Play first team vs u23s but have the u23s use the tactics of your next opponent.

Basically what the title says this was used by Don Revie of Leeds United to prepare his 1st team to play against other teams tactics before the game.

Do you have any more examples of recent managers deploying this tactic?

While I can certainly see the benefits, given the schedules of u23 teams nowadays, I simply don't think they'd have the time to learn and deploy effectively the tactics of another team, and certainly not on a regular basis. I can't say I'm sure First XI's ever play the u23/u21's in practice out with preseason or international breaks?
