Carambau Posted July 18, 2021 Author Share Posted July 18, 2021 (edited) DINAMO SEASON 2020/2021 TRANSFERS Spoiler IN Kristijan Lovric from Gorica, 2.5M OUT Robbie Burton to Crystal Palace, 1.5M TACTICS PRVA LIGA FINAL TABLE The first season was a complete success. We dominated the league from the beginning and only lost one match. I would have loved to have gone unbeaten but we lost to lowly Rijeka in march. In the end we were 33 points ahead of 2nd placed Hajduk. I had expected a more challenging first season but they didnt deliver. RESULTS Spoiler PRVA LIGA NOGOMETNI KUP RESULTS We mostly had lower league clubs as opponents and had some kind of difficulties only once: Against small club Istra. Apart from that it was a light run to the cup. SUPERKUP RESULT Rijeka were the big underachevers this season and this match was no different. We were all over them. UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TABLE & RESULTS Our performance here came as a pleasant surprise. We qualified for the group stage, which was an achievement in its own. Then we went on to beat heavyweights Atletico, Lazio and Zenit, finished second in this group ahead of Lazio and Zenit and qualified for the knockout round. We met Juventus there and went out without a chance but the lads should be proud! SEASON PLAYER STATS What a great season that was for us! And you can see it in the statistics. Winger Orsic managed to score 20 goals, providing 11 assists. Striker Petkovic scored 21 and even assisted 1 more. Player of the season should be between those two players. We were working like a well oiled machine. Problem is, this didnt go unheard in the rest of europe and clubs are already after our best players. I fear we will see a different team next season. NEWS YOUTH INTAKE Pelaic, Musulin and Skreblin are looking good and will be added to our youth academy team which is already filled with fantastic talents. It seemed the quality of the squad woud surely decline a bit. PRVA LIGA FINAL TABLE We lost 2 games this season, a downgrade of you compare it to the last year. But in the end we dominated the league just the same, even after losing so many key players. Our partner club Lokomotiva finished second, thanks to a lot of young talented loan players from us. We even lost against them at home in march. RESULTS Spoiler PRVA LIGA NOGOMETNI KUP RESULTS A cake walk again, only our biggest rivals gave us a bit of a scare, but we prevailed victoriously. UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TABLE & RESULTS We could not reproduce our european performance from last year. It was tough from the beginning, we almost went out against Young Boys. Then we lost the first 3 games in our group (which was not an easy one as you can see). Those were close matches nevertheless which showed in the last 3 games where we managed to pick up 5 points and almost qualified for the Europa League. We even beat big Liverpool at home. It was not to be but we once again can be proud of what we did there. SEASON PLAYER STATS Despite losing key players like Majer, Petkovic and Orsic the season was a huge success. We won the double again (the Supercup was not played this year, maybe because we could not play ourselves). Livakovic will leave after the season and join Tottenham, so his performances will be missed and we will have to look for a decent successor. New defenders Uremovic and Jedvaj did a good job keeping danger away from our goal too. Barisic was especially effective as he was even able to assist 15 goals, making him have the joint best assists together with Ivanusec this season! Gojak was our new playmaker, doing a decent job. He is not exactly a new signing as he returned from his loan at Torino after last season. Polish winger Kaminski was outstanding, providing 16 goals and 10 assist. Our transfer policy of signing not only croatian, but young eastern european talents paid off here. Veteran Livaja had a decent season as well as youngster Dario Vizinger with his 25 goals. Again, I am sure those performances will not go unnoticed in europe and we will have to prepare for some transfer battles (and defeats). NEWS YOUTH INTAKE Canic and Kordic are the best this year. Plus 3 new players that we promoted from our youth team, Saranic, Zadro and Marin. PRVA LIGA FINAL TABLE A rather disappointing season compared to our usual performances. We lost 3 games and drew 8 times. After a convincing first half of the season we declined in the second half. And Hajduk are still only a shadow of their former self. RESULTS Spoiler PRVA LIGA NOGOMETNI KUP RESULTS Yes, it indeed gets tougher. We were lucky in the semis and in the final. Experience saved us. UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TABLE & RESULTS It was a big fight in the group stage. In the end our home victory against PSG was the decisive factor. Then we met another one of the greats and were pretty unlucky not to progress. We showed that we can keep up with them though. SEASON PLAYER STATS Our new goalkeeper Strakosha was a worthy successor of Livakovic, I think he is ever better. Lovren immediately took the lead in our defence alongside the other new signing Benkovic. Sosa had to battle with Barisic for his place and more often than not the experienced Barisic prevailed. Zaper made a great playmaker though it does not show that much in his figures. Mandzukic played more the super sub role but that he did with class, scoring 11 goals. Our academy products Ivan Saranic and Antonio Marin had impressive debuts and definitely made the grade. NEWS YOUTH INTAKE Slogar and Tomljanovic are the best this year. They will get a contract. Luka Modric joined us from Real Madrid! The only problem: He is already 37 years old... but I still think he can contribute effectively, especially in crucial moments. Apart from this transfer, there were no big changes for this season. PRVA LIGA FINAL TABLE An even more disappointing season compared to our usual performances than last year. We lost 4 games and drew 4 times. At least we didnt draw as much as last season. Still, the gap is 20 points and that sure is quite a lot. RESULTS Spoiler PRVA LIGA NOGOMETNI KUP RESULTS Once more we walk the cup final (exclude the penalty thriller against Rijeka...) and win it convincingly. UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TABLE & RESULTS It was clear from the start that our chances of progressing in this group were minimal. Real Madrid & Bayern Munich are on a different level. We defeated Slavia Prague 2 times to qualify for the Europa League. EUROPA LEAGUE 1ST KNOCKOUT ROUND Had we not played like a boy scout team in the first leg at home, we might have even advanced to the second round. But we DID play like a boy scout team in the first leg at home. SEASON PLAYER STATS Dario Vizinger! His attributes do not reflect what a goal machine he can be. 37 goals this season, and he even topped the goalscorers chart in the league. Old superstar Modric made 41 games this season, not a bad feat for a granddaddy. Our academy talent Saranic keeps getting better and better, the other youngster Marin not so much. Most surprising player was Lovric, who scored 29 goals and assisted 12. A lot of players are getting to the end of their careers, like Lovren, Mandzukic and sadly also Modric, and we will have to find replacements for them next season. Thank good we have such a great Youth Academy here. NEWS YOUTH INTAKE More talent this year. The top four players will get a contract. And Abel Dube. SQUAD Villanueva has a lot of potential, Kramaric brings lots of experience. PRVA LIGA FINAL TABLE We lost only one game this season. Saranic scored 26 goals in the league and became topscorer. RESULTS Spoiler PRVA LIGA NOGOMETNI KUP RESULTS It finally happened. We did NOT win the cup this year! We lost an even game at rivals Hajduk Split and go cup-less this season. Sounds like a sensation! UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TABLE & RESULTS Our Champions League campaign was a great success! We qualified from a tough group and then went out only because of one bad game we had at home against Man City. The lads even won at the Ittihad! #proudofthelads SEASON PLAYER STATS Ivan Saranic was our player of the season! He scored the most goals, he gave the most assists and he had the highest average rating, so there is no question about that. New talent Oscar Villanueva did not play too often but when he played he was able to contribute effectively. And Thomas Strakosha is our iron man, he played all games this season. NEWS YOUTH INTAKE Not a very good intake this year, but I don´t complain. WORLD CUP 2026 Spain do it again. Surprise team - Colombia. UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TABLE & RESULTS Our by far best performance in the Champions League yet! We top our strong group and we make it to the quarter finals for the very first time. There, we -like last season- lose our home game heavily and win the away game comfortably. Maybe its a psychological problem. Nevertheless, congratulations lads! SEASON PLAYER STATS Ivan Saranic topped his great last season. 38 goals! And he played as a right winger... Villanueva has settled and came a close second. Young striker Music scored 22 and proved he deserved the starting spot in attack. I am pretty sure this has been Saranic´s last season for us as the big clubs are preparing their bids.
