Maximum squad salary

My wage budget at Valencia is £1,507,664 pw, but I have a Maximum Squad Salary that is £850,000 (should be in €, guys). In all my time playing FM, I've never run into this before, and I'm confused. There is no mention of it in the competition rules, and no mention of it in the club finances. Can anyone shed light?

I also noticed that at La Liga. It’s new financial rules of the Spanish Federation to protect clubs’ financial health and avoid bankruptcies. It’s based on a three year formula. Yes, it’s almost as bad as MLS… Say gracias to Barcelona…

That is your salary cap for players registered to your first team squad for La Liga. 

The figure you are seeing on your squad registration screen is a calculation based on revenues and spending over a previous period. I’m not sure if in real life this also includes coach wages or something but I’m fairly sure in FM it specifically relates to those registered to your squad for La Liga (so wouldn’t include under age players who don’t need to be registered). The salary within your club finances includes all player/staff salaries so will be different.
