I have some questions about the game

Recommended Posts

Hi,

So I bought FM22 back in July and have been playing the game for about a month now, before that I was playing FM18. What made my experience with FM18 bad was mainly because I don't know much about football roles so I was downloading and using other people tactics and while some tactics works well in the first season it became bad in the second season due to the AI manager adapting to my tactic which makes sense. On the other hand I really love FM22 because of the preset tactic (I am using gegenpress) which seems to work season after season and I don't know why LOL.

Anyway now I know I have a tactic I don't need to change every season I want to know more about player traits as I don't really understand some of them, for example:

Player instruction                Trait

Get Further Forward           Gets Forward Whenever Possible
Cuts Inside                            Cut Inside With Ball
Move Into Channels            Moves Into Channels
Hold Position                       Stays Back At All Times
Tackle Harder                      Dives Into Tackles
More Risky Passes              Tries Killer Ball Often

So above is just a few examples. Like I understand traits are behaviour and how frequent a player will perform it but what I don't understand is when I am reading on this forum about player traits or watching video about player traits some people would suggests traits that is already hard coded in the player role, like for example an advanced playmaker already has the PI More Risky Passes so for me I would say it is not needed to teach Tries Killer Ball Often if the player don't have this trait as what else would the player be doing??

Another question I have is the in game editor. Why is the loyalty bonus/ signing on fee and sell on clause - percentage of profit from next sale uneditable or removable?

Here about essential and controversial player traits for each role:

Goalkeeping Roles
Central Defense Roles
Central Midfield Roles
Flank Roles
Central Attack Roles

I have looked through this website before but my question is why recommend trait that is already hard coded in the player instruction for the role he is playing

Player traits are behaviours that players will show during the match regardless of your tactical set-up while player instructions are what you ask your players to do. You have a guarantee that players will play according to their traits, but not that players will listen and play as you instruct them through tactics, PIs and OIs, either because they're incapable of playing their assgined role/fulfilling their dutiy or because they don't care.

In other words, an AP with tries killer balls more often is a safer bet that he'll try killer balls more often than an AP without that trait.

I don't think it's a good idea to use the same tactic across FM versions, for a simple reason: the developers are always tweaking with the match engine. So, you'll find out that some roles or areas perform quite differently between FM versions. For example, this year, FM22 has messed up Defense mentality. Next year?...
