RichH
How have Tottenham already qualified? If Tottenham lose their remaining two games (Berlin and Benfica) and Benfica beat Vienna and Tottenham by more than 3-0 then Berlin are on 11 (plus whatever they get against Vienna) and Benfica are on 10 with Tottenham. Yet the Q has appeared and I got the email saying I had qualified for the first round! Some have suggested other head to head results but I can't work out how. The results of the group so far are: Matchday One: Vienna 1-4 Benfica - Berlin 2-2 Spurs Matchday Two: Vienna 1-3 Berlin - Spurs 3-0 Benfica Matchday Three: Benfica 1-1 Berlin - Spurs 8-0 Vienna Matchday Four: Vienna 0-4 Spurs - Berlin 2-0 Benfica Can anyone solve this mystery? FrazT
Head to head between teams on the same number of points is the first tie break: See here: Tiebreakers[edit] Teams were ranked according to points (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss). If two or more teams were tied on points, the following tiebreaking criteria were applied, in the order given, to determine the rankings (see Article 17 Equality of points – group stage, Regulations of the UEFA Champions League):[2] Points in head-to-head matches among the tied teams; Goal difference in head-to-head matches among the tied teams; Goals scored in head-to-head matches among the tied teams; If more than two teams were tied, and after applying all head-to-head criteria above, a subset of teams were still tied, all head-to-head criteria above were reapplied exclusively to this subset of teams; Goal difference in all group matches; Goals scored in all group matches; Away goals scored in all group matches; Wins in all group matches; Away wins in all group matches; Disciplinary points (direct red card = 3 points; double yellow card = 3 points; single yellow card = 1 point); UEFA club coefficient. Due to the abolition of the away goals rule, head-to-head away goals were no longer applied as a tiebreaker starting from this season. However, total away goals were still applied as a tiebreaker.[8]
RichH
Yes but Benfica have to play Tottenham still so could beat them by more than 3-0 and they are winning the head to head
USASoundersFan
I think it's a bug. I hope that if Spurs does lose twice and ends up third, behind Benfica on head-to-head goal difference, the "Q" would disappear.
