How much do you typically go over a players value?

Given that you have the budget do you have  set amount over a player's value that you set as your limit? I find that I get buyers remorse at times but that's countered by "what if " I had bought that player.

Obviously what standard you are in can be very relevant, but I would rarely go over 1.25% of in-game value for a cheaper player and 1.1% for an expensive one.  It also boils down to how much you want him and how much added value he can bring- if he is the diamond that you will build the team around for a decade then then will be no limit if it is within the budget.

It depends entirely on how much that player is needed, whether there are similar, cheaper alternatives, fan reaction. All sorts of things. I've gone £20m over a £40m guide price to stop my rivals signing a player I wanted.

Given that player values since FM21 are displayed in ranges, it's a bit difficult to estimate a clear price tag upon which to add the premium you are asking about. I typically only make offers to transferred players. I offer what is being asked, but often try to break it down into multi-year payments. The extra, above the asked price, I may offer in form of a future profit percentage, varying from 5 to 25% (higher for older, 32+ players).
