You the manager are only responsible for training and tactics and picking the team; the DoF is responsible for transfers and contracts. Head off to the Challenges forum for some threads, https://community.sigames.com/forums/forum/29-challenges-sign-ups-experiments/ and check out YouTube videos for examples. Here's one I'm following every day: New Head Coach Challenge He's up to ch. 11 today. You can watch whole season campaigns if you go to his playlist. To address rrreee3's question, my last save with a lower league file had me managing my childhood village, an amateur side, with next-to-no-staff. I set the chairman to do the job of the DoF and everyone higher than me, so by using the staff responsibility screen, you can set your chairman to be in charge. In the Challenges forum you'll find the Academy Challenge. That's where you can't bring in any players ever - no transfers, no loans, no free agents. You can only replenish your squad from your academy intake. If you start at the bottom with facilities and training quality the worst, it becomes pretty tricky.
