I patted James Milner on the shoulder but his body language remained unchanged

Has anybody actually had a reaction from a player when they choose to pat hsoulders, or hug or handshake?

Ive tried it about 20 times, eg after a player winning an award, but they never react to it.

I've had a few reactions, but nothing significant or particularly interesting.

I very rarely see a difference in body language, but if it does generate a reaction I find it helps ensure the player reacts positively to whatever your saying. I always use it in training if criticising a players development.

I haven't had a single player have a positive response to handshakes, pats on shoulder, or swats on the butt. Doesn't matter if they hold me in the highest regard or hate my guts.

Just to show that it is possible - this is a player I had at my previous club as well and I am in his favoured personnel list.

 

Bad reactions are possible too
