Green line to dashed line?

My central defenders used to co-operate well with each other, and suddenly they have the notorious dashed lines in the new year. Isn't it a bit unrealistic? What is the philosophy / reasoning behind it? I understand normal to dashed but green line to dashed? It doesn't make any sense. I'm obviously talking about the same players of course. Should I report it as a bug? Did I do anything wrong at pre-season or elsewhere (I regularly put match-preparation - teamwork sessions in training, not sure if it's the right method to rectify this)?
