[FM21] 918 Days To Glory - A Journey Man Save - Part II - FC Groningen [Finished]

So after re-downloading everything for FM....I want to do one more save.

So I take it easy and do a little journey man save.

 

I loaded up the top 10 leagues:

 

Goal:

Im only able to take over a team, that is on a relegation spot on December 25th, on Christmas Day. 

AND

The job must be avaiable in the job center.

 

I got 918 days to win a trophy the team.

So I got roughly 2,5 years to turn this team around.

 

After 2,5 years I resign or let my contract run down and I wait until December 25th again.

 

I will try to do this with every league, which is loaded.

Three times Im able to pull out a Joker and I can choose a team I want.

 

I holidayed until December 25th 2020:

I got two options in Rennes and Bologna.

I never used Camavinga this year, so here we go.

  

Yes it looks kinda rough, but only tight losses.

 

The board knows the situation and want us to avoid the relegation.

The team doesnt look that bad.

The finances are looking good.

Therefore we got a nice transfer budget.

RENNES!!! My boys!!!

They are so inconsistent in FM. I always check how they’re doing and sometimes they’re challenging, sometimes they’re down the bottom. Very odd. 
 

Anyway with that set of players you should be able to fire up the table easily.

Great start!

We left the relegation places behind us already.

Also we managed to beat Lyon in the cup and got in the 1/4 final.

This should be the semi final.

February 2021 Part 1 - Transfer

 

OUT

Trimmed the squad a bit and canceled the loan of Nzonzi.

He was on 88k/week.

 

IN

I wanted more depth in the attack, a backup RB and a quality CB.

I think we done a good job.

Diop was listed by request. I think this is a small steal.

14 Mio + 15k/week wage pay West Ham.

As German, as Bayern fan and as someone who is living in Eastern Germany I know Petersen pretty well.

He was listed, cuz he contract would ran out.

I know what he can do and what he brings to the squad.

Germain will be a great backup player for the next years.

We need a backup RB and found him in the Netherlands.

He was also transfer listed due to having 6 months left on his contract.

Svensson looks like a norwegian James Milner, he can play everywhere.

February 2021 Part 2

Our form continues, only Reims was to strong for us this time.

I would love to push into the Euro spots.

But we will see.

Well the option cup is gone. No way we beat PSG.

No chance against PSG in the cup.

In the league we are still in the race for place 5 or 6.

Almost a perfect month.

Its looks like we are gettin the Euro spot.

Thats the formation I use + a short corner routine.

I developed this tactic in my Canada save.

Once you get the right players and they learned to play it, I works really well.

 

Rennes had already a decent team which is good enough for Europe (as IRL last season).

And we finish the season in the EL places.

We also got an impressive draw against a full 1st PSG team.

End Of Season Review 2020/21

What a result.

I expected to finish on single digit places, but not on a EL spot.

We end the first season with 3 losses (1 in the cup) and a lot of green.

 

 

The team really performed as a unit.

With the winter addition, we filled the gaps pretty good.

 

I said Diop is a small steal, I think it was a big one. He was a real anchor in the back.

Germain and Petersen provided the missing goal from the striker position.

Hunou will leave us and Guirassy will be sold too, both failed hard and got replaced by two 30+ y/o players.

Hopefully Al-Ahli doenst pull the 10 mio clause of Niang, I would love to include him in the team.

i trying to make an tactic on trying to make an team to get promotion to playing primeira liga but sadly it didnt work out as i planned it to

Here is it.

The LW always needs to do the corners and make sure that the LOA CM got the best long shots.

Its pretty balanced and you can make changes on the oponent or game situation.

It should work in LL too.

The roles arent that special and the instructions are small.

August 2021 - Transfers

OUT

Cleaned out the reserves and some of the first team.

We made roughly 66 mio in total.

IN

I think we did pretty well, Im pretty happy with every position.

 

We got some experience with Ruiz, Wu Lei and Foulquier.

Foulquier is also there for euro registration rules.

 

Also we got 2 rotation players on free in Basila and Gauld.

But ofcause we bought some improvements + one goody for me.

The league is looking brilliant.

Koita is finally arrived and Terrier, which I wanted to sell in the summer, plays really well.

PSG dropped 5 points already!

Mixed month.

But we managed to get a draw vs PSG.

Our form is gettin better.

PSG lost points against Montpellier.

 

In December we play against Lyon.

This will the test, if we are a top 3 team.

We are playing pretty well.

We smashed Milan in the EL and got an away draw against Lyon.

PSG looks beatable this season.

I said it before, but we are playing really well.

We even got a late draw against Marseille despite Camavinga gettin a red card after 60min.

There are still a lot of games to play, but we can actually do this.

January 2022 Part 2 - Transfers

I expected more from Ruiz, but he declined so fast.

Also he was grumpy, because I didnt improve the attack. lol

2,3 mio for 6 months is pretty good.

 

Grenier declined also and was only the 3rd DLP in line.

I trade him for a B2B typ player.

 

Germain was decent last year, but he didnt played that much this season.

So I traded him for someone better.

Roughly 35 mio we spent to improve the team, to maybe countinue with our form.

Note to myself, Premier League club are kinda dumb.

 

Meite will be our backup B2B.

Also saved 10k p/w in wages compaired to Grenier.

 

ManCity transfer listed him for 8,5 mio.

Carmo and Diop will our new combo in the back.

Two rocks with 194cm and 196cm.

 

I trade Germain for Giroud.

He will be our new DLF backup.

He plays almost for free, 650! p/w until the end of the season.

 

Oh boy.

The final transfer...we literally stole Pepe from Arsenal.

Those stats for 24 mio? Yes I pay that.

Not only that, he plays for 12,75k p/w!

Why?

He got a contract for us until 2025.

So he plays 2,5 years for almost nothing.

The logic part would be to sell him after the 2023/24 season.

February 2022

After the African Cup Koita finally got his form back and scored 12 goals this month!

We got our first league loss against a pretty strong Lille.

11 games to play and we are still 6 pts ahead.

 

Also we are still in the cup and the EL.

We are in the cup final.

We are out of the EL, Lazio was too strong that day.

We drew PSG, which means we should be winning the league.

No Mbappe and No Neymar.

Mbappe only with a small injury but Neymar uff...out for 6 months atleast.

We are playing Monaco in cup final.

Lost vs a strong Strasbourg, but it doesnt matter I think.

We also won the Coupe de France.

The team was pretty nervous and we almost choked at the end.

But we won the league infront of Lyon, which had a fantastic 2nd half of the season.

End Of Season Review 2021/22

We done it with the right transfers and mindset.

We also won the cup, only the EL wasnt that good.

 

 

The team really played well together.

The addition of Carmo, rocksolid in the defense, Pepe, 19 scorer and Giroud, scorer 12, in the winter was the right choice.

 

Over the summer I will see what bargains and options will be available.

Im happy with the team.

 

Camavinga wont sign a new contract, so I maybe will sell him. But idk yet.

August 2022 Part 3 - Transfers

Another big sell out.

The major ones were Basila, Del Castillo, Petersen and Camavinga.

Im a bit disappointed of gettin only 40 mio + 20% sell on for Camavinga, but normally he is gone after the first season.

I think we did pretty well again.

Slama and Brix are youth players.

 

Ounas will replace Del Castillo as backup RW. Pretty decent free transfer.

 

I had Bailly on my shortlist for the last 12 months and Man United released him.

He will the first backup of Diop and Carmo.

 

Our 3rd keeper Salin retired in the summer, so we need a new one.

My scout found Larsonneur last autumn and he got listed this summer.

He will be our new 2nd keeper and Gomis is goin to be 3rd.

 

Theophile-Cathrine will be the backup CB and more important a home grown talent.

We needed those, because Camavinga and Gelin left us in the summer.

 

This was a no brainer.

Thuram was transfer listed and he is a damn good IF.

 

Haidara was also transfer listed by RB.

He adds another option for the midfield and plays almost for free.

He only signed a one year contract, but we will see.

 

After Camavinga got sold, we need a replacement.

On deadline day Diawara arrived in Rennes.

Man City is also paying again most of his wages until his contract expires with us.

 

I think, we got a good looking team.

Idk if we as good as last year, but we will see.

We are looking great in the league, Marcus Thuram is on fire!

 

Holy Moly! Thrum is insane.

Most goals are coming from crosses to the far post from the right side.
