smeagoltonez
Hi guys, I have a 22 year old goalkeeper who has a decent potential star rating (4 stars) but his ability is only 2.5 stars). Usually I’d consider this age to be too late for an outfield player to reach his full potential (in FM at least) but I know that in real life, this is considered a young age for a goalkeeper. Does Football Manager reflect this? Do goalkeepers have more time to make significant development? Thanks.

As someone who was lucky enough to have a wonderkid GK coming through the academy of the club that I am managing, yes I can confirm that GK has a different development model compared to other outfield players. They peak much later in their career and can play until 34 without too much decline in physical attributes.

FrazT
GKs tend to be at their peak after 30 unlike most outfield players, so it is likely that their development will be at a slightly slower rate than others
