps 6 goals 0 Appearances

Steven joined us this summer from Wolves on a bosman and will be here for this season only currently. Steven still has the skills to be very effective at this level and will be given a year's extension to his contract if he can keep up good performances all season.

Theo Molenaar DM C 22 Dutch 16 caps 1 goal 58 appearances 8 goals

Theo is fast turning into my greatest signing ever in that he cost us £975k when he joined us from PSV on a bosman 2 years ago. Theo is already the Dutch national team's key midfield playmaker despite only being 22. Theo will be taking over Nolan's role within the next season or two but is already a very impressive performer for us.

Phil Neville D/M R/L 38 English 40 caps 18 Appearances

Phil joined us two years ago on a bosman from Leeds and in his first season proved to be a very good signing to cover for when Toure was out injured for a lot of the season. Phil at 38 is now past his best and very unlikely to feature in the first team this season but due to the small size of the squad will not be released until the summer when his contract expires.

Kevin Nolan DM C 33 English 44 caps 10 goals 461 Appearances 85 goals

Kevin joined us 9 years ago from Tottenham for £3.6 million and is probably the best signing i ever made. Kevin is at his best right now but will probably only get worse from here, thankfully even losing some of his edge Kevin will still be a great player. Kevin will possibly start to get a few less games now to keep him fresh for the key important games that his experience is needed in as well as concentrating more on his coaching at the club.

Kolo Abib Toure D/DM R/C 34 Ivory Coast 41 caps 4 goals 330 Appearances 9 goals

Toure was a very good signing from Arsenal for £2.3 million 7 years ago when he was struggling to get into their team. Toure is the right back in the defense and is perfectly happy going up the wing too. Toure is probably at the top of his career now and will only lose his edge in the next few seasons before retiring to take up a full time coaching role here at Carlisle.

John Welsh D/DM R/L/C 31 English 63 caps 23 goals 63 Appearances 1 goal

John joined us from Inter last season for £14.25 million and is a very very good player. John has boosted the defense a lot in one season and will be the rock of the defense for the next 2-4 years yet. Plenty of clubs were trying to pinch him this summer but there is no way i am selling him.

Darren Fletcher AM R/C 31 Irish 70 caps 7 goals 397 Appearances 62 goals

Darren joined us from Manchester United 8 years ago for £3.7 million which was a bit of a bargain really. Darren is a very good winger and due to his lack of games at United was bought very cheaply. Darren is the subject of quite a few bids every season, including from United, but is not for sale just yet.

John Foster AM L/C 23 English Under 21 player 34 Appearances 2 goals

John joined us from Wolves 4 years ago for £1.9 million and is beginning to become a good player. John wil start to get a few more games each season now but i don't think he will feature that heavily in the team after the lder players retire as there are better players in the reserves than him.

James Kerr D/S C 27 English 72 Appearances 20 goals

James joined us from Leicester for £3.5 million 3 years ago and James is one of those players it is hard to figure out where to play. James is a very good striker and defender but generally loses out to players who only play in one role. James does have the ability however to come in for injured players and turn matches on their head. Last season he alternated a lot between defender and striker but it didn't seem to bother him.

Silvio Marcucci AM R/L 21 Italian 9 caps 4 goals 13 Appearances 0 goals

Silvio joined us from Aston Villa 3 years ago for £5 million which will rise to £10 million on appearances. Silvio is a incredibly good winger and that was why i paid over the top for him in the first place. At only 21 he came into the Italian national team last year played 9 scored 4 and had 5 assists which was more games than he played for us but he will get his chance this season and in the future too.

Rui Simoes AM/F R/L/C 22 Portuguese 13 caps 10 Appearances 1 goal

Rui joined us 4 years ago from Vit Setubal for £325k but as of yet hasn't really shown anything special yet. Rui will get more chances in the next few years to impress but on current form is unlikely to be staying much longer.

Dean Stevens AM/F L/C 29 English 23 caps 3 goals 410 Appearances 129 goals

Dean joined us 12 years ago from Torquay for £1.2 million and at first only got around 30-40% of the games each season mainly due to his age. That long and fairly slow start may well of helped him become the player he is today where he is a key striker for the club but can and does easily slip out to the left wing form time to time too. Dean will be here for a good few years yet and is currently setting up a great partnership with Rooney.

Jamie Tavares AM/F L/C 21 Portuguese 10 caps 1 goal 0 Appearances

Jamie joined us 4 years ago from Vit Guimaraes for £300k and is still playing in the reserves despite being a good player. Jamie's age of 21 is mainly what keeps him out of the first team at the moment plus the more experienced current squad players too. Jamie will start to get some games in the next year or two to see what he is capable of.

Strikers

Massimo Mariano F L/C 23 Italian Under 21 Player 13 Appearances 2 goals

Massimo is on the verge of breaking through into the first team and when he does he looks like he will do very well indeed. Massimo joined us 4 years ago from Coventry for the paltry fee of £975k and generally plays in the reserves with the odd substitute appearance. Massimo is one to watch for the future.

David McDonagh F R/C 22 Irish 5 caps 4 goals 0 Appearances

David is a summer signing from Notts County that cost be £4.7 million but he looks to be a very good player indeed, lord knows why he was playing at Notts County in the First division. David will no doubt get less games than he's used to here but will certainly improve his skills here and also will progress into the first team over the next few years.

Raul F L/C 38 Spanish 148 caps 65 goals 33 Appearances 17 goals

Raul is still a very good player despite his age and he joined us two seasons ago from Wimbledon on a bosman. Raul does not play that many games each season but when he does he sure can still turn on the style and will finish this season at Carlisle with another bunch of cameo performances.

Jose Antonio Reyes F L/C 31 Spanish 75 caps 17 goals 25 Appearances 10 goals

Reyes joined us last summer from Dortmund for £11.25 million and is a wonderful player. Reyes isn't played all the time to try and preserve his career a few more seasons which has managed to keep him in his prime throughout last season.

Ronaldinho F L/C 35 Brazilian 38 caps 14 goals 291 Appearances 53 goals

Ronaldinho joined us 7 years ago from PSG for £3.8 million and has been a very good player for the club in that time. Ronaldinho is beginning to get on a bit now and will get fewer games this season which may well be his last depending on how he gets on. Ronaldinho can still turn in some brilliant performances but not as often as he used to.

Wayne Rooney S C 29 English 42 caps 8 goals 43 Appearances 13 goals

Wayne joined us last summer for £12.5 million from Newcastle and has proved to be a very good signing. Wayne did disappoint me in that he only scored 13 goals but it was a whole new style of football for him to get accustomed to.

Currently the squad consists of 35 players at the moment with a total wage bill of £54 million. This is too few people really especially with several getting on a bit now but i am expecting at least one youth teamer to join this year as i havn't had any for a while. Also i'll be going after more young stars throughout the season including bosman signings once more.

For a change and also as a request i've started doing sqaud reviews each season which should help as a lot of the players are regens now being its 14 years into the game.

Carry on enjoying the tales of Carlisle in Europe whilst i test the newest patch for a new story

August 2015

Stoke in the Charity Shield was first up and we got revenge for our 1-0 FA Cup loss beating them 1-0. Rooney scored our goal in a somewhat lazy match really but it was the start of the season.

Arsenal at home was the first match this season and we started with a fine 2-0 win. Toure and Buxton scored the goals in a comfortable start to the season.

Aston Villa away was next and we beat them 2-1 making it 32 games without defeat in the premiership to date. Reyes and Stevens scored the goals as we easily beat them, even if we did concede a goal.

Man Utd at home was next and we easily trounced them 3-0. The goals came from Nolan, Rooney and Stevens as we never let them have a single shot all day which was a great performance against are biggest rivals for the title this season. We finished the month top on goal diff with 3 wins out of 3.

September 2015

Bury away was first of this month and we simply trounced them 4-1. Stevens got a hattrick and O'Shea added a fourth as we looked like a very dominant force this season.

Ryan Shaw joins from Fulham for £4.7 million and is a very capable SW/D C who is 26 and has 2 England Caps so far.

Nantes at home in the Champions League was next and we beat them 1-0. It was a odd match in that we had most of the possession and more shots yet it was a last minute Rooney goal that gave us the win.

Darlington at home was next and we managed to beat them 2-1. It was a very one sided match as we had 68% of the possession and 7 times as many shots yet only scored twice through Fletcher and Stevens. It was also a record attendance of 61084 still some way short of capacity.

Silvio Martinez returns to Newcastle for £1.7 million as he was pretty useless being barely capable as a back up player.

AaB away in the Champions League was next and we easily beat them 3-0. The goals came from Welsh, Reyes and Molenaar as we went to 13 games without defeat in the Champions League as penalty losses don't count as defeats.

Fulham away was next and we stuffed them 5-0 in a strange match. We only had 9 shots yet still scored 5 and didn't have that much possession either, maybe we are a great team now with the luck going our way to now. Stevens scored twice whilst Rooney, Nolan and Reyes also scored.

8 of the 26 strong English team now come form Carlisle and in total there are 18 full internationals and one under 21 player at the club meaning over half the squad play international football.

Kaiserslautern away in the Champions League was next and we picked up another easy 3 points after a 4-0 victory. Stevens scored twice and Buxton and Rooney also scored. Stevens has scored 10 in only 9 games so far this season. We finished the month top with a 100% win record but still only on goal diff ahead of Wolves who have 6 wins out of 6 too.

October 2015

First up this month was Bristol City at home and we got a fine 2-0 win over them. Stevens scored as well as Molenaar who is blossoming into a stunningly good player before my eyes.

Liverpool away was next and we finally lost a game. We were beaten 2-0 after Darren Bent scored twice in 5 mins late on in the second half. Still we have a 37 game unbeaten record to try and beat now.

Kaiserslautern at home was next in the Champions League and we got yet another win with a very simple straightforward 2-0 win. Fletcher and Molenaar scored the goals today as we eased into the next round.

Leeds at home was next and we were straight back on the winning style in the league with a easy 2-0 win over them. Fletcher and Stevens scored the goals as we continued our domestic dominance.

Nantes away in the Champions League was next and we got a lazy 1-0 win in a fairly meaning less match for us. Buxton scored our goal which was a bugger as he's just one of the several players under repeated bids from other clubs. We finished the month top by 2 points over Wolves.

November 2015

Tottenham away was first up this month and we beat them 3-1 in another routine win for us. Fletcher scored twice and Buxton got the third as we edged a bit further out in front of the rest in the league.

Sunderland away in the League Cup was next and we beat them 2-1 fairly easily although we had a full strength team and they were in Div 2. Nolan and Kerr scored the goals today as we started on the Quadruple campaign once more.

Birmingham at home was next and we beat them 2-1 fairly easily, plus there two players i am after did well today. Feijoo and Kerr scored the goals for us today as i began to look for bosman signings for the summer.

AaB at home in the Champions League was next and we made it 6 wins out of 6 with a 3-1 win over them. Toure, Nolan and Rooney scored the goals as we were drawn to face Anderlecht, Real Madrid and Dortmund in the next stage.

Newcastle at home was next and we beat them 1-0 in a closely fought game. Fletcher scored the only goal of the match early on in the first half as we began to open up a bit of a lead at the top.

Anderlecht at home in the Champions League was next and we won yet another European game very easily, this time 3-0. Buxton scored two goals and Reyes got the third as we made it 18 games without defeat in Europe.

Nottingham Forest away was next and we managed to beat them 1-0 in a very close even game. Theo Molenaar scored the winner after only 13 minutes. We finished the month top of the table 4 points ahead of Wolves.

December 2015

Leicester at home in the League Cup was first this month and we beat them 3-0 very easily. Reyes scored twice and Molenaar got the third as we continued to field a full strength side as i go for the Quadruple.

Stoke at home was next and we managed to beat them 1-0 in a close hard fought game. Stevens scored the only goal after 13 minutes his 11th in the league this season which is far more than Rooney who has failed to score that often since joining us and is currently being considered for sale.

Dortmund away in the Champions League was next and we got a 2-1 win in a close match that Dortmund probably edged. Stevens and Reyes scored the goals as we entered the winter break with a strong position in our group.

Chelsea away was next and we easily beat them 3-0. Reyes, Toure and Feijoo score the goals as we increased our lead at the top of the table some more up to 9 points with games in hand currently.

Daniel Brinkmann joins from Birmingham for £4 million on a bosman and looks like being a very good winger despite only being 21.

Stoke away in the League Cup was next and we lost it 2-0 despite playing better for most of the match. Another dodgy display from Rooney has seen him transfer listed with plenty of interest.

Rui Martins joins Millwall for £1.7 million after failing to make it into the first team squad despite being a decent player.

Middlesbrough at home was next and we managed to beat them easily 3-2 even if the score line was close. Rooney scored twice today but its too late i've made my mind up and he is off, Feijoo scored the thrid goal.

Wayne Rooney joins Real Madrid for £15.5 million after failing to be a good as i expected, don't get me wrong he is still a great player but noting special at Carlisle.

Aston Villa at home was next and we got a 0-0 draw in a game we should of won let alone scored in. It was one of those days i suppose where nothing goes right. Still the lack of Rooney wasn't a problem.

Danny Robertson joins form Birmingham for £1.4 million and he looks to be a good defensive signing.

Man Utd away was next and we easily beat them 3-0. Reyes scored twice and Nolan got the third as we showed who was the best team in England now.

Charlton away was next and we got a 1-0 win over them in a tough game. Stevens scored the goal as we finished the month top by 13 points over Wolves with a game in hand still.

January 2016

Wolves away was first up this month and we beat them 1-0 thanks to Ronaldinho's goal midway through the second half. I played a few fringe players today to see how good they were and they actually did ok.

Arsenal away was next and we managed to beat them 1-0 thanks to a Stevens goal early on in the second half. This fine performance saw us further increase our lead at the top of the table.

Coventry at home in the FA Cup was next and we got a 2-2 draw in a match we should of won even if it was not the normal full strength team today. Nolan and McDonagh scored today and now i have a replay that is unwanted.

Sheffield Wednesday away was next and we managed to win our final game in hand 3-0 in a comfortable match. Nolan scored twice and Reyes scored the other as we eased into a very commanding lead over everyone else.

Marcel Munteanu joins on a free transfer and he looks to be a pretty decent experience Romanian striker.

Darlington away was next and we got a simple 3-0 win out of it. Corbett, Kerr and Nolan scored today as we maintained our impressive league form.

Coventry away in the FA Cup replay was next and we got a 1-0 win this time. Munteanu scored on his club debut but we should of scored far more as we had 23 shots.

Fulham at home was next and we beat them 2-1 in a close match. Kerr and Stevens scored in a match marred by injuries to my players. Theo Molenaar picked up a groin strain putting him out for a month, John Reeves came on as a sub for him and picked up a 3 week ankle injury and Feijoo twisted his ankle putting him out for a month too.

Roberto Bella joins from Milan for £3.7 million and looks like a very good striker, lord knows why he never got a game at Milan.

Sunderland at home in the FA Cup was next and we managed to beat thm e4-3 in a scrappy game, but then i did not field a full team this time. Bella scored on his debut as well as Ronaldinho and two from Ryan Shaw. We finished the month top by 19 points from Wolves.
