I dont know what the FM21 databases are like, the one I got was made by Dave the Editor and I would definitely recommend his work if he did something for FM21.

Thanks for the tip, he actually created the database for FM21! Now I only need to figure out which country to start with...

The defeat against Gbohloé-su was disappointing and AS OTR pegged us back twice in a game we should have won, but we maintain our lead at the top so I cant be too unhappy.

I brought in a goalkeeper that I thought would be a starter but turns out he will be just a back-up and ASC Kara did us a nice favor of loaning back Arafat Amozou with no wage contribution. On the outgoing front just releasing and loaning out some youngsters.

We are more than holding our own so far and find ourselves in second with almost half the games gone. Highlight has to be the comeback against reigning champions ASC Kara. We were 2-0 down with 12 minutes to go and Traoré-Diallo, who has played very little this season, comes on to salvage an incredible draw!

We still have little expectations, if we are still close to the top at the end of the month it will have been a great achievement.

We come crashing back down to earth as ASKO and ASC Kara convincingly beat us and Unisport steal a draw in the last 10 minutes of the game. ASC Kara seem to have taken the league already but we could still fight for second and a Confederation Cup place if we get back to our good form.

We limp towards the end of the season as we draw two games we should have won before being outplayed by ASKO again. The game against AS OTR was particularly disappointing as we were leading until a stoppage time penalty saw them equalize.

2046/47 Season Review

image.png.efb3fd48ba07b92cf695e97b903b7873.png

The objective of reaching the Championship Group was achieved and we did play well in it, despite not getting the best results. ASC Kara is definitely ahead of everyone else but I feel we are close to the other sides in the country.

Squad by Appearances

image.png.924da44a496c25c4f16f1cd8bbed933f.png

image.png.20a307943c8ebdff3dd6887d46ea2266.png

We reduced the squad massively in order to have a decent and balanced first XI, but we do have lack of depth in some positions now which is what I think we need to address for next season. Some star players may leave but I am hopeful of keeping the young core of the team which can hopefully improve next season.

Awards

image.png.8040ad2cee7ce5b36e1cad10a7cc6c64.png

No awards for us this year other than Thomas Diallo finishing third in the Young Player of the Year, which was a bit odd as Macou Dieng had a better season and is also 19..

Top Performers

image.png.133bfde633cf9fa77cedaacd60cea492.png

The absolute star of the team up front. A shame that he has no interest in renewing his contract as he thinks he is better than the team, which is probably true as he is attracting interest from decent clubs in his homeland.

image.png.a1acae4b113f69912db3255e02c83372.png

Good season from the loanee, he was not a regular start but always delivered when he played. I have managed to extend his loan so he will spend a third season with us.

image.png.611e0714c7bd2531bf222883b5ccd62f.png

Our top scorer but not as good as last season. His importance to the team is diminishing and I may look to move him on if I find better foreign options.

Finances

image.png.598dad7b28543825d3524545a2c16279.png

Still terrible, this may start impacting what we can do with this team.

Progress

image.png.0350d439ea5f3461d09e3adf76a9d47a.png

We still have some way to go in order to compete with the top team. Hopefully we can close the gap next year but I can see us staying at least another 2-3 years before we eventually win something.

2046/47 West African Review

CAF Champions League

image.png.444dc3a742a9953dd8edc8e09d42fccb.png

Better participation this year with 7 sides making it to the Group Stage and only AS Douanes and Horoya AC not making it to the Quarter Finals.

image.png.31ff06c768f4ac282613ce2b8ad9d978.png

Despite West African dominance at this stage with 3 out of 4 Semi Finalists it was Morocco's Wydad Casablanca who won their 4th title after beating Asante Kotoko on penalties.

CAF Confederation Cup

image.png.fc07eecab58008f4b1c5a307f1672489.png

5 West Africans make this stage with only 3 progressing to the Quarter Finals. Africa Sports narrowly missing out on a spot in a tough group and SONACOS with a terrible debut where they lost all 6 games.

image.png.7e7bd911278b975647d584d1281067d0.png

Great performance from ASEC Mimosas to beat two great sides before edging fellow West Africans WAFA SC to win their first ever CAF Confederations Cup.

image.png.11ee671cca628630192bc11056e5839d.png

Some great movement from West African leagues as Ghana is now the second highest rated in the continent, with Senegal and Ivory Coast also making gains, the latter overtaking Mali to becomes the 5th strongest league in the region.

League Champions

image.png.9f396ca1e611e29d1d31dd3fc40202cb.png

No new champions this year as most of the big teams win another national trophy.

Former Champions

MC Breweries: Another decent performance in the league as they finish 3rd, but they did suffer an early exit in the LFA Cup.

Kamboi Eagles: Retained the title impressively and now have 6th in total.

Nô Pintcha da Brava: Some sort of redemption as they reclaim the Brava Island double, but fail to get far in National competitions.

AFC Nhacra: Amazing season as they claim the double!

Ayéma FC: 3 points off the top again, but this time finishing as runners-up.

CNEPS Excellence: Another very good season as they almost complete a domestic treble, only losing the League Cup final, as they reach the Semi-Finals in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Banjul Utd: Terrible season in the 2nd flight as they finish in their worst position since the start of the save down in 8th and far away from promotion.

ASN NIGELEC: A solid 3rd place finish in the league, in the Coupe du Niger they are knocked out in the Quarter Final.

With the board cutting our wage budget by $2k p/m to $12k p/m we released even more players to enable us to sign a key replacement up front and bolster the squad a little. Only a couple of players will add to the first team.

image.png.490228befc908637354e5907d0deac1a.png

Very decent young midfielder to add to an already very good midfield.

image.png.1cb44c7352436927f9ca60f89f202f0c.png

Not as good as the outgoing Macou Dieng (who painfully has signed for ASC Kara), but will hopefully do the job for us.

image.png.62ef09be117ab5876ec1313b64bd8a13.png

After two productive loan spells we brought him in on a free to fight for the DLF spot.

Best XI

image.png.ad091b54597b5a24f3f7f8b5769daeac.png

Very similar to last season, but with a lot of these young players improving in the off-season. We are a bit short at the back so have to hope for injury free defenders.

Initial Fixtures

We carried on with the good form, with only red cards hampering our progress, against SNPT we still won but then dropped points against Gbohloé-su when we played with 10 men for over 60 minutes. Qualification is assured though alongside AS Togo-Port and AS OTR.

A few loans in to get us more squad depth with no wage costs. Rui Cabral was brought in to replace Diop at left back who will go back to his homeland in Senegal in March, but turns out he is not as good as my scouts suggested so will be back-up instead. I am struggling to keep hold of players as 3 more first teamers have decided to leave at the end of the season - we will have some rebuilding to do in the off season.

Next Fixtures

I am starting to really despise ASC Kara. We held on until the 70th minute but then they went on a rout and finished any hopes we had of competing for the title, which looks to be between them and ASKO. The rest of the month was actually pretty good as we get our first win against ASKO.

2047/48 Season Review

image.png.d8ab8e7d50ac8b3594efa7479205b16f.png

Absolute standout player for us this season, unfortunately he is set to leave as he has not interest in renewing his contract. Having to find a top striker every season is becoming a routine thing for us to do.

image.png.58ede5e29ef9a31ab07a97ec457edd71.png

Contributes a lot to our positive attacking play and is still very young.

image.png.d39a5fe6536d10c8071d07c542b66b14.png

The Bissau-Guinean has been a great Mezzala for us this season.

Finances

2047/48 West African Review

CAF Champions League

image.png.c8968fb970f9ff491c4a6177e7b0d0eb.png

Participation was down again this year with only 5 West Africans in the Group Stage, however the biggest disappointment is that for the first time in a long time there are no West African sides in the Quarter Finals as all failed to make it in their group. Wydad Casablanca retained their title by beating Sundowns in the final on penalties to claim their 5th title.

CAF Confederation Cup

image.png.edc1aaa30b49cae9f22f6d324d7d94e2.png

Really light participation here too but at least all 4 West African sides at this Stage made it out of their groups.

image.png.7d62820a33cf532ac36086b97e2948e7.png

Club Africain was the bain of West African sides as they beat three of them to claim their 3rd Confederation Cup crown.

West African League Rankings

image.png.ad36c24ed44407e43cbefd21aae08b90.png

Not a lot of movement this year with the only one of note being Senegal overtaking Nigeria to have the second most reputable League in the region.

League Champions

image.png.9839b0783505eae905f0a1a36c831e1d.png

A shock first time winner as FC Cumura claim the title in their second season since coming up. The dominant sides continue to be dominant although in Mali Yeelen Olympique claimed their second title in a row in what must feel like a really long dry spell for Stade Malien.

Former Champions

MC Breweries: A solid 4th place and a run to the final of the LFA Cup, where they lost to LPRC Oilers.

Kamboi Eagles: A big fall this year as they only finished 7th in the SLPL.

Nô Pintcha da Brava: Similar to last season as they win the Brava Island double, but fail to get far in National competitions.

AFC Nhacra: Finished second to surprise winners FC Cumura and did not do well in the cup.

Ayéma FC: A second successive runners-up finish for them in another strong campaign.

CNEPS Excellence: Really the dominant side in Senegal right now, won another title comfortably. Cup performances were disappointing, including finishing bottom of their Champions League Group and getting to the Semi Final of the Coupe du Sénégal being the best domestic cup achievement.

Banjul Utd: The shocking downfall continues as they finish bottom of the Second Division by a mile and are now relegated into an unplayable league.

ASN NIGELEC: Great season as they won their second title, first since Kojo left, and got to the Semi Final of the Coupe du Niger.

September/October 2048

image.png.6172f5ff6f967a6bbae0ccc22babce36.png

Because the Confederation Cup starts way before the league season and we are still building a squad I thought I would update on our campaign before doing the Season Preview. The Preliminary Round was a walk as Somalian side Heegan were really weak. In the First Round we played Kenyan giants Gor Mahia, who from what the score suggests beat us easily, but the tie was a lot more even than the scoreline as we created by far more chances in both matches but were not clinical enough, whilst Gor Mahia pretty much scored every time they took a shot on goal. First Round is where the board expected us to get to so I suppose I cant be too upset.

2048/49 Season Preview

image.png.3f149bdf92ff19f6d2636bd60b507283.png

We are getting some recognition as we are now ranked second favorites and have 3 players in the Media Dream Eleven. You might notice Sarr and N'Diaye in the Media Eleven - AS OTR managed to snatch them both which has me very worried for competition...

image.png.35177e42fb82680a1994e301267e6799.png

Our transfer business was reasonably successful - we had three big voids to fill at LB, CB, DM and ST and we got like for like replacements in all positions other than DM, where I managed to repurpose one of our good young midfielders to the position. We also managed to bring a really good AP in and some cover at the back, although the latter was more numbers vs quality. Some new players in our first XI:

image.png.30f2fa1df5a0f9b8cc523038734a8d9a.png

Comes in to replace Claude Ouro at the back. Older and more experienced is a good short term solution as I really struggled to find any other CBs.

image.png.62b4851b3ce87257aca9fdad0431a148.png

Good loanee from the Ivory Coast - we dont have to worry about LB for this season at least.

image.png.d2e44d16525c44f63a488626e32f9ee1.png

Former Gambian U20 international is a decent use of a foreign spot for the AP role.

image.png.0f61af8be319d82023ce5d24deaf3394.png

I thought replacing Papa N'Diaye would be difficult but this guy may do the trick, he looks scarily good for this level. Will probably leave in a season so lets enjoy him for now :D

image.png.b07eed31cb928a0fd2f59d3363b3f30a.png

Another good young player spotted by the scouts - will play in the DLF role for us.

Best XI

image.png.e57874b6f92fc569802e89a7a8cfee77.png

Me and the assistant 100% aligned on the First XI. I am reasonably happy with the squad, other than lack of depth at CB, RB and DM - will look to address those in January.

Initial Fixtures

A good start as you like with plenty of goals and we sit in 2nd, but with a game in hand to AS Togo-Port. AS OTR had a surprisingly terrible start and even sat bottom after 3 games, but seem to have steadied the ship and are back in the top 3.

Signed a 16 year old striker with bags of potential, who will play with the U20s this season and Abdou Yacoubou comes back on loan to provide better coverage at CB. Not proactively looking at transfers this window but may sign players if the opportunity arises seeing as we have plenty of wage budget left.

We bring in two defensive reinforcements, the first good cover at right back and centre back and the second a great coup on deadline day as we snatch a former ASC Kara starting center back on a free. He is a Nigerien international but has been in Togo so long that he qualified for citizenship - he will be our starting CB alongside Diallo.

It is, but at least the side is getting better each season, slowly but surely we'll get there, hopefully :)

I think it will be tough in most countries from now on because the big sides are so dominant - Burkina Faso is the next one on the list currently and CF Rahimo have won 10+ consecutive titles!

2048/49 Season Review

image.png.6a762b3e8925920286d2062b0bb2199e.png

We finish one place below last season and miss out on continental football, we were never going to catch ASC Kara but dropped a few unnecessary points that saw ASKO finish ahead of us, conceding a late equalizer at home against them being one of them. The Confederation Cup journey was short but a fun "pre-season" distraction.

Squad by Appearances

image.png.07a0d256e8e00de85e4bf495bef7f41d.png

image.png.fd274ba7ff78b546833f3eae5fc282c5.png

We had a very established First XI other than RB where we rotated between three similar options. The good news so far is that we renewed all contracts other than Mutasa, but interest for our players is increasing again.

Only one player in the team of the season but we have the top two young players of the season, with the top 3 all being foreign.

Top Performers

image.png.98b6a6f65c50d378cbacb0b4b9bfc32d.png

One of the first signings made, still a constant good performer for the side, this was probably his best season.

image.png.05b9a4c7baf1d042063b1cc95d8575b5.png

Another year, another great striker we have to replace.

image.png.6fedcaf94af84aa9a6d7e42507c7fd7c.png

Very good DLF and staying with us, although interest from his home country has appeared recently.

Finances

image.png.36ff09289790e50f6b6255d863c5fa8d.png

Amazingly we only lost $2k this year as gate receipts almost quadrupled, the board is unhappy with me however for not rectifying the financial damage and the club is up for sale, so the next couple of months will be interesting on this side of things.

Progress

image.png.41c3436aa2f0ae0c0050482ba5ba41ae.png

Sara FC is now officially the longest time we have spent at a club and whilst progress is made we are still some way off ASC Kara. The job at Unisport has become available and whilst they had a terrible year they are a much bigger club. We have applied and if we are offered the job a big decision will need to be made.

This was probably the hardest decision to make in this save so far. We are so close with Sara FC but I believe there is a bug with reputation in Togo as despite all the overachievement our reputation (or anyone elses has not changed in the last 5 seasons). Unisport have a much better reputation than Sara FC so ultimately give us a better shot in the long term to catch ASC Kara.

Unisport FC de Sokodé is a team from Sokodé, the second largest city in Togo with around 120 thousand inhabitants. They are a young club, having been founded in 2012 and despite not having any achievements of note have always been in the top flight. Although not represented in the game their rivals are AC Sèmassi who are also from Sokodé but have won national titles. In-game they have come close a few times, being runners-up 4 times in the Championship Group.

Unisport play their games at the Stade Municipal de Sokodé, which holds 10,000 people and is shared with AC Sèmassi and Tchaoudjo AC.

Assistant XI

Iimage.png.c88cfeeb9c2c5b40a9b6b01a91603935.png

It does seem like we are stronger up front than at the back, although I would not read much into it as a lot of contracts are up and we have almost 6 months to rebuild the squad.

Top Rated Players

image.png.e8329ebc3f0b47f5f857489f231f2484.png

Very decent looking AP and at 30 still has a few years left in him.

image.png.0eda7e8cfd0cbd3b9544460eff271d27.png

Apparently our best striker but leaving the club in a months time, not sure I am that upset over it with that finishing of 3.

image.png.919bec658816dc631a62b13bff349837.png

This one is staying and looks like he could do the job for us.

Finances

image.png.0f32551b9468cf03d7166aa4564a4272.png

FInances are similar to Sara FC and wage budget is actually a bit lower, but plenty to build a decent team in the long run.

Initial Fixtures

The season just finished so we have plenty of time to look at the team and make changes. I dont expect us to be competitive from the off, but this move feels like a case of taking a step back now to take two forward in the future.

CAF Champions League

League Champions

Two first time champions in Senegal and Niger as the record winners did not do as well this year as they typically do with them winning it in only 5 of the 15 countries.

Former Champions

MC Breweries: Terrible season as they finish in 8th, one point away from relegation, and are knocked out at the last 16 stage of the LFA Cup.

Kamboi Eagles: A big fall this year as they only finished 7th in the SLPL.

Nô Pintcha da Brava: Amazing season as they win their 2nd Cape Verdean Competition and first since Kojo lead them 23 years ago!

AFC Nhacra: A season of almosts for them as they finish 3 points off 1st place in the league and runners up in the cup.

Ayéma FC: Not as good of a season as they finish in 6th.

CNEPS Excellence: Their league winning run comes to an end as they finish second. They did win the Coupe du Sénégal though and got to the Quarter Final of the Champions League, so still had a decent season.

Banjul Utd: Still in an unplayable league and not promoted back up to the Second Tier.

ASN NIGELEC: Couldnt follow up their title winning season successfully as they finish 5th and are knocked out in the Quarter Final of the Coupe du Niger.

Really interesting seeing how much the sides in Senegal have improved in the African competitions since you went there - also CNEPS have really kicked on since you won that title, I wonder if had you stayed if the Champions League title would eventually come

Yes I really don’t understand how the league was so low down the rankings. The Gambian, Niger and Togo leagues are terrible by comparison!

CNEPS was the perfect club due to their financial situation and it was probably the hardest to leave, I did think it was an ideal candidate for Kojo to get a CL. Hopefully they can do it without him :)

2049/50 Season Preview

image.png.17e8de1772e20a007e39b525906831ab.png

First quirk to notice is that we moved 50km south and are now playing in the Northern Zone :D. We are third favorites behind ASC Kara and ASKO, playing them more regularly might end up being frustrating but it is a good thing. We only have one player in the Media Dream Eleven who is a familiar face from Sara FC, there will be plenty more from the Transfers we made...

To say we raided Sara FC would be an understatement as our First XI practically is the same Kojo had at his old club. I feel bad for Sara FC but there werent better players around and most of them could be snapped up for free, which was the problem there. At Unisport some of the players have value and I was able to sign them for longer agreements, which indicates moving was the right thing to do. This wont be new faces but I might as well show the new Sara FC first eleven at Unisport :D

image.png.2c98e20f87d036c6671fab5805389097.png

I also signed ASC Kara's former goalkeeper who is Togo's number 1, but Keita is still better so will start for us.

Just such a good defender and I am glad we have him signed for a few seasons.

The third one, all young and very decent players.

image.png.16ceae5b3f1dd9f5de708ee64a5632bc.png

Was going to lose him at Sara FC and have been able to tie him up for 3 seasons at Unisport, which is massive.

Kudzai's strike partner joins too!

Best XI

We had a very established first team which was essentially a replica of what we had at Sara FC. Priority will be a DM and a LB, but I am open to exceptional talent at other positions too.

CAF Champions League

image.png.575fba31703db27976ab6b694b256d77.png

Very disappointing performance from West Africa this season as only 5 teams make it to the Group Stage and only Asante Kotoko making it through to the Quarter Final.

image.png.d80b0b82c333f26a2bb1cbd0e3256481.png

Asante Kotoko did well to knock out the Casablance duo but were not strong enough against Al-Ahly in the final, who win a record extending 13th title.

CAF Confederation Cup

Kamboi Eagles: Shock as Kamboi Eagles finish in 15th and are relegated into an unplayable league...

Nô Pintcha da Brava: Huge hangover from their success last season as they only finish 3rd in the Liga Brava, at least they won the Taça Brava.

AFC Nhacra: An OK season as they finish 4th in the league and get to the Quarter Final of the Cup

Ayéma FC: Better season for them as they finish 3rd in the Championship Group.

CNEPS Excellence: Off the pace in the league as they finish 3rd. They did win the Senegalese League Cup however and made it to the Group Stages of the Champions League.

Banjul Utd: Still in an unplayable league for the 3rd season running and not promoted back up to the Second Tier.

ASN NIGELEC: Not too far off the top as they finish 3rd in the Superligue and are knocked out in the Last 16 of the Coupe du Niger.

2050/51 Season Preview

We are still third favorites but our odds are longer now, probably due to how much more of a favorite ASC Kara have been made. On the plus side we have a second player in the Media Dream Eleven with our new LB signing.

Our wage budget was cut in half, which was not a huge deal as we were using less than half of it anyway, but I took the opportunity to clear out as much of the squad as I could to help with finances. I may have gone too far but with a short 24 game season we should be OK if we avoid major injuries.

On the incoming side it is becoming really tough to sign Togolese players, the good ones end up going to ASCK Kara or ASKO so all I brought in were squad players. The two to make our first team are foreign, I did not find a decent DM so signed Mamadou Dago instead, who will play as our DLF, with Marc Koné being shifted to midfield. At LB I initially signed Kamagaté as he played for me at Sara FC, but when Nwaiwu became available I had to go for him and ended up moving Kamagaté to the U20s and will look to move him on in the mid-season transfer window.

Not quite sure why the two new signings are not on here, the would slot in at WB and DLF, with Marc Koné moving to either Mez or BBM.

This has to go down as a good month as we comfortably beat ASKO and draw against ASC Kara in a very even match, We have to replica this in the Championship Group now.

Two real tests this month, would be great to survive them unbeaten.

We were 2-0 up at half time at ASKO so it was disappointing to see them turn the game around. And it was what cost us the Northern Zone title as we did brilliantly to draw at ASC Kara which saw ASKO leapfrog over both of us and claim that title for the first time in 12 years. Lets hope we can keep those performances up in the Championship Group, if we do we will be able to challenge for the title.

Straight up against ASKO and ASC Kara in our first few games, which will shape our Championship Group campaign. You will notice Gbohloé-su making it to the Championship Group, they did this at the expense of AS OTR, which is good news as we struggled against them last season.
