The Save

I have been struggling to get into saves recently so have decided to try something a little different. I have created my son in the game and my plan is to keep him at the same club and try and break all goalscoring records at the club and appearance holder. He will play until he retires!

He has the current ability of the current teams level (Colchester) and I have given him some good potential as well!

He looks good!

His current ability at the start was 100. I gave him decent PA as well so that when we reach the top he can handle himself!

International Debut

It was a debut of his dreams for young Northern Irish striker Freddie Lyness as just 85 seconds into his debut as Gavin Whyte's cross fell to him just 4 yards out and with the net gaping he thumped it home. After Dallas had already doubled the lead came the 2nd goal. This time Lewis down the left hand side whips in a beautiful cross which is met perfectly on the forehead and thumped into the top corner to send the home fans wild. There was no hat trick to come but an amazing start for the youngster.

Lyness Mid Season Review

Club Review

What a season it has been thus far for Freddie Lyness for Colchester. In the league he has 22 goals  in 22 games along with 7 assists. He is the top scorer in the league comfortably at the minute. From the penalty spot has been more of a struggle only converting 2 out of the 4 he has had thus far.  In the 3 other cup competitions he competed in he managed to find the net in all of them. Firstly a hat trick in the Carabao Cup win over Swindon before he got a consolation goal in the FA Cup loss against Tranmere. The Papa John's trophy he only appeared once from the bench to get us our equalizer in the first knockout round which unfortunately was ended by a penalty shootout!

International Review

Taking out friendlies Lyness has played twice for the Northern Irish u21 team scoring once before scoring a goal and becoming the youngest ever scorer in a World Cup Qualifying game against Bulgaria! On top of this he has 2 more goals in a friendly against Japan.

The Player

The player is progressing really well and now has a current ability of 112.  He has been the standout player in the league thus far and is continuing to develop well. Have tried to rest him in a few league games and all the Papa John Cup games to ease the workload on him slightly.

Appearances: 29 (1) Goals: 29 Assists: 7 MOTM: 6 Av. Rating: 7.73

The signings we brought in definitely allowed us to boost our chances for promotion. And that along with the form of Lyness really allowed us to become a force in the division. We score a high number of goals leading to some very entertaining games!

League Table

We were a bit up and down but a great run in April spring boarded us to top of the league and that is where we finished!

FA Cup

Poor here. We really should have won both games but poor defensive lapses see us go out at he first hurdle.

Carabao Cup

We managed to get through the first round but a tough draw away to Southampton saw us out in the 2nd round!

Papa John's Trophy

Our backup players got through the group stage but poor finishing was costly in the first knockout stage as we went out on penalties!

Good wins against Japan and then Bulgaria before I gave a lot of young players debuts in a 4-3 defeat against Armenia!

A group we really should be pushing to win here!

No real big transfers here. We did lose some of our backup players for nominal feels. The one big transfer was Chilvers to Luton for up to 235k with a 20% sell on fee as well.

A lot of smart business done here. No money spent and the money brought in for the players sold was used for wages to bring our teams skill level up a level or 2. The 2 loan signings from City really helped us kick on in the 2nd half of the season as well.

Player Review - Junior Tchamadeu

A very impressive season from our young right back. 4 assists and 1 goal with an impressive 7.25 average rating! Still more room to grow as well for us!
