Summer window done and dusted..

Transfers in were exactly as stated in post Above : Bellingham £87m, Alejandro Balde £31m, Illia Zabarnyi £11m and Nicolo Barella P/EX - Total £129m

Transfers out were : Anderson Arroyo £1.8m which was his clause in his loan, Jota £60m, Keita £25m + Barella, Firmino £37m, Tsimikas £30m, Matip £25m as well as Releasing almost all the U21 and U18.

Of those that stayed a few went out on loan while a couple that made the summer cut ended up sold in January - Total £183m

Tried my hardest to sell Thiago but no one would take him off my hands. Even at a reduced price of £10m

Charity Shield we beat City again 2-1. An experimental side consisting of some youth and a few senior stars somehow snagged a win despite being under great duress for majority of the match.

Into the Carabao Cup final. We have beat Leicester, Millwall, Wolves and Arsenal and will face surprise finalists Bournemouth

Champions league. We coasted through our group which consisted of Milan, Atletico Madrid and Young Boys. We face Lazio in the last 16

League - Despite not feeling as consistent as we were last season we are currently top after 26 games with 6 draws and 1 loss on the Record to Chelsea a 4-2 loss away from home where we had to field a couple of players that weren't match ready (At this point I was missing both LB's, Trent & Fabinho had to play despite only just recovered from injury, Salah was out and had to field Gomez at LB who got roasted the whole game by Sterling!)

Season 2 done..

League wasn't such a stroll this year. However we still managed to win the League, A lot closer than I would have liked 85pts. City 2nd on 82pts. Spurs and Arsenal in the other Champs league positions. We did win the league with a few games to spare so got to give a fair bit of game time to those who weren't regulars which eventually led to City closing that gap to just 3 points.

W26 D7 L5

Carabao Cup - Bournemouth were simply not anywhere near us and a 4-0 win cemented the trophy 2 years in a row.

FA Cup. Disappointing loss against Newcastle.. 1-0 down we got it back to 1-1 then we fell apart handing them 2 goals within 12 minutes. Salah pulled one back for us, but in our need to grab a goal I went a little too gung ho and they grabbed a fourth to win 4-2

Champions league - strolled out of the groups to face Lazio in the last 16, 3-0 win away, 3-0 win at home sent us through to face Barca. A much tougher tie we lost 3-2 away. Meaning we had to pull a rabbit out of the hat in the return. It took until the 78th Min to get the Breakthrough, Mo Salah scoring. However VVD put into his own net in the 81st min. Leaving us needing a goal to pull us level. In the 90th minute King Mo smashed one in, the crowd went wild. But that wasn't the end of it. 90th + 6 mins up pops the King again to score his 3rd and send us through to the semi finals to face PSG. A 3-1 win away set us up nicely for the return at Anfield where an incredible VVD scored 4 in a 6-2 win to send us through.

The final see's us face off against all too familiar faces. Man City. A very tense game ended 1-1 at FT and no further goals in ET see's a penalty shootout where Alisson becomes the hero with 2 saves from City players giving us a 6-5 win. Champions for the 2nd year in a row.

Top Scorer this season was Nunez with 36 goals, Salah got 34 and VVD an Incredible 24.

Trent was highest assists on 24, Carvalho and Robbo on 15 each and Zaniolo on 14

Still not been able to sell Thiago who is now 33. Milner will retire at end of the season.

With regards to the rest of the squad VVD is 32, Hendo is 33, Salah and Ali are 31 and Fabinho 30. These will be the ones I look at finding replacements for soon enough. VVD and Ali are the ones I will find toughest to replace. VVD is such a rock and scores so many from corners for us. Ali has gotten most clean sheets 2 years running.

£194m sits in the transfer kitty. But no clue where I will strengthen the squad just yet. Not sure whether to go big on an already established international player to compliment Bellingham/Barella/Elliot or whether to go for potential.

Reserves wise. A lot of what we have in the reserves I'll most likely sell off as Don't see many of them getting close to first team. Especially since I had 2 gems in the Youth Candidates last season. Never paid much attention to them till now. Starting to look like 2 prospective first teamers/backups.

generally i will let thiago run his deal down. from the start as he has 2 years to run so i dont offer him anything new.

with those funds if you want to concentrate on slowly easing out some of the older guys you could start picking up the best regens around. let them have a season or 2 to improve

I accepted a bid from Napoli for him. £10m. He turned them down :herman:

Joe Gomez was unhappy at not getting much playing time. But with VVD, Konate and Zabarnyi ahead of him I decided to let him go - PSG for £40m and replaced him with Antonio Silva for £45m

Fabio Miretti was listed at Juventus for only £30m so was promptly snapped up, He'll go out on loan this season as he's been vastly underused at Juve and I need to get him games on a regular basis.

And have offered Milan £33m plus Thiago (Who they have a minor interest in) for Sandro Tonali

Thiago eventually leaves in a £8m move to Inter Milan, However we pay 60k per week till the end of the season. A small price to pay considering it shifted 165k off the wage bill and a small fee.

Josko Gvardiol is in talks for a £56m move. I don't really need him, Nor was he a target. I simply bid on him to spite Man Utd who had targeted him :D  However his versatility will come in handy, I am tempted to try and convert him into a HB as think he could excel at the base of the Mid. He's strong, Decent pace, passing, tackling, aggressive.. Ideal, If his versatility is high enough to do so.

love tonali but since his move to Milan its takes monster money to get him early enough in the game and i replace Fabinho after season 1. i'm playing the DM role bow as a BWM on defend and it suits Ugarte perfectly. plus Bajcetic can be moulded into anything in that DM role as well.

I haven't been on here for a while, but I've still been playing the original game I started and I've just finished my 6th season and intend to continue.  This is the furthest I have taken a game, I normally get bored after 4 seasons so but I'm still enjoying this game.

Main reason for this is due to a few of the youth intakes I had in my first few seasons, and the challenge of trying to bring these players through, which I've gradually been able to do.  I wouldn't say any are first choice starters still, but they are certainly contributing plenty now.  One of them just won me the Champions League final, coming off the bench to score 2 goals.  Youth intakes the last few years have been a little sparser but I can't complain!!

Original Liverpool players I still have are Alisson TAA Konate Bacjetic and Nunez ( I also have Gakpo who I got on a free after season 4)

Posted below a picture of my current squad, plus my 3 best regens who have come through from the youth team.

Just started my final 2023 save (which I plan to take with me into 24), and I've let the game run for a season to give Klopp his final run at the title. He only managed to finish 4th so the board thanked him for his years of excellent service and turned to me to bring about a new era for the club.

I've set myself a target of only buying English where a quality player exists in the position needed.

So far I've brought in:

Alex Scott for £12m

Ward-Prowse for £25m

Declan Rice for £75m

Skriniar for free

I'm about to sell Keita for £61m to Chelsea and I will.also accept bids for Thiago and Fabinho if they come in.

So I'm left with a core of English players: Trent, Milner, Hendo, Gomez, Elliot, Jones, Rice, Scott, Ward-Prowse and the Ox (who I renewed due to my English-only policy).

I will bring through Doak (to replace Salah when he retires), Ramsey and Bajectic from the U23s - 2 of those kids aren't English but I'm not being that strict with academy players.

I'm only in pre-season so far but Elliot in particular is impressing in an AMC role with a more creative license. And I expect Ward-Prowse's set piece expertise to add extra goals during the season.

As soon as I identify a quality English striker I'll be replacing Nunez.

Just set my scouts on him. 18 and from these Isles, that'll do for me.

That Koopmeiners is a machine as Carrillero (I can always use Henderson too, which I can also use as DLP).

I don't even know why I got that Arthur as loan from Juventus, but he is great (I usually use Thiago as AP).

I am using AI to do transfers and training, to make it more fun. Of course then I lost e.g. Keita as transfer, (good price) that I didn't need...but also lost Matip (that I needed). Now DCs are Just Phillips, VanD, Konate and Gomez (who I need to cover for TAA), so some transfer action needed after season.

I have too many midfielders and too few DC(BPD), to put it short. Ox and Milner will go, although Milner's versatility makes him good substitute.

Realised that FM23 is on Apple Arcade so I've managed to start a save, which I'm buzzing about :)

Keeping the team as it is, woeful transfer budget and I don't have many players (who aren't injured) which I can wheel and deal with. Anyway, top with 5 games played. Really enjoying a lot of this game.

Come Jan and I've just been given £65 million to spend

Looking at Fresneda for full back and Kalakoh or Gnonto as backup attacker to probably replace Jota.

Anyway, just reached Jan and us, City and Arsenal are all on same points roughly, all on target to hit just over 90 points. Gonna be close. Also qualified for Champions league knockouts top of a brutal group. Really enjoying it!

Only issue is, we seem to start off well but then absolutely implode after scoring some goals at the start of the game. Anybody change tactics in games to stop this (apart from the obvious of changing mentality!)

Love reading other about other peoples saves so thought I'd summarise 2.5 seasons just now

Season 1

Won the league, as you can see above. A lot of the good football didn't really kick in till later on in the season, particularly from some individuals. Nunez was my top league scorer with 19 league goals, Salah hit 40 g/a in all comps and Trent ended the season with 12 assists. No signings made, felt my squad was actually pretty strong! Got to the CL final and lost to Bayern, who I had beaten in the groups! Bit gutted but one better next season?

2B1E8BA0-9E2E-40CF-BD00-8D868294DACF.thumb.jpeg.af6a0bd66f1fc6eca14aceb2491df3f9.jpeg

Season 2

Started off the season by seeing an unhappy Musiala at Bayern so asked my DOF to sign him. £89M for one of, if not, the top talent in football? Yep. In my head, I'm thinking that he can rotate with Diaz (LW) and Elliot (MC Mez) so that adds good depth and allows me to get rid of some one (Ended up being Bobby). Bardghi also seemed a no brainer, not costly but had bags of potential. Anyway, wanted my young guns to play and not sit on the sidelines, so you'll see that I sent most of them out.

Domestically, I was running the show. Only got to the quarters of the CL this time, Bayern again put me out after we won the first leg 2-0, we got overturned 3-0 in the return leg despite having 2xg! Arsenal ended up winning this year, what a disaster!

Similar to real life, I organised my transfers early. Bellingham and Scalvini were signed in April to arrive in the summer which would massively upgrade my first team. Bellingham 4.5 starts, Scalvini 4 with potential for 5. I trusted my scouts knew what they were doing!

Season 3

Think I left my squad a bit light for the sake of arranging Naby's next move and Bajcetic' development. Naby moved on loan with a mandatory £45M fee, Bajcetic went on loan to Dortmund with the promise of being first team - Jackpot! Jones also went on loan as he needs to play.

Gakpo went for a really cool £57M deal and my only signing was transfer listed Fabian, who was happy to be a squad player on 100k. Perfect. Turns out my squad is light and he's playing all the time! Anyway, in December and we're joint top, still in CL and domestic cups. In the Jan window, I'll most likely recall Jones or Bajcetic to add a bit of weight to my squad.

I'm rotating between 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 right now, don't really do much else unless forced to with sending offs.

Also, here's another summary of the squad

Salah is just class and has won World player of the year. Him and VVD are keen on exploring options at the end of the season. Considering his form, I've offered Salah 400k on a 2 year deal - fingers crossed he stays or i'll need to find a replacement which will be expensive!

Scalvini and Bellingham fees were taken from season 3. I asked my DOF to sign them around April season 2 and they agreed, on the basis that anything beyond my already large budget was taken from the season after. My budget was like £150m anyway, if I remember correctly.

Season 4 update :

Salah left :( Went to Barca for free on 350k pw, so that's a huge hole to fill. Attempted to get Saka, Fati and Kvaratkhelia, but Barca and Napoli wouldn't sell and Bayern beat me to Saka. In the end, I took Moussa Diaby on a free from Leverkusen, who's rated 4* and plays on the right - Him and Doak are sharing the responsibility there. Also Signed a RB regen for £15m from Milan, so that's my RB covered for the next while, assuming he gets better.

Sold Tsimikas for £52m and Keita for £45 (as part of loan to buy from prev season) and a couple of other little sales so my finances are sitting quite nicely as it stands. I am in the market for a top class attacker though, I feel we're missing something. Rejected £130m offer from Madrid from Nunez and £55m for Gomez also.

Season has started very weirdly. Seem to be conceding the most stupid goals, where ricochets just land at opposition feet to score. I'm winning games on xG but winning few. That being said, i'm 5/5 wins in CL and joint top in the league, but I was 6th for a while! :D Nunez and Musiala getting injured frequently hasn't helped though. They're both absolute monsters, but seem to regularly get little injuries.

Nice updates @kopsy101.

Cheers mate!

Further season 4 update :

Really busy January window. Wasn't really planning too much, but I got some more reasonable offers for players so who am I to do nothing about it?

Firstly, an offer came in for just over £60m for Jota from Atletico, so I quickly secured a £125m deal for Endrick at Real Madrid. Jota is 29 so he's at that age where he can be sold for decent money and Endricks still a pup, so this one will work out in the end.

Secondly, I noticed that Kvaratkhelia no longer was listed as "Not for sale" on deadline day and Bayern and City were sniffing about. Apparently he was gonna be available for just under £100m. I quickly started trying to punt Diaz, who's 29 and valued at £89m for £75m but couldn't get a big in. Anyway, I opened bidding with Kvaratkhelia for £75m which was accepted. I signed him on £275k pw and then Napoli immedately tried to loan Carvalho with a mandatory buy of £55m. Negotiated to £60m, perfect! Also signed a fantastic spanish regen from Bilbao for his release clause of £20m who was then immediately loaned back - Happy with that, they have state of the art training facilities and he actually starts for them.

It means that this season, my outgoings are £220m and incomings (incuding Carvalho) will be £210m. However, where our new signings are earning about £700k pw between them, my outgoings were earning about £1.3m pw, so it's worked out nicely in that sense.

Silly goals conceded have stopped and we're flying again. Darwin just got player of the month for Jan having scored 10 in 4, he started 3 and was subbed off in the others :D

Also, I have been absolutely stumped by not being able to use all 5 subs in some games - I didn't realise they had to be spread across 3 stoppages. I thought there was a bug, but I learned something new. :) Took me 4 seasons to notice the /3 stoppages & /5 substitutions used during a game.

Season 4

Just to finish off what I started, season 4 was frustrating. Won the league, papped out the cups early, but took Bayern to ET in the CL final only to be beaten again. Bayern in the CL final. Again. :( They have a banging team, with Leao, Fati, Saka, Camavinga etc. Image04-08-2023at21.56(1).thumb.jpeg.b43ae01ec4f5becf86901ae1e833f117.jpeg

New signings did well, Diary exceeded expectations I think. Really hope the likes of Doak, Endrick and some of the regens can kick on next season.

Season 5

Did a lot of scouting this season and have purchased heavily on really good young players. Rice was a total last minute buy, but the extra depth and quality has been much appreciated and needed.

Image09-08-2023at15_46.thumb.jpeg.5ac9dcb0965045d2ee38b2024e734fa1.jpeg

I'm almost at the end of the season and I've won the Carabao. I'm probably not gonna win the league as City are 7 points ahead with 7 games to go. I'm in the CL semi's against City and I'm in the FA cup final against United. Squad currently looks like this.

Image09-08-2023at15.52(1).thumb.jpeg.bdf2dcaa24af737589e6ae5e48ad0283.jpegImage09-08-2023at15_52.thumb.jpeg.c795971ce5f23cc4e278fba987b9616d.jpeg

If I can get past City, it's PSG or Wolfsburg in the final. I'll chuck my laptop out the window if I don't win it this season.

Oh and Virgil is leaving at the end of the season. In good time too, he has really declined. I've got some decent CB regens but nothing beyond 3* apart from Konate, Gomez, Scalvini and Rice.

I'm actually thinking about getting rid of a good 5/6 numbers this summer and really using my youngsters next season. That means the likes of Nunez, VVD, Robbo, Fabian, Diary, Allison, Diaz all getting punted gracefully for good money. Not sure yet, nervous to do it.

Didn't win, goodbye expensive laptop. Beaten 8-7 on aggregate by City (belter of a tie), some of the goals I conceded were so weird.

Ended up coming 2nd in league, won the domestic cups and PSG won CL.

Onto the next season, big changes coming. Early outgoing is Jude Bellingham for an initial £155m, rising to £200m. Something like £80m upfront, £75m over 2 years then £25m if he plays 10 games, 9m if he wins german cup, £6m if he wins CL and something else. He gets 10% of the fee though as per his contract, so maximum of £180m to me. I think he's brilliant, but his numbers weren't fantastic.

Interesting that you played Gomez as DL, for me, he is exclusively sub for TAA as DR/WB(R)

Well I was going a period where Tsimikas had gone for good money and my regen backup wasn't good enough yet so he covered all 4 of the defender positions. :) However, now my fullback options are all better than him so he's leaving at the end of season 6 on a free.

I'll post my regens coming through once season 6 is over, unfortunately they have similar surnames (Martins/Martin) which is an annoyance.

Funnily, having got rid of Diaz for £50m and Bellingham for £200m and only signed 3 regens for £18m combined, all of which have been papped out on loan, i'm having a decent season - Probably better than the last! 1st in the league, League cup winners, FA cup semi and CL quarters so far. I'm looking for a modest quadruple this year. :)

Season 6

Yeah, another season, another CL failure. 2nd in the league to Arsenal due to an awful patch, and won both domestic trophies. Darwin was bloody excellent, but he kept getting niggles meaning he would miss big games and I think that contributed to the league failure. He still ended up with 24 league goals though.

Image17-08-2023at12_11.thumb.jpeg.f345cc04f281ac2ff5702c49b6ca4b2a.jpegOn the new season and transfer wise - Nothing much to report other than Diaby left for an £41Mil, which was a good return on a free transfer. Celleher left on a free after a number of years good service as our number 2.

Image21-08-2023at09_10.thumb.jpeg.8a489e11c64226bd32c28d4ac1846ce7.jpeg

On the other hand, I've promoted couple of regens. Martins at LB and Rousselle (who was signed for £55mil a couple of seasons back) into the first team fold, to phase out some of the older players. Alexandre is going to replace Gomez, who leaves on a free, as backup CB. Beyond that, Rice and Bajcetic are CB cover. I've also got a backup keeper with 5* potential so he'll play the easy CL games and all cup games.

Onto Season 7

I'm in Jan right now and I'm well clear in the lead. This season has been a dawdle so far, but I'm nowhere near the business end so irrelevant so far. Below is my current squad.

Image21-08-2023at09_19.thumb.jpeg.902505d7a1ed4a93323d54eab184eb25.jpeg

Very sad that Darwin is now 29, but he's a club legend now. Endrick is well primed to eventually take over, particularly as he's now one of my few 5* players. Rousselle went from backup this season to cemented started. He's absolutely brilliant and will definitely only get better, according to my coach reports.Image21-08-2023at09_21.thumb.jpeg.4019e9b63adc3beabf3e2f3e1834569a.jpeg

another one who's on the verge of first choice is my CB Alexandre who's come on leaps and bounds this year. Konate is leaving on a free end of season anyway, as he wanted 400k a week. No thanks pal, you're 30 in 4 months. Anyway, a few ball skills to work on and plenty of development room to do so.

Thanks pal, i'm glad you enjoy them as I enjoy writing them. :)

Season 7 Update :

Hitting the business end of the season and all is going rather smoothly, apart from being chucked out the League cup semi's by United. Darwin is on 45 goals in March, Endrick is on 30 odd and Musiala, Kvara, Elliot have really good numbers too so my big boys are flying. we're also on course to hit 101 points this season with 6 games to go, assuming we win them all. We're about 12 points ahead of our closest competitors, so the league is pretty much in the bag. :)

I'm into the CL semi's with PSG in my way this year. They've obviously still got Mbappe, who else can afford his wages? But it looks like they've also recruited sensibly as they've got a brilliant team so this is a big one. After that, it's Real or City in the final, if I can overcome PSG.

I've recalled 2 CM's for squad depth, both of which i'll post below when i'm on my laptop. This may be an area where i've gone wrong in the past as I like a relatively small squad where everybody plays. Naturally though, injuries play a part and that has made it difficult in the past seasons. Ironically, this year I've got no injuries at this point - Probably to do with the fact I'm able to rotate more?

Quick update, as i'm fuming right now. :D Won the league on 96 points, resting players after we'd won meant we dropped points after that. Won the FA cup final vs Spurs easily which meant getting my best players rested for the 2nd half so they're fresh for the CL final vs Real Madrid.

Notification in my inbox. Endrick has broken his ribs in training and Nunez has an ankle injury. Both out for 4/5 weeks :D

havent had time or the inclination to get going on a save recently. might wait for the window to shut and start one from an updated DB. always find it easier to play when the season is going

if we finish the window as we are what what are we all doing first in FM24? CB or a DM

It was an interesting one, I have a regen called Nunes but I wasn't convinced he was ready. I ended up taking Musiala away from CM (Mez) and sticking him upfront. Another regen called Rousselle (who's above somewhere) played in CM (Mez).

Good news though...

image.thumb.jpeg.c7de563d3119c8e2ebf755be4df1c9ac.jpeg

Whoop whoop! Got lucky, actually. Goal came the two unlikely source in regards to Bajcetic and Rice :D Played rubbish but finally got a CL win so over the moon with that. :) Took me 7 years to win it, but in the meantime, I cleared up most of the domestic trophies...Am I Pep?

In the new season, I've won the super cup and charity shield. Going for as many trophies as possible this year.

Budget permitting, both :D

If I had to choose, I'd probably prioritise a CB right now

Cheers mate

He's still reasonable IMO. Unfortunately my other LB was injured for the final, so Robbo had to play. Here he is 3 months later though, he's lost even more physical stats since that final.

End of summer 29 window update :

image.thumb.jpeg.a352cae96b7857252d75fd5ca7527a41.jpegA lot of loan outs and not enough selling really. Got a bloated squad so now I've got a wage bill of 6.1m which is far too much. I'm actually gonna look to do something with Doak in the winter as his 10% wage rises mean that he's getting £325k pw which is mental.

Brought in a striker for £44Mil with plenty of potential and who can cover/rotate with Darwin, Elliot, Doak and Endrick with regards to ST and RW.

his stats are still very strong for a 35yo. obv mentals stay pretty high but his technicals and physicals are good for a back up anyway.

Season 29/30

Great start. Worst season, ever.

Won the Super Cup and Community Shield without breaking a sweat, then proceeded to having the worst season in the history of FM. 14th after 9 games, 6th after 36 games and CL is out of reach

Reached the CL semi's where I got beaten on pens by league leaders City, who'll go on to face United in the final. Talk about a s*** show.

Out both the domestic cups too.

It really has been an awful season, not because i'm creating much less but the finishing has been just woeful this season. Darwin is either not fit or missing any 1v1 he can get close to, Endrick broke his collarbone and has been generally worse anyway. I'll need to have a think in the summer because it's not working right now. I went on a massive run of form getting up to 3rd place before collapsing again in the last few games. Not that xG would show that, but the actual scores show otherwise. Perhaps my regen keeper isn't the one, but he's 3.5* so he's good. Screenshots to follow, unfortunately. I'm gonna play a game against Sheffield just now, who are 20th. the game is titled "El Sackico" which is lovely :D
