Advice Needed - FM21 file for use in FM22 (data ports but problem)

Hi,

Last year I worked with majestic on a media file update and added hundreds of UK journalists and loads of sources for Scotland and England. I successfully exported as an XML from the FM21 editor, imported to the FM22 editor and then saved as an FMF. When loaded, the changes are present, the media sources and journalists have all moved over. However, they don't attend press conferences. With the editor file, it seems to trigger only one attendee per press conference (I am testing as Celtic, who by default get around 5-8 and with the FM21 file got 10 - 15). It seems the sources are present in news items.

I remember some sort of post about having to edit the file in a text editor to remove certain things when porting from FM20 to FM21. I could be well off the mark, but is there anyone who would know of something I can try to get it working?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Ignore that please, I found the reason. New option in editor titled 'Attends Press Conferences' which needs to be ticked. I will be busy ticking away for a while. Thanks.

Have you tested this? I made sure all media had attends press con ticked, but attendance still drops to 1. In addition, I noticed none of these media sources were generating news. This wasn't an issue in previous games.

Yes, I am getting the same issue in terms of a lack of news generation and presence at Press Conferences, but I don't think it is linked to that box. From what I can see, the more prominent the source (e.g. Worldwide, Continental etc.) the more likely they will show up across all leagues, competitions and clubs. It feels as if a setting/coding has changed somewhere which has resulted in minimal input or presence from club sources, both at conferences and news items. I raised it as a potential bug. I definitely don't get one attendee at press conferences though. Latest test I had 15 at Celtic press conference.

That's odd. Do your created media sources show up to the press conference though or is it just the default ones/fake generated media sources?

When I switched my 30 or so custom made media sources from local/regional/national to global, I start getting a good number attending press cons but it's all fake game generated one. And as you suspected, set as global, those news sources started being populated with articles at least. Definitely something broken under the hood.

I can get the sources to appear in the main. Also finding that if you leave it at 'Anytime' for Club and Competition sources, they don't seem to get used often, particularly Club sources, but my main issue is not press conferences, it is news feeds. Very random allocations. I have posted in the bug thread you commented on so won't repeat it here.

To reassure you in terms of press conference, here is a recent Celtic one. None are set to Global, but I mass removed all continental allocations to try to get to the root of the issue.

I'm surprised I wonder if it's because of the much lower reputation of the Canadian League. I will experiment

Update: just added USA to area covered for all of my new media sources and loaded up MLS. Still had the press conference problem

This always happens:

Weird, I just set all my media sources to cover Scotland and the Scottish Prem, and while I do get 5 journalists at the opening press conference (I used to get your number in FM21), they are all the default ones. Do you mind sharing your media fmf file with me to take a look?
