Wrens Nest Season 2025/26

Our hardest season yet. Got promoted through the playoff, came 3rd. Great run in the FA cup lost in the 4th round, which help the finances a great deal. Wages were really tricky so had to have a really small squad. which was hard for squad depth.

You may need a stadium expansion like me.

Not yet but we have moved twice now in the last 12 months due to it not being big enough and other clubs are upgrading their ground, so kind of homeless at the moment. Will keep everyone posted on our ground situation.

Another season out of the way

image.thumb.png.2cbdb30a491a4b23f066554bc9ec6e28.png

Annoyingly, the only defeat was in match 34 against the team that finished bottom :seagull:

Cup runs in the FA Cup and FA Trophy were great, but really hit my squad while playing so many matches

image.thumb.png.6ce3d4805f37b2d7072f4f31b3dd8a39.png

And you can see how much that FA Cup run made a difference to my finances

Northern Premier League Division 1 East - 30 points

AFC DARWEN 2023/2024

Total pts - 90

Trophies - 3

Absolutely no challenge in the league whatsoever. I got knocked out in the league cup in the 5th round thanks to a combination of going down to 9 men and an injury crisis ( not helpful when you have a squad of 18/19) I had a very impressive run in the trophy, I lost to Barrow where I was the better team. Hopefully I get a good FA Cup run next season like PompeyBoyz as that money would be quite useful

Anyone else had issues with the finances as they've gone up the leagues?

image.thumb.png.676a85420e20ffb287266efe118df9f7.png

Apart from that cup run last season, I am haemorrhaging money even though I am £7k under my wage budget.

Since going up to the Northern Premier League Premier Division, my average attendance has gone up from about 270 to 400 but it is still not helping.

Hi guys, thought I'd join the party

Props to Messi for the great database and running the thread

Without further ado:

HALL ROAD RANGERS SEASON 1:

Northern Counties East League Division 1 - 5th

Fa Vase - 1st rd

Northern Counties East League Cup - 1st rd

0 Pts

I decided to start the challenge with this team for the sole reason that on FM16/17 on a similar database I had a save with them - if I recall correctly they had been in the 11th tier at that time and I managed to get them into the Conference North before giving up. I even bought their training top IRL which I'll have to dig out if we get to a cup final (although I doubt it fits me anymore )

Season 1 results:

Spoiler

All I had to work with on day 1 was two players - a 40 year old goalkeeper and a defender (who to be fair looks great for this level) - at least they are fairly professional !

151262451_Teamreport.thumb.png.ae0b0ae19b10bbf34b8f2326e2b5a6b8.png

We also started with no assistant manager, nobody who wanted the job in the staff search and ZERO applications when I placed a job advert. This made recruitment absolute hell at first - sending out 100s of trial offers and getting more rejection letters than when I applied for my first job out of Uni - nonetheless we managed to cobble together a rag-tag squad of journeymen and kids for the start of the season

1196883314_Seasonpreview.thumb.png.d22acea551d29096d3016eeeffd896aa.png

At this point the media had us in the middle of the pack - right in line with the board expectations...

2108032520_LeagueTableSzn1.thumb.png.901f6f0dff2ae10abbd30470db3120ef.png

In the end we were able to finish a very respectable 5th after a tough start - having managed to attract an assistant and a few free agents of quality over the course of the season.

Next year the board want to repeat the top 5 finish but I'll be aiming to carry over our form from when we managed to get a settled squad together and secure promotion.

The big shining light of the season has to be signing young Will Gatward - the 21 year old has everything you could want from a striker at this level (pace and finishing) and managed to net 36 goals in just 26 apps. Already tied him down on 25 quid a week until 2024 and the plan firmly remains to lump it in behind in his general direction for him to lead us to glory

Newent Town 2023/2024 Season Recap

Trophies Won: 55 pts (70 pts total)

  • Hellenic League Premier Division (20 pts)
  • FA Vase (25 pts)
  • Hellenic League Cup (10 pts)

Solid season, but it was a season of luck and underperformance in matches, The team came up big when it needed to, though.

We needed a win and a draw elsewhere to win the league on the final day and got it!

Stonehouse Town FC Season 2026/2027

Overall had a disappointedly close season. Made the playoffs losing in the first rd and made the FA trophy final losing to Gillingham. Struggled with wage budget and depth. We have been given a bump in wage budget, 6400/week, for next year looking to bring in some depth across the park.  Still only have to fight bravely against relegation next season hopefully we can push for a playoff spot again.

This season has to go down as one of my favorite ever season's while playing FM.

We was totally not expected to get promotion or get anywhere near the playoffs but we just kept beliving and never gave up.

The battle we had with Bradford City and Stockport County was immense, we actually beat Bradford City home and away during the season which had a huge outcome to us eventually winning the battle to go up.

We had such a small budget of just £8,900pw increased to £9,200 after adjusting the budgets.

A small mention about Bradford City, they had a average attendance of over 14,000 and a wage budget of £39,000pw, just goes to prove the national league is a very difficult league to get out of and Bradford City have now spent 3 seasons at this level now losing in the playoffs every season.

AFC Darwen  29/30

Wow just wow, the league was looking tight but this went beyond all expectations. I was level on points with Chorley (who I played in the final game of the season) but I had a worse GD so I had to win to go up, the final game of the season was essentially a play-off final. It got to about 70ish minutes and I thought stuff it & went all out attack, even started sending the gk up for the corners. The corner went in, the gk got a flick on and my 6ft 8 cb finished it off,  so I go up as league winners.

Total pts 223

Trophies - 6

You will need to start at Level 10 to be part of the challenge.

Read the rules on the 1st page.

Crowds do go go up as you go up the leagues.

Stonehouse Town Season 2027/28

Finished 17th, was a tough season, but we stayed up. recruitment is really hard at the moment. Going for a new tactic next season, had to resort back to a 4-4-2 towards the end of the season.

It can be very hard to get out of the national league, it took me 5 seasons to do it.

I also had a very good ex league team with average crows of just under 13,000 to compete with too, they are still there now lol.

Lost in the playoff final on penalties, so close to promotion to the championship.

Had a very good FA Cup run reaching the Quarter-Finals, knocking man city out in the 5th round after extra time before losing to man utd in the next round.

Reached the semi-finals of the efl trophy.

Finances are now looking quite good with about 4 million in the bank.

Maybe its time to upgrade the training/youth facilities.

I have another stadium expansion coming as well, a extra 1,000+ seats taking capacity to over 6,000.

An update on my progress so far. Enjoying playing with attribute masking on for a change. The biggest difference is that while it's definitely possible to find good players for each position, they may not be suitable for the role you want to play, so you need to able to adapt your tactics based on who you can find and attract. Certainly adds a new dimension.

No cup wins, so the only competitions eligible for points are the three league wins shown in the job history and career milestones screenshots. I've included the game info screenshot so you can see that I don't have the editor enabled.

Stonehouse Town FC 2028/29 Season:

WE. ARE. PROFESSIONAL. Promoted from 7th. 1st rd playoffs won on pens, semi-final smashed bolton 4-2, final in front of 38K at wembley won in extra time against bromley 2-1. Not bad considering we were expected to fight against relegation. Nothing to write home about in the cups.
