(I'll amend my original post) Not worth comparing anyway to be honest, the amount of games is entirely different. What I wanted this year was 2 standard benchmarks and then 2 identical ones but with higher detail Edited December 6, 2022 by Brother Ben

Powermonger
Tests 3 & 4 have the biggest discrepancies between runs I’ve noticed during testing, from 30s to a couple of mins, especially for test 4. I seemed to have gotten best results with a fresh start of FM between tests as opposed to reloading a save between tests. Maybe coincidence due to small sampling size on my part as I ran each test multiple times.

No point buying a new CPU and finding you also need a new Motherboard too. Should be no issues with the CPU swap there then and a decent jump in processing power. You might not get full benefits from the new CPU though as B450 might limit some parts. But the more expert PC people would be able to confirm or deny that. As others have mentioned, its drop in but definitely make sure you have updated your BIOS. Easier to do on the current CPU unless you have BIOS FlashBack function on the board. The newest BIOS MSI have available for your board will be sure to support the 5900X. Upgrading your board would offer some advantages. Better VRMs, PCIe improvements, more NVMe slots, probably more USB connections. You would be making full use of the graphics card you have because the board only has PCIe generation 3 and a 6700XT uses PCIe generation 4. Is that worth the cost and effort of a B550 board and the swap? No absolute answer on that, but like Bigpole says, the CPU alone will offer significant performance gains. One other factor to consider... the 5900X is a 142 watt CPU, which will run hotter than what you have. Make sure you have decent CPU cooling.

Yes, standard cooler is enough for 'normal' gaming and standard use of the computer. Any CPU-heavy games and programs will require better cooling (anything from arctic freezer 34 esports and above is good).
