Suggestions to get players familiar with role?

I'm using two tactics and have several new midfield players who are not very familiar with their roles. One tactic has CM, BWM, MEZ  the other CM, BBM. Should I play one tactic until they get familiar or alternate between the tactics as needed?

Playing them in their roles is the best way. Sticking with one tactic should be quicker, but if they play the same role in the 2 tactics it should still be okay.

But bear in mind players have a hidden "versatility" attribute which affect how fast and how well they can adapt to a different role.
