I cancelled the affiliates of Beauvais Oise and Toulon, whilst the board cancelled Zilina's.

The board have been rather reluctant to increase the number of affiliate clubs we have but we've added Tenerife and SV Ried this year, hopefully we can persuade them to add more.

New Signing

0cd2a53ceb53c9b52fe2d80d225be439.png

Probably the first time i've ever signed a Chinese player. Wang Yimin is not quite first team level yet but at 18 years old he could improve to be a good back-up option.

This is the first time I've had this message too, so it will be interesting to see how much his signing can boost our finances.

Youth Intake Preview

Another golden generation incoming but we have another decent GK, a promising CB, a top CM, and a fine prospect ST coming through.

Youth Intake Review

f70b468146e6c4e3cbef45cbe7117511.png

This is a pretty decent intake with 3 x 5* potential players, again centred very much around France with a bit of English thrown in and a player orignianally from Guinea-Bissau to add to the map. Personalities are quite poor still except the four that really matter at the top.

Alfred Messan is the best of the bunch for me, although 2.5* CA already skews things slightly.

2033/34 Season Review

I would class this season as a success to be honest, we finished in 3rd place again, on virtue of goal difference to Nice who drew on the final day of the season to see us leap frog them. It could have been better though, we were top at gameweek 19 but had a blip including losing to PSG, we reamined in 2nd until gameweek 34 when we had another blip due to a goalkeeping injury crisis, we dropped to fourth place but that last day win managed to secure us third once more

We had another disappointing season in the French Cup, we only reached the 11th Round much to the boards dismay, they wanted at least the quarter finals.

We had a great Champions League campaign though. We were drawn against Ajax, Benfica and Zenit in the group stages, where we won five games and lost away to Benfica. That incuding 7-0 away in Ajax in match one, 6-3 at home Zenit and 5-1 at home to Ajax. We were drawn against German giants Dortmund in the 1st KO Round, we lost the first leg 4-3 on aggregate but won the return home leg 3-2 to send us through on away goals. Fellow French compatriots Nimes were up next, a cagey 1-1 away draw was overturned by a 4-3 home thriller to send us into the semi finals, where we would face Man City.

This is where the goalkeeping injury crisis would also hurt us, we lost, heavily, at home, 7-2. Shameful. We perked up in the 2nd leg but lost 3-2 to see us lose 10-4 on aggregate overall. We have now set the unwanted record of conceding the most goals in the CL in a season. Champions League Results

Marco Giunta continued his fine form this season scoring a record 41 goals for the club, he signed a new contract too which was pleasing. Wonderkid Miroslav Luptak had a good season as his strike partner, scoring 29 goals and making 15 assists. Matheus on the left wing scored 27, whilst Cunha on the right scored 15. Sebastian Iselin made the CMa slot his own with 13 goals and 10 assists in a fine season which saw him called up to the Swiss national team and score two goals in his five international appearances.

The under 19's had an absolute dominant season winning the league by 10 points and scoring 127 goals and winning the competition overall by beating Lyon 6-1 in the final

We've made a good amount of money this season, largely thanks to the Champions League run and domestic prize money. With all this money I've asked the board for further upgrades to the to the facilities again which are going to cost us £10m. We also have had news that the new stadium is going to be delayed by five months.

Summer Transfers

adbf917ddfe44e9bccf5b1bed57c7f3c.png

We've made three signings this summer that will strengthen the first team.

Matt Lloyd joins from Man Utd for a club record £15.25m. Primarily a CB, he can play DM but thats a position we don't use. The young Welsh defender has seven caps for this country already and will play along side Brazilian Marcos in the heart of defence. Another defender to join was Christian Cerda from Brazil. The Chilean international will take over from Paul Alves at LB. We also signed Daniel Maka from Polish side Legia for £3.5m rising to £5.5m. The youngster will play second fiddle to Bruno Cunha at RW with the view to take over next season if he progresses well.

Youth Intake Review

As predicted, this intake is pretty poor. Yvan Martin is touted as the best prospect but he comes knowhere near Stanislas Richard who is now first choice and Alfred Massen who is becoming a quality keeper. The personalities are rather poor across the board except that of Aloumanis and Weirather.

2034/35 Season Review

Well what can I say? I'll get it out of the way

a4ebfe5d1321e83d1ac98982d8acdc92.png

An incredible season for us as we win out first Ligue 1 title. Lets talk about PSG briefly, they were awful! Finished 4th, a whopping 18 points behind me, they lost 12 games!! Looking at their squad its a typical mis-managed FM squad, four first teamers over the age of 34 including Mbappe at 36. My accumulation of 86 points would not have been enough to win any of the previous seasons in this save, not that I'm complaining.

The French Cup was another non-entity, knocked out in the 11th Round by PSG.

In the Champions League we were drawn against Real Madrid, Roma and Porto in a tough group. Wins home and away over Roma and another against Porto meant we finished 3rd and dropped into the Europa League. We faced Red Star in the 1st KO Round, defeating them 5-1 on aggregate, we then faced Celtic in the 2nd KO Round, losing the first leg at home but overturning the fixture in the away leg to go through on away goals. In the quarter finals we faced Gladbach, we were powerless in the first leg and lost 3-1. At home we got our shooting boots on and scored four but conceded three ourselves, losing the tie 7-5 on aggregate

Marco Giunta top scored again for us but a quieter season with just 31 goals but he did miss the last 6 weeks of the season through injury. Luptak had a slightly better season, scoring 30 goals whilst Matheus scored 24 from left wing. Bruno Cunha made 24 assists from the opposite side but has likely lost his spot to Daniel Maka next season, the 17 year old Wonderkid having a great end to the season.

Club wise we maxed out our facilities this season whilst we moved into our brand new shiny stadium, which the board have just announced they will be expanding to the 33k capacity it can grow to. Financially we were given £25m for winning the league but that money went on the expansion which I'd rather happen than a loan.

Future of the Club

I wanted to take a brief look at the future of the club and which players are coming through the youth teams and will make an impact in the first team in the seasons to come.

Wonderkids

We have a few wonderkids in the first team who have the potential to get even better.

  • Stanislas Richard - GK - Became first choice this season, only kept 12 clean sheets which is concerning but at the age of 20 is only going to get better.
  • Jacky Prigent - LB - either footed so can play either at right back or predominently left back.
  • Nelson De Bruin - CB - hard-working defender who has slipped to back up.
  • Sebastien Iselin - CM - been first choice the past two seasons scoring 20 goals and making 25 assists.
  • Daniel Maka - AMR - made 50 appearance for us last season but mainly from the bench.

Promoted to the First Team

  • Pascal Ugolini - ST - was on loan at Monaco from January and scored three goals in twelve games. Could yet go out on loan again.
  • Jean-Marie El Haouel - CM - I've sold Sosa so made room for Jean-Marie to be promoted. Could be the next Didier Deschamps.

Gone Out on Loan

  • Godfred Mensah - CM - signed for £350k from Ghanaian side Hearts of Oak. Spent time on loan at Hertha Berlin last season, gone to Ajax this season. If he improves he will replace Ondoua in the first team next season.
  • Wang Yimin - LB - was at Sochaux last season and will be at Toulouse this season in the top flight. Will replace Paul Alves in the first team next season.
  • Soussi Adanguede - AMR - spent time at Havre last season, joins Yimin at Toulouse. I want to look to sell Cunha if anyone comes in, Soussi will replace him.
  • Lenon - CB - £3m Summer signing from Brazil. Goes out on loan to Reims again in Ligue 1.

Under 19s

  • Alfred Messan - GK - looking to loan him out but no takers yet, will ultmately be first choice GK for us. Labelled as the next Joel Bats.
  • Hermann Kra - CB - improving really well, currently working on his positioning. Labelled as the next Joel Bossis
  • Kamel Henry - CM - retraining to CM from AMC, labelled as potentially the next Michel Platini.
  • Nabil Marechal - CM - a defensive CM, needs to work on his passing. Touted as the next Luis Fernandez.

I'm sure you will, PSG are beatable as you can see, Bordeaux had won the league a few seasons before under Zidane so its possible, even for the AI.

A poor intake as expected, one good player however in Romaine Lafortune who is best as a DM but a positon we don't use, so he will be retrained to CB which he is familiar with.

Two Spanish players from San Cristobal which is in Tenerife, not linked to the club though. We also get our first player from Luxembourg.

2035/36 Season Review

In similar vein to last season it was more about PSG's incompetence rather than our outstanding brilliance as we took our 2nd successive Ligue 1 title. We finished 11 points ahead of PSG who were down in 4th place whilst Nimes (3rd) and Marsielle (2nd) finished ahead of them.

We made it a domestic double too, winning the French Cup. We beat Bourg en Bresse, Monaco, Nantes, Nimes (on pens) and Montpellier on route to the final against PSG which we won 3-2

In Europe we went straight into the CL Group stages once again, drawn against Juventus, Salzburg and Fuenlabrada. Six wins from six saw us top the group with ease and draw Benfica in the 1st KO Round. A comfortable 6-1 aggregate victory was pleasing and put us into the Quarter Finals where we would face Real Madrid. We were no match for Madrid though as they hammered us 4-1 at the Bernabeu and then beat us 2-0 on our own patch

It felt a quieter goal scoring season for our players, Giunta only managed 32 goals whilst Luptak notched 27. 18 year old Polish winger Daniel Maka scored 19 whilst creating 16 goals, Matheus on the opposite wing scored 17 and made 15 assists. Yaya Cherni had a breakthrough season scoring 16 and making 11 assists largely as a rotation player.

This season we had a little clearout of a few of the poorer/ageing players. Soca's ability had declined massively against some of the players coming through so off he went, as well as Ruben Roa in defence. Yassine Andre was a young player but I felt we wouldn't get the gametime he needed, £9.5m + 50% was a good deal. Daniel Patrick had just turned 30 so to get a deal rising to £6m and his wages off the books was a good deal. Bagayoko was way out of his depth now and he got a payday in China. Nicolas was a 16 year old youth who wasn't going to make it here so I didn't offer him a pro-contract whereas Marsielle did.

We've made huge strides financially off the field, our balance is now over the £200m mark with a nearly complete stadium expansion that will take us to 33k capacity. We've been given a transfer budget of £115m and a wage budget of £1.8m p/w which is double what we are spending now.

Wonderkids

  • Alfred Messan - GK - spent another season in the U19 after no takers for him on loan for some reason became a wonderkid and has been promoted to the first team
  • Jacky Prigent - LB - played mainly at right back due to his either-footed-ness, a solid but unspectacular player.
  • Wang Yimin - LB - on loan at Toulouse last season where he played 36 times.
  • Godfred Mensah - CM - was on loan at Ajax but I recalled him and he was first choice at CM
  • Soussi Adanguede - RW - spent last season on loan at Toulouse, scoring 5 goals and making 10 assists. Currently injured but promoted to the first team.
  • Daniel Maka - RW - a jewell in our crown, an exciting prospect who scored 19 goals last season as well as 16 assists.

  • Wang Yimin - LB - mentioned above also, will be in rotation with Chilean full back Cerda for the starting spot.

Transfers

Outs

779923b35163f8f46008090294090fe9.png

Two big name sales in Bruno Cunha to Bournemouth and Nelson De Bruin to Ajax both players wanted way more money than they were worth to renew. Klein, Kuwas and Messaoudene were Borgo2 players who weren't good enough for the first team and Masse was on a youth contract.

Ins

f94e5cb657ba8b81c895f35b74fa651a.png

Just two players come in this season as we look to use our academy graduates. Bouza was immediately loaned back to Spanish side Alaves for the season whilst Drljevic joins from Spanish side Athletico Madrid to act as defensive cover.

Loans

69cdf3ec905ba6b0e01112eda1c2af22.png

I've tried to send players to clubs who either complete in the top division or are predicted to be around the top of the second tier. Nikic is not first choice at Toulouse alongside Lenon, so I may recall him.

A second consecutive poor intake for us but to be expected as we changed our HoYD after the last intake.

For me Fabian Navarro is the best of a bad bunch, a striker who dives into tackles, could be tasty. We do also get quite a few different nationalities here, Spanish, Belgian x3, Swiss for the first time (and from the same city as our affiliate club Thun), Moroccan, DR Congo and another Englishman which you can't see in the image.

2036/37 Season Review

A resurgent PSG fought back to take the Ligue 1 title by 7 points, it would have been one point it we had beaten them on the last day of the season. You know they were back to their best as with us getting 87 points this season, we beat our previous two title winning season tallies of 86 and 84 points to only finish 2nd. One thing I can take from the season though is the 108 goals we scored, 22 more than PSG and now our record scoring season in the league.

French Cup isn't important now that we've won it, we beat Toulon in the 9th Round before losing 1-0 to PSG in the 10th.

A poorer season in the Champions League for us, we finished 2nd behind Juventus in the group stage. We beat Zenit home and away and got a win and draw against Leipzig, losing both games to Juventus. We were drawn against Man Utd in the 1st KO Round and we lost both legs to be knocked out 3-1 on aggregate

Miroslav Luptak top scored for us this season with just 26 goals, youth academy player Pascal Ugolini notched 23 whilst Marco Giunta scored just 19 goals. Daniel Maka made the most assists with 18. Alfred Messan had a great debut season for us keeping 13 clean sheets at the tender age of 18, he knocked Stanislas Richard from his starting spot and was later subsequently sold due to his whining, we got £27m rising to £34m from Salzburg for him.

We made £67m from transfers this season whilst only spending £7m but I have broken my transfer record on a new signing which I will reveal at a later time. We currently have just under £275m in the bank.

Love the progress you have made in this save. Got few Qs :)
What is your European Ranking after CL runs?
What is your reputation in the league against other french teams ?

Thank you very much!

We're currently 9th in the European Co-effs! We have to better 13.00 points from the 2031/32 season next season and we should move up a place or two.

We're comfortably the 2nd best team in France now and have a World Wide reputation alongside PSG (1st), Nimes (3rd (tycoon takeover)), Monaco, Marsielle, Bordeaux and Lille.

Affiliates

We've continued to add affiliate clubs despite it not really working for this save for some reason. We've had players from Tenerife and Thun in recent intakes but not linked to the club itself. Maybe it takes a few seasons for the affiliation to kick in and we may see more players joining our academy from the towns/cities our affiliate clubs are from.

Early Business

d18532bf287e48f65871e9dd78a9a218.png

For just £20m we've upgraded two positions with World Class players. Tom Brasko didn't want to renew at Gladbach and 66 goals in 116 games in Germany is a decent return, I snapped him up on £100k p/w which is a great deal, he will take Giunta's place in the first team. We also upgraded at CM with the addition of Greek international Argyris Pappas from Olympiakos in a deal worth £20m rising to £27m, he will sit alongside Mensah as a Mezzala and hopefully offer more goals/assists in his game than Iselin who has hit his ceiling.

We've also promoted German Bouza to the first team after his season with Alaves saw him "pop" to a wonderkid. The young Spanish defender will compete with Hermann Kra as 3rd/4th choice CB.

Squad Progression

Wonderkids

  • German Bouza - CB - signed from Barcelona on a free then sent to Alaves on loan where he became a wonderkid.
  • Daniel Maka - RW - continues to improve season on season, our most valuable player at £64m.
  • Godfred Mensah - CM - solid first season in the first team, needs to add some goals to his game though. I rejected £42m from Arsenal for him.
  • Pascal Ugolini - ST - Academy Product. 23 goals last season, will be one of four strikers this season.
  • Soussi Adanguede - RW - Academy Product. cover for Maka and can play CM too, 5 goals and 9 assists last season.
  • Alfred Messan - GK - Academy Product. great debut season which saw him oust Richard and force me to sell him.
  • Hermann Kra - CB - Academy Product. just 13 games last season but will be more involved this season.

Youth Players

  • Andy Jeanson - CB - training at CB and working on his aerial ability.
  • Loic Gaillard - ST - working on his shooting.
  • Fabian Navarro - ST - hopefully he can improve him mentals a fair bit over the next few seasons.
  • Jean-Marie Filippi - LB - working on his attacking movement.
  • Celio Ramesay - CM - opted to keep him rather than sell, well rounded but not standout.
  • Simone Bertolini - CM - I like him because he's from Luxembourg, developing him purely for the national team.
  • Romaine Lafortune - CB - working on him becoming a BPD.
  • Denny Kemper - RW - signed from AZ last summer for £950k. He wants to join Marsielle.
  • Jacobo - RB - signed from Athletico Madrid for £1.1m. Delighted he's playing for Malaysia rather than Spain.

Incoming Youth Signings

  • Park Min-Kyun - RB - South Korean being signed from Jeonbuk for £1.5m.
  • Gunnar Eriksen - AMC - I'm spending £2.5m on him from Brann, will retrain to CM.
  • Lazar Jacovic - ST - I'm going to retrain him as a CM I think.

Major Sale

Real Madrid has been interested in Mensah for a while and made an opening offer of £49m for him. I countered with £80m and 50% of next sale and they accepted straight away, I probably could have got more but nevermind. This sale leaves a bit of a hole in CM alongside Pappas, I've got a couple of bids in for players from South America who look like they could be very good, just got to decide which one to confirm.

  • 2 weeks later...

Back from a wet and windy week in Cornwall with the other half! Bit of catching up to do on here and at home and I'll be ready to continue my save tomorrow I guess!

I've got a couple of places in mind for a FM22 save in Cornwall like @Makoto Nakamura did with St Buyran, we happened to drive past the pitch there on the way back from Lands End!

Youth Intake Review

This isn't a great intake, with one standout player in Christophe Henry who is predominantly an attacking midfielder but will be retrained to central midfield.

Brief 2037/38 Season Review

I'm very much winding down on my save here until FM22 comes out as I think most others are too with the quiet nature of the forum.

Anyway, we regained the league from last seasons winners PSG, with them finishing in second place and eight points behind us.

We exited the French Cup in the first round on penalties after a 0-0 draw with Nice.

We finished 2nd in our Champions League Group of Feyenoord, Leverkusen and Real Madrid. We were then dumped out at the 1st KO Round to Athletico Madrid, beating us 6-2 on aggregate.

Brasko top scored with 33 goals whilst Luptak and Ugolini notched 20 and 19 apiece in the 2nd more rotational spot. Mathues scored 18 from the left wing whilst Maka scored 10 in a injury interupted season.

We now have just over £350m in the bank with little to spend it on as the facilities are maxed out and we can't build another stadium yet despite selling out each week. We could spend it all on upgrades to win the Champions League but that wouldn't be my style.

International

We have our first academy graduates to play for France, Hermann Kra and Soussi Adanguede have both recently been brought into the France senior squad with the latter scoring on his debut but missing out on the French World Cup squad. Hermann is now a starting central defender for France at the age of 19.

Transfers

We sold a couple of fringe/young players who wanted out and brought in just four players this season. Rolland is a youngster with some potential who was released by Guingamp for some reason and Kruse was released by Brondby and has good potential. 16 year old Fernandes came up in a scout report and was still on a youth contract at Sporting, an initial £750k is a bargain.

I made Edgar Sosa my record signing from Tottenham in a deal rising to £40m. The Mexican winger will oust Matheus from the starting line-up on the left hade side. He's el rapido and hopefully his 17 for flair and dribbling will make him a real handful for the opposition.

2038/39 Season Review

Another title win over second placed PSG, we ended up being 13 points ahead of them. We reached the semi-finals of the French Cup, losing to Lyon and we were knocked out of the Champions League at the Quarter Final stage by Nimes.

Tom Brasko was in imperious form ending the season with 62 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions whilst scoring 43 goals in the 38 league games. He was supported by Pascal Ugolini (academy graduate) who scored 32 goals, four other players also hit double figures. New signing Edgar Sosa made the most assists with 21 whilst Greek CM Pappas made 20. We need to look at improving our options at both full positions and I'm going to have to spend big to do so.

I signed a new contract worth £40k p/w, we had a poor youth intake, we have £340m in the bank and a transfer budget of £215m for improvements.

Summer 2039 Transfers

A few changes this season as first team players Matheus and Iselin leave for pastures new, joining Atalanta and Crystal Palace respectively. We also sell Kruse (Danish freebie) and Lafortune (Academy) for a combined £7m with add-ons.

Incoming were three new full-backs, two for the left in Tucker and Rodolfo with the latter being offered for loan until we can free up a foreign spot and Becerra on loan from Real Madrid who will be first choice at RB. The only other addition to the first team squad is Gunnar Eriksen who is promoted from the U19 after a mildy successful loan at Havre last season.

I've also struck five deals for some youngsters to join the club.

Borges who will join when he turns 18.

2039/40 Season Review

A stellar season a we complete a domestic treble of the Trophee des Champions (beating Lyon 4-2), the league title and French Cup (beating PSG 4-2). We also reached the Champions League final for the first time, where we would face Man City, which we won 2-1 with academy product Pascal Ugolini bagging both goals.

It was a battle between Ugolini and Brasko for the top scorer spot with the latter coming out on top, Brasko scored 59 goals in 52 games whilst Ugolini notched 56 in 55(1) games. Daniel Maka made the most assists with 24, whilst Pappas made 23 from central midfield.

We had another poor intake this season so I went out and spent anther £5m on youngsters to supplement the under 19s with all deals on the approach to sign deal. I'm still not happy with my defence, I need a new RB (as our first choice is on loan) and could do with upgrading a CB too. Maka at RW could be upgraded if we find better out there, despite his goals and assists this season.

We made around £80m in profit this season largely due to the sale of Luptak and CL win. We now on have the CWC to win as a club which we have qualified for which is next summer.
