Another very solid season for us. We got a lot of good development within the first team which means we are more than capable of holding our own at this level now with the 3 or 4 first team players coming through from the intake filling in some areas we were struggling in.

Playoffs

f509c2d788e1dafc3e0d64f442d635a4.png

Well that was unexpected. Our away form hasnt been great this season but a very good win away at Bury set us up in the semi finals against Darlington who were first pretty much throughout the entire season until the lost on the last day! We were battered here but managed to somehow stay in the game and take it to penalties where thankfully we won the lottery! In the final we faced 4th placed Kidderminster and were much more comfortable in this game with our counter attacking football which leads us to the National League!

League Table

aa02a5f885cce8b162f0d757c7828f5d.png

We were yo-yo'ing in and out of the playoffs the whole season but towards the end we cemented a spot and the rest was history!

FA Cup

9eacaf3ab59627e53923057547ccd48e.png

Another great run here with the victory over Millwall probably the biggest in this teams history! Blackburn comfortably beat us in the next round but that run really helped the finances!

FA Trophy

94277fd3f5ff63fb806ae955d25e6b2c.png

A competition we just cant seem to get a run in. A rotated squad in both games but it wasnt to be as we are knocked out early on again!

Player Review - Dylan Bull (YP26B)

2955661423d7a8586ccdd67fa7f0430f.png

Really developed nicely this season and is juggling 2 different positions now in the deep lying role and the role just behind the 2 strikers. 5 goals and 14 assists is a very solid season!

Player Of The Season - Javier Murray (YP25B)

a718176cf6a95154e5e2a5e37304e5ea.png

The assist machine from last season is this seasons player of the season. This time he added goals to his game as well. He scored 14 times and grabbed 16 assists this season with an average rating of 7.30!

Young Player Of The Season - Ryan Morris-Madden (YP27D)

267ba98018191d52a527dcc73791267c.png

With losing Gibbs (YP23A) in the summer he was tasked to replace him in the starting 11 at a very young age. He scored 20 times in 34 (20) appearances and notched up 10 assists!

Out

26db72d5053974820ce356e4a2086bdb.png

We lost 2 players in the summer transfer window with Gibbs being the big loss. He scored 6 goals in 21 games this season for Phoenix! As we still sign some players on non contracts to save on wages we do open ourselves up to losing some on free transfers but these tend to be those who are not in the first team currently. This year we lost 3 thanks to this!

Summer Transfer Window

Out

2dfd191de987613c64ea16beb6885cd2.png

It has not been a good summer/autumn for us. We lost 2 starting players in Bull and Morris-Madden as well as some very good potential players in Cotton and Dodd. Our numbers are getting smaller and smaller so I need to be smarter on the types of contract I am handing out currently.

I did a little bit of research into the National League North/South vs National League. The top 6 in the North/South League average CA is roughly the same with only Doncaster skewing the numbers in our league. After doing this I wasnt surprised we did quite well including a 13 game unbeaten run which sent us into the playoffs!

Playoffs

837d5fa1b02a9a6928d7b84df211e6bb.png

Well another playoff win! 2 of the games went to extra time. Torquay we were the better team but needed a 92nd minute equaliser before a 120th minute winner! Woking we struggled in and it was more about staying in the game and taking any chances that came our way! The final we again played some good football again and probably should have won it in normal time but had to wait until a 113th minute winner to send us into the football league!

Player Review - Kevin McCarthy (YP26D)

988f6a132b3d7eb1ce4d1fe79242aeb4.png

Really good that he can cover both sides now. Great mental stats for this level. Played 28 times this season grabbing 2 assists. Capped at u19 level for Ireland also!

Player Of The Season - Kevin Barton (YP25C)

5ec5812e39d89687920bb6928e01cce6.png

Still our min centre back with very good mentals and solid physicals. Technically needs work but played 43 (2) times this season getting 6 goals and 4 assists!

Young Player Of The Season - Javier Murray (YP25B)

7e42dd3c325fb5c0eb27818601b2c18b.png

Again another solid season for us by Murray who got 16 assists and 7 goals this season!

Summer Transfers

Out

f2da18ffaf7acc74baf64aeccc008cd0.png

Parsons and Hayball were lost on frees. Hamilton was no longer required despite being our 4th or 5th choice centre back. Others have higher potential and with his limited potential I decided it was best to move him on. Carlile was the big one. With our current financial state now the board jumped in and accepted a frankly awful offer. We do have a sell on at least so if he reaches his potential could get us some decent £££.

Youth Intake 2030

Overview

1a8c4d304dd41923ba8da18d36c45ee5.png

Well hello! Our first intake as a professional club and it shows. We have 3 players who will come straight into the first team in Moore, Stringfellow and Wilton with both Berberi and Cairns are not far off either! Nice to see 2 new nationalities in Gibraltarian and Albanian!

The Players

Just going to show those who are coming up into the first team now. I will do squad reviews moving down the line for those who may join the first team after a season or 2 of development!

e3d8d08ef148e34ae045851bc8fa3a3a.png

I like the look of Moore as a winger. Good pace and acceleration and has good technique and touch with dribbling and crossing not far off double figures also! Will come straight into our first team squad and get game time!

d77b42e6efd6c4def366f8fecbf98e81.png

The most complete player we have had come through so far. Will come in as a starting striker for us. Not sure how long we will be able to keep him but will try and tie him down to a long term contract as soon as possible!

58c8cf53ce91e2744627ffdcd8c98f2a.png

Another solid striker option here and will become our 4th choice striker!

cbe8771ed7b6f94bc434e5f77fea4c3b.png

Will be brought up to the first team next season to be our backup DM!

26e15f1ed52705cce952a27559a8b9ee.png

Another solid winger here who isnt far off coming up to the first team as a backup!

Our team really developed this season now that we are professional. We do play attacking football which can backfire at times but is definitely entertaining. We are now covered in most areas in terms of no real weaknesses which shows as we finished 6th and got into the playoffs.

Playoffs

1bc37b022d1fd44ae4c0a3a1d65cff03.png

The story of the playoffs was red cards. The first leg against Gillingham was a classic and it was very tight until a last minute winner by us. The 2nd leg saw Gillingham have 2 men sent off early in the 2nd half which enabled us to dominate and batter them 5-0. In the final Accrington were down to 10 men after 8mins. This turned the game completely and enabled us to go up.

Utilised the reserves here and they did well to get through the first round on penalties before losing the next round in the same manner.

Handy for giving some of the backup players some minutes here to aid development. Kept all games tight!

Player Review - Alimamy Sesay

e499f0428bb5c04a9c04a636643ad4e5.png

He is capped 6 times by Sierra Leone now and developing really well and is first choice centre back now. 7 goals and 3 assists in 44 appearances!

Player Of The Season - Barnabas Victor

d34f112c64c7c6b3ef18776a6637625b.png

We struggled to keep him in the summer but once his unhappiness went away we were able to lock him down to a new deal. He scored 24 goals and got 18 assists in 49 games! Starting to be used in the AMC role now as well now that we have more options up top!

Young Player Of The Season - Luke O'Boyle

Player Review - Gary Moore (YP30A)

06945248420d8950e8952f3d84964d76.png

Now fully capped with Gibraltar he has become one of our starting wingers. 5 goals and 12 assists this season!

Player Of The Season - Tom Thompson (YP29D)

0218c437a11e4b4dda8625aacc4b54e0.png

We struggled to keep him in the January transfer window and had to protest a transfer on deadline day. 16 goals and 5 assists this season. I will be be upping his asking price in the hope of scaring away suitors!

Young Player Of The Season - Luke O'Boyle (YP29C)

4e6b16d32b52957c343a16582539759d.png

A very impressive season this year. Played rotationally up top scoring 15 goals and 4 assists in only 25 (2) appearances!

Dream Cup Run

5b5977c60b3f76ce60a2e8c4ff5cf53d.png

We are into the semi final of the FA Cup. We have had a very kind run thus far only playing one Premier League team in Wolves who we somehow nicked a replay off before beating their 8 men (yes 8 MEN!) a ridiculous 9-4 at home which set up the above tie against Championship Bournemouth who we have just beaten!

Young Player Of The Season - Dale Roe (YP29E)

Our young player of the season and for one big reason alone. He scored the goal that is sending us to the Championship! Outside of that though he had a fantastic season averaging 7.07 whilst grabbing 6 goals and 2 assists!
