themodelcitizen
MLS goes retro! This db renames MLS competitions and many of the teams, with kits and colours copied over from their old NASL counterparts. I love these old trademarks and wish MLS had leaned into them more heavily! Step 1) DOWNLOAD / backup Step 2) GRAPHICS Step 3) Go to preferences/overview/change game language to "English (US)" for full effect Step 4) Upvote here and rate on Steam if you're enjoying the database There's no functional change to gameplay, so no advanced rules or additions. Purely aesthetic changes for now - I'd love to edit the US nation rules to include 4-team divisions, but there's so much hard-coded MLS/CONCACAF stuff that it seems like a bad idea. If you do want to play with old NASL rules and the 70s-era Cosmos, check out the NASL 1978 40th Anniversary database for FM19. themodelcitizen
I assume you're the reason the old NASL franchises had so many details already filled out in the editor, lol, thought it was time to bring them to life! Nice to have the Cosmos and the Aztecs facing off
SI Staff Al Clark Posted March 2, 2023 SI Staff Share Posted March 2, 2023 I did some of the history and Tristan did some IIRC. I've still not had a go at it yet....I REALLY need to make more time to actually play FM. I managed 5 seasons in SUI this year so far...that's it. themodelcitizen
Lol, I'm not sure I've even made it to a league game in FM23 yet, always get sidetracked with editing projects. I accepted a few versions ago that I enjoy the editor more than the game itself and have come to terms with it, even if a lot of the fun is the promise of using the DB in a new game. I think I've finished most of my editing projects for the year though, so will start playing in earnest soon... I usually wait until the last update for North American play anyway (i.e. fix the damn Gold Cup, SI) but might focus on Europe and the Gulf this year
