Can't change the B team Tactics to First team Tactics

Hi Guys i made a custom club in the editor and assigned it some existing teams in lower leagues for development, however whenever i try to change the tactic being trained and used to my first team tactic, it just doesn't do anything, staying as the manager's preferred tactic no matter what i do, including firing them etc. any fix for this?
