Good luck 🍀 I’m afraid what happens regarding exiting Adminstration and lifting of the transfer embargo varies quite considerably from save to save. Sometimes it happens early in the 2021/22 season, sometimes it happens later. My gut tells me it usually happens somewhere between the closing of the first transfer window and the opening of the second, but some Rams managers have reported still being in Admin and Under Embargo into February 2022. You kind of roll the dice and take your chances. On my current Derby County save, using the Winter Update, it happened on 12th September 2021. Playing a 4231 with Lawrence playing as a SS. He has been an absolute revelation! We are well on pace to avoid relegation.
Joyboy.
So I've started my Derby save and removed the injuries as Stuniverse advised. Really enjoying the challenge. First game we beat Huddersfield 6-0 at home and then knocked Oxford out of the league cup, Bobby Duncan getting a brace. I've moved the best players from the u23's to the first team to fill the squad out, we seem to have some decent youngsters in the U23 squad so worth a look. Also have rumours of a takeover, so hopefully by the next transfer window I can start changing the squad about. Will update again once i'm further into the season.
Joyboy.
Looks like a takeover could be happening soon, also looks like he wants us in the Prem so he will need to open his wallet.
Joyboy.
So the takeover has happened, the major thing Jim Heterington has done is clear the dept at the club, which is huge for us. He has pumped £3.2m into the club account and also invested in the youth training facility's. No money to spend on players yet but im not to worried about that, we just need to chip away at the point deduction.

Stuniverse
My first Rams save with FM22.0.3 Winter Update On my current FM Derby County save (FM22.0.3 Winter Update), I used the Pre-Game Editor to reinstate the players that were sold / let go by the Administrators in real-life, and set their future transfers for the dates they actually left the club. In my opinion, with the horrendous injury list you inherit at the start of the 2021/22 season, if you're managing Derby County using the Winter Update you need to use the pre-game editor and either a) reinstate the players above and set their future transfers, or b) clear the injuries. If you don't do either, you'll find it nigh-on impossible to pick a competitive 11 at the start of the 2021/22 season, nor have a competitive substitute's bench. We're approaching the mid-September and I'm very happy with how things are going (East Midlands derby aside, where we conceded two late goals): The takeover of Derby County Football Club has just gone through on September 12th 2021. Yes, the winter update with the injuries removed. 5 hours ago, Stuniverse said: Good start. Out of interest, who are the young players you’ve promoted who are impressing you so far? Duncan and Soloman look really impressive. Duncan has scored 3 in 4 appearances. Made one signing in Jerome Sinclare on a free, also let Kazim-Richards go back to Turkey on a free.

TakaStfc
Just started a Derby save on the new winter update and have reached the 23 game mark. I started with the transfer window enabled to see what more difficulties I would face, but fortunately (or not in some cases), no one was sold or loaned out. The takeover went through in mid October and the finances as of Christmas look like below. Results As you can see right up until the takeover the season had started really well. At one point without the -21 point deduction, we would have been 2nd! For the most part we have been rocking with a 4-3-3 throughout the early part, with Plange leading the line and goals coming from various sources. A real particular highlight was that 6-0! in the derby and I did wonder if this was going too well... and then the takeover happened... Everything that seemed to go right for us in those early months, it was like a switch had flipped in late October and through November. Injuries to Ravel, Davies, Byrne and Tom Lawrence having to be overplayed and constantly needing a rest meant we went 7 games without a win, scoring only 2 goals in that time. Not good enough... it prompted a tactical switch (see below) and even though it has only been three games, we have grabbed ourselves nine vital points and survival now looks massively in our hands. That leaves the current table looking like this... So 7th without the deduction with the injures we have had, and the poor run of form - a good start and a slightly surprising one at that. We now move on to the transfer window where I hope to reinforce the squad and decide what to do about Tom Lawrence - Tom who has disappointed so far, has interest in him, and has no desire to restart failed contract talks - Should be a very busy January at Pride Park. Stuniverse
Thanks for the update, @TakaStfc. And congratulations on how well your save is going in the first half of the season. Three points off safety, after 23 games, is incredible given the -21 points Derby County started on. I’ve found the same regarding injuries. With a threadbare squad, any first team injuries, particularly to the key players is problematic. Which of the young players have impressed for you? How are you using Tom Lawrence? I’ve tended to get the best out of him as either an IW-At on the left or a SS-At in the middle. Good luck 🍀 in the transfer window and over the remaining 23 games of the season. TakaStfc
Thanks @Stuniverse - yeah it has been a great start all things considered. Those first 12/13 games were just one of those runs that you sometimes have on FM where everything goes right. Not knowing the young players before this save, I would say 3 in particular have stood out; 1. Cashin - Currently slotting in as the cover defender in our back 3 system, Cashin has filled in due to injury to Curtis Davies and done well so far. 2. McDonald - Filled in really well at right back due to long injuries to Byrne and Ebosele during our great run early on in the season 3. Liam Thompson - currently playing as our DLP(s) and has seriously impressed. Has interest in him from Serie A but I have already offered him a 3 year deal as I would like him to stay. I used Tom as an IW(a) in the 433 and SS(a) in the 5221. I think the main issue has been that he hasn’t had much rest as during the international break he is of course playing and travelling so hopefully with reinforcements we can rotate a bit better. With a transfer percentage retained of 0% I feel like Tom will be staying unless a major bid arrives and will change the finances significantly. Will report back at the end of the season when hopefully the Rams are preparing for another year in the Championship 🐏

Recyclic3021
Decided to pick this save up again from where i left off, after dabbling with other careers. Looking at the previous seasons i had built a solid base, staving off relegation in the first season and winning promotion the following season as champions. I certainly follow similar traits with emphasis on young players a trend i end up doing with most of my FM saves. Two cup wins in the Carabou & Europa League shows we have a good team who can excel in one off matches, but i seem to recall struggling against the bigger teams in the division. Following promotion as champions in the 2nd season a respectable 15th then 6th and 3rd place in the Premier League is an upward trend. A transfer budget just shy of £28 million to prepare for a season in the Champions League didn’t bode well. With not much wiggle room in the wage budget either I would need to look at bargain transfer deals and offloading some players to be able to bring better ones in. Due to the registration issues for the Champions League, a slight emphasis on players being trained in England also. Looking at my already arranged transfers in, with the only English player being a 15 year old Wagstaff. With Castano coming in and going back on loan to River Plate, presuming he couldn’t get a work permit as he is only capped at u20 level for Argentina. Cortez is a fantastic player and will slot into the first team squad straight away. International debut at 16 and has scored 23 goals in 23 appearances for his country. I had already arranged to sell Buchanan & Ballard as they were unhappy with playing time. Menino was also a prearranged transfer meeting a release clause. The left side of the team needed strengthening hence the departure of an unhappy Bradaric and a frankly disappointing Lacava, although a combined £37m profit isn’t to be sneezed at. The arrivals of Cortez, Barnes, Ristanic, Barros, Cucurella and Popovic really beef up the left side now. Johnstone as back up following Iverson’s request to leave. Patino and Delap both transfer listed cheap and both English. £112m spent with £125m received at the end of the summer transfer window, squad is deeper and hopefully with a bit more quality. Just waiting for the raft of unhappy players who don’t get registered for the Champions League. Table wise opening victories against Brentford and Leicester followed by a close 2-1 defeat away to Champ😊 Have conceded 23 goals in the previous 6 games in the league) Another cup win No Easy group in the CL Group stage Edited March 18, 2022 by Recyclic3021

Recyclic3021
update for the end of the Jan transfer window. League is going well, the extra bodies and depth in the squad has allowed so good rotation so injuries and fatigue have been minimal (34 different players used so far!!) Top 4 far ahead of everyone else, so we are pretty confident that Champions League Footbal will be back at Pride Park next season. Lost Home and Away to Chelsea and Away to Liverpool, draws Away to Arsenal and Man Utd so far. Speaking of Pride Park the board have agreed to increase the capacity to 43k. selling out the stadium barring the odd Carabou 3rd tie. Through to the final of the Carabou again beating Chelsea reserves 2-0 in the Quarters and Newcastle 2-0 in the Semi. Finished second in the Champions League group behind AC Milan on 14 points without losing a game and a better goal difference. Didnt lose a game but drew 0-0 away at the San Siro and 1-1 at home, apparently away goals do count in head to head. Barcelona await in the 1st knockout round Finances seem to be great as the he board gave us an extra £24m transfer kitty and a bit more in the wage budget but i only saw fit to bring in one more player and send him back out on loan to Ipswich til the end of the season. Hes a wonderkid with 4.5* potential Knight, Camara and O'Leary constantly in my ear about their playing time even though i gave opportunities to all of them so i got rid. Hughes has become club captain now even though my assman was recommending Scarlett at the age of 22 with a leadership of 12. I also turned down this offer as i wanted to get Derby to the top, sometimes FM gets it right and sometimes it gets it pure wrong. I mean the average age of my 1st choice team is about 21 years old. The fact the academy players arent quite good enough to break through yet is not good enough.
Recyclic3021
End of season review May 2027 Well its taken 6 years but this team is developing nicely Not sure i would attribute the sucess to the start of the season as we lost to Chelsea twice and Liverpool away and drew away at Arsenal and Utd in the first half of the season and never really faltered since then. Cortez was a great signing but Patino was probably my favourite, with Cucurella probably the worst. beat Barcelona 1-0 home and away with fine performances in both, Finally succumbing to eventual winners Arsenal on penalties in the Quarter Finals of the Champions League. Next year maybe getting knocked out of the CL QF and FA Cup probably won us the league as we were pretty even with both Chelsea and Arsenal who both stuttered under the fixtures. Didnt think it was our year in the Carabao after Utd equalized in the 90th and 122 min Finances still look great with a small transfer debt and a wage budget less than half of the big clubs (The Alan Shearer stadium based in Leicester built 4 years ago with no team ever playing there?) Scarlett is still knocking in the goals. 41 in all competitions this season and has scored 91 goals in the last 3 years but has still not received an England call up. Recyclic3021
Well, I wasn't planning on any major transfers as the team is settling in nicely but when certain players become available you have to take the chance and grab them to take you to the next level Firstly players out, all the sales were mainly squad/fringe players last year Cucurella could have been the first choice left back but he only played 7 times last season due to some injuries at inopportune moments and he got grumpy i turned down PSG's £7m initial offer on deadline day. On to transfers in and two stand out names appear, both Fernandes and Kane were transfer-listed at 32 & 33 years of age, both brought in to provide that elite level player to boost this good group of youngsters. Still good enough to be at the top level and provide good mentoring for the younger players. Henderson brought in to help as backup for Pascual as he is English and better than Johnstone The rest are exciting prospects with Javier being fairly expensive arriving from Real Madrid. He is not a full international yet but i felt he had good attributes for an 18 year old and the scouts advised me to buy at any price. Piccione arrived without gaining a work permit but has broken into the Italian u21 side, Midtjylland offer league and Europa League experience. 16 year old Wagstaff, who i picked up for £1m last season is performing beyond expectation. scoring 68 goals in the u18's taking him to the under-20 world cup First piece of silverware in the door this season, Fernandes was outstanding against his old club and Kane scoring on his debut Solid start to the season with the top 3 teams yet to concede a goal, I have arguguably had the harder start to the season with Brentford, Man U and Newcastle up first. Speaking of which, playing at the Alan Shearer Stadium has it benefits, as another Derby record is broken. and finally the Champions League draw, tough but not insurmountable plus no issues with player registrations, eligibility criterias met with no players having to be left out unlike last season. Recyclic3021
Midway point of the season - not planning on any transfers in the Jan transfer window. League is going well, No defeats with both draws away at Ciy and Chelsea Away draw against City was a bit of a humdinger Fernandes has done well as the attacking central midfielder, Kane less so. TBF he has been playing out on the left wing as an inside forward in the main. both in the top 50 players in the world Scarlett is still the main main up front and has 15 goals for the season so far and recently made his England debut. Scored his first goal for England in the following match Couple of records broken as well Funny i knew Forest was a derby but didnt realise Leeds were also historic rivals until i started this save. Have drawn them in the FA Cup 3rd round too (easy peasy ) Topped the Champions League group with 5 wins and a draw away in the dead rubber at Porto. Lyon await in the 1st knockout round. The reserves have made it through to the Carabao Cup semi's where we play Norwich, Fulham or Man Utd are in the other semi.

Recyclic3021
well the Jan transfer window ended and i am still unbeaten. Carabao cup Final booked against Man Utd like last year Chelsea at home in the FA Cup 4th round Lyon in the Champions League coming up soon I said i wasnt thinking about any transfers but.... and outgoing Ristanic and Javier both got grumpy they werent playing. Ristanic only had a 4* potential max and played on the left wing or front so i was happy to sell for £18m profit. Javier is probably my future first choice wingback so a loan to Germany suits Perez is a wonderkid with 5* potential, no work permit so back to Uruguay. Hitchen is English potential wonderkid Pease & Soonsup-Bell return having worked with them previously. Both now Fringe backup players. Man Utd insisted on an optional £141m fee for Pease.........i like his attributes but i dont think i like him that much.
Recyclic3021
3 times in a row, seem to have an affinity for this competition now. through to the semi-final of the FA cup where Newcastle stand between us and my first appearance in the Final of this competition. ( I'm presuming the match is still played at Wembley ) Beat Lyon 4-2 in both legs of the 1st knockout round. We got knocked out by Arsenal last year in the QF and the QF draw couldnt have been harder with a trip to Ballon Dor winning Erling Haaland's PSG up very shortly. Porto or Arsenal await in the Semi ( emphasis on if we beat PSG in the QF) We have also lost our invincible status with a 3-1 defeat away at Anfield in the league but stand 14 points clear in the league with 8 games to go.

As a Manager you have less control over Club Atmosphere and Managerial Support, This is mainly about player promises, contract renewals etc keeping players happy with their playing time This is a snapshot of my current dynamics, obviously we are doing well in the league and cups, so everything should be rosy but i try and fit the odd Team Bonding or Community Outreach in the training schedule where possible. Only Asking as on my save I have picked up a striker from Persepolis who is a regen and English. Cost me 250k but is a massive bargain considering his 3 and half to 4 and half potential. Sure, i picked him up from Persepolis for 240k as well and he is one of those regens in the database that has a decent potential range. he obviously hasnt had many games for me but has performed reasonably well out on loan seen other threads were he has become a beast and had transfers of £100m+ dont think he will be that good for me and i will probably sell him at the end of this season with 2 years left on his contract and could make a tidy profit.

The January transfer window has now closed and we've lost nine players without signing anybody. It's actually 10 players lost if we include Curtis Davies hanging up his boots due to an Achilles tendon injury. Another two players have signed pre-contracts and will leave at the end of the season. We remain second bottom of the Championship (although we would've been 7th without the -21 points deduction). But, with a thin squad getting ever more threadbare, our form has been very inconsistent of late. And, as has been the case all season, injuries really aren't helping our cause. Joyboy.
Sorry not updated for a bit, not really had a chance to play over the last week. So we're finally out of the drop zone after going 5 games unbeaten, four wins and a draw. Beating top of the table Bournemouth at home and getting a creditable draw against 3rd place Blackburn. Got my first crop of youths come through, four of which I have offered contracts to straight away, they look amazing. I'll take some screenshots of them soon. Feeling pretty confident of staying up now. Also got 500k from City as part of the Delap deal, so I'm starting to look for some first season bargains if anyone knows any?
Joyboy.
Also big shout out to Bobby Duncan, 15 goals in 27 appearances. We're now 5 points clear of relegation with 7 games to go. :)

Guest
Wow I did horribly bad at this. I had a go because it was the community challenge on the FM podcast. I used the first winter update, didn't look at any guides (as will become apparent) or see what other people had done. First off there a lot of injuries to contend with. Secondly there is a shortage of forwards with only Luke Plange (on loan) and Bobby Duncan available. Colin Kazim-Richards is a long-term injury. Almost immediately the administrators sold Duncan for £180K to Fulham. I struggled to find the right formation before settling on a 4-4-1-1. I won only 2 of the first 10 (7 defeats), 3 of the next 10 (6 defeats). The takeover happened in November but my recruitment was limited and pretty poor in the January window. In came Brian Fiabema (a winger) on loan from Chelsea, Jayden Braff (another winger) on loan from Man City, Leo Fuhr Hjelde (DC) on loan from Leeds, Sean McLoughlin (DL) from Hull, Jon Hugill (ST) on loan from Man United and Radek Vitek (GK) also from Man United. Ryan Allsop, who had played well, got injured in early February for the rest of the season which was a real blow. Anyway I finished bottom with 14 points, 9 wins, 8 draw and 29 defeats, even without the points deduction I would have finished bottom so all in all, pretty disastrous. Joyboy.
So we stayed up, quit comfortably in the end. Got given a budget of £3.5m, sold Tom Lawrence before his contract run out, I did open talks with him but his wage demands were ridicules and he was already on a fair wack as it was. Also we seem to be having another takeover, the current board haven't even been at the club for 12 months.

I've now caught up with real-time as I've just reached the end of March International Break. We have played 39 matches and have seven left to play. Recyclic3021
Well i gave a sneek peak earlier having lost the away leg 2-1 to PSG in the Champions League Quarter Final, our second actual defeat all season, but was relatively confident i could get a result in the home leg. I wasnt quite prepared for this result. Arsenal await in the Semi Final Edited April 3, 2022 by Recyclic3021

Recyclic3021
Apaza's red card in the 15th minute put us in a tricky position as we had already hit the crossbar twice. Scarlett's goal was a counter attacking at its finest. Barcelona were reduced to set pieces and long distance efforts, there first shot on target was in the 87th min. WilsonJuve
Managing the Rams and we are in January first season. My setup is no players brought back to the club and no first transfer window so we have to make do with what's at the club. Just hit 1st January and after 26 games we are in 20th 4 points clear of the drop the bottom two teams are 14 and 15 points behind. Still haven't came out of administration though so the January window could really ruin the season.
