G_D_K
Well...FM 24 is released (EA). I'm going to import the save to FM24 (which was quick, took < 2 minutes). Going to use the EA period to see how well the import has taken, and continue it with release if no major bugs have cropped up...otherwise I'll reimport the FM23 save once any major problems are taken care of. I just finished the 2042/43 season in FM22 with VSM, capturing our first Serie A title in team history. Our 3rd foray into the ECL saw us reach the QFs, where a 2-1 home win was erased by a 3-1 away loss to Tottenham. Still, it was an achievement to get past the first knockout round ever; one I hope to improve on next season. jerzy59
Haven't been updating in a while as nothing of significance was happening. This just happened, it's a good one. These are the two best U23, they're already in the A team also.
foolsgold
Blimey @jerzy59. I've no idea what I'm doing wrong, but I'm 40 odd years in now, with perfect youth facilities and great coaches, etc at 2 clubs now (Tre Penne and Tre Fiori), and haven't had any players anywhere near that standard. Really frustrating on my side but great work on yours.

Really frustrating on my side but great work on yours. Right now I have 3 teams with perfect facilities in the San Marino league + Victor in Serie A. Inter also has produced a really good youngster for San Marino recently. I have noticed that every time a club performs well in Europe, their next youth intake has at least a very good youngster. In any case, with those 4 clubs there's pretty much one very promising player coming up every year.
G_D_K
I'm in 2043 (finished 2042 then imported to FM24 --- without any real problems I might add). My last youth intake contained this gem: We're now half-way though his first season, he's already playing for the senior national team, and is doing well in limited appearances on the senior VSM team as well. G_D_K
Meanwhile, the National team continues to show improvement, with two huge draws (vs Wales and Serbia, ranked 35th and 44th respectively). The 8 points in the tournament is the most by the National team in any major competition. Still need a bit of a bump, but I am betting that by this time in 4 years (next Euro qual's) we will actually be competitive and possibly qualify for the main tournament. The tournament sees us move up 8 spots to 137th in the world rankings. I'm also seeing a few Samarinese players starting to appear in leagues around europe, including this youngster who appeared in Linfield this past season: At this time, a total of 18 players in the national pool are playing for teams in the top division of the nation they are currently playing in: 13 in Serie A (11 for VSM, 1 Capitoline, 1 Lazio), 1 Slovak, 1 Slovenian, 1 Turkish, 1 French. Sadly, other than Biordi above, all of these players are from the San Marino League or from VSM ourselves. Still, seeing a newgen with potential pop up in Northern Ireland gives me hope that our reputation is spreading, and gives me hope to find other SM gems hiding out in the world at large. jerzy59
They have done it ... It comes as a bit of a surprise, my personal goal was to reach the 1/4 finals for the first time ever and preparing for what I believed could be a potential victory in the next WC with a golden generation coming in. But anyway, I enjoyed a fairly "easy" run until the 1/4 finals, I had the opportunity to put a good rotation in place and so my best players were all fresh for the last 3 games, which may have made a difference. I've always felt that some weird things happen sometimes in big Tournaments. I didn't just win those games, I dominated the xG/shots game. Here's the stats for the semi against England for instance: To be clear, one of my DCs scored 5 goals in the playoff stage and yes, I do (ab)use a Corner formation that allows him to score quite a lot. Here are the key players of the team: Next to them I have an interesting supporting cast. A group of maybe 12 players, roughly at the same level that are a bit interchangeable. This allows the team to stay roughly at the same level when I go into rotation mode. They're not world beaters by any means but are capable to hold the fort when required. For me the key point to doing this challenge is to go to Victor at some point, win a few Serie A, a few Champion's leagues, because they will absolutely produce incredible players for you. In my 26 players squad for this WC, 19 of them were produced by Victor. Half of those players being produced during my time over there when I was winning everything. Doing this challenge without improving Victor's status seems next to impossible to me when I see all the players they've given me. Even many, many seasons after I left, they still produce future superstars such as this guy: With the San Marinese teams, I have occasionally produced great players (Di Vincenzo, for instance), but not consistently. I have also struggled during the whole game to have 2 San Marinese clubs capable of producing world class players simultaneously. Even if it is possible to produce those great players, it's a lot more unreliable than what Victor can do. In any case, to me it looks like there is a direct correlation between the results of a club in European Competition, and the level of players this club produces. The year after a European win, I always had at least one superb player generated at my club. So with this, this is the end of this challenge for me. I'll keep managing the San Marino national team for a bit, but I'm going to stop focusing on them. I've never won the Nation's League, never been world #1, but that's ok. Good luck to everyone. Haddock
In my save Victor has now established itself as a top club in Serie A, but somehow I can’t upgrade my youth facilities all the way (currently at level 18). Training facilities, youth coaching and recruitment is maxed out (level 20) but I can’t even ask the board to improve youth facilities any more. Anyone else having this issue in FM23? G_D_K
23rd season for Victor San Marino now in the books. Finished second in the league --- after losing my starting keeper with 4 to play (including the IC final). Had to call in my 15yo academy graduate to finish the season, but it was a rough final 3 matches. He did well enough, but it was a lot to ask him to have to win all three matches, let alone facing Inter twice as well as Lazio (lost both league matches 2-0, but he picked up the win vs Inter in the Italian Cup final) In addition to the Italian Cup (our 2nd in VSM history), we also picked up the Italian Super Cup trophy for the first time, and can look forward to trying to keep it in San Marino in the 44/45 season. As for the ECL, did not progress quite as far in this year's edition. A pretty huge mistake saw me leave 3 starters off the squad registration sheet when it came time to register the first phase, so even a fairly favorable schedule saw us falter, and we only qualified for the knockout playoff stage. A 2-1 away win vs Milan gave us hope, but a wild home leg saw us drop a 4-3 loss (3-2 in regulation, one goal each in extra time), which would take us to penalties. And....we did poor. Both teams leading strikers led off the shootout; both strikers had their penalties well saved. Sadly, while both teams' #2 kickers scored, our 3rd kicker was also saved, and our 4th kicker hit the upright, taking us out before the round of 16. Next year, maybe. No boneheaded mistakes (the mistake was due to having players "unavailable" filter out during the registration process, and I completely missed that fact). and maybe we'll qualify outright for the round of 16 next season. Overall, Victor San Marino has moved up to 18th in European club reputation (and in coefficients as well). Our stadium turns 10 years old this fall; here's hoping we can now look at a new one, as we've sold out every season since it was built (barring, perhaps, the first, where we might have only been 90-95%) Spoiler League position won drawn lost GF GA Points Playoffs Cup run Continental 2021/22 Eccellenza C 2 11 10 3 25 15 43 ----- -------- 2022/23 Eccellenze B 1 21 9 8 51 35 72 ----- ------- 2023/24 Serie D/D 10 11 8 15 56 45 51 ----- -------- 2024/25 Serie D/D 9 34 11 12 52 44 45 ----- ------ 2025/26 Serie D/D 1 22 8 4 56 28 74 ----- ------- 2026/27 Serie C/B 15 8 14 16 35 53 38 ----- Serie C Cup1st round (Lost in ET) 2027/28 Serie C/B 10 13 12 13 53 59 51 3rd round (Lost to Juv U23s 4-2 agg) Serie C Cup 1st round 2028/29 Serie C/B 9 14 13 11 49 39 55 3rd round (Lost to Catania 4-1agg Serie C Cup 2nd Round 2029/30 Serie C/B 2 24 8 6 58 29 80 WINNERS Serie C Cup 1st Round (Lost in ET) 2030/31 Serie B 7 17 7 14 53 49 58 1st round (lost 5-3 to Frosinone) Italian Cup 3rd Round (lost 0-2 to Capitoline) 2031/32 Serie B 14 11 12 15 40 46 45 ----- Italian Cup 3nd round (lost 1-0 to Atalanta) 2032/33 Serie B 6 17 11 9 57 49 62 SF (lost via seeding after 4-4 agg draw) Italian Cup 1st round (lost 3-2 vs Ascoli) 2033/34 Serie B 6 18 9 11 61 50 63 Won (Final 1-0 agg vs Palermo) Italian Cup 3rd round (lost 2-1 vs Atalanta) 2034/35 Serie A 9 14 10 14 38 57 52 ----- Italian Cup 2nd round (lost 4-1 to Verona) 2035/36 Serie A 9 15 10 13 51 51 55 ----- Italian Cup 3rd round (Lost to Parthenope 5-3) 2036/37 Serie A 6 18 12 8 75 59 66 ----- Italian Cup 2nd round (Lost to Sassuolo 4-3) 2037/38 Serie A 5 20 9 9 67 48 69 ----- Italian Cup Quarter Final (Lost to Atalanta 3-2) Europa League Semi-Final (Lost to OM on penalties after 2-2 draw) 2038/39 Serie A 3 22 10 6 73 39 76 ----- Italian Cup Quarter Final (Lost to Juventus 3-2) Europa League Quarter Final (Lost to Fiorentina on penalties after 2-2 draw) 2039/40 Serie A 2 25 9 4 86 48 84 ----- Italian Cup Semi-Final (Lost to Parthenope 3-0) ECL League Phase (finished phase 29th) 2040/41 Serie A 5 22 6 10 67 38 72 ----- Won Italian Cup (Beat Inter on Penalties after 0-0 draw) ECL Knockout Playoff round (Lost 4-3 to Manchester United) 2041/42 Serie A 3 21 10 7 64 40 73 ----- Italian Cup Quarter Final (Lost 1-0 to Juventus) / Italian Super Cup to Inter 2-1 Europa League Semi-Final (Lost 3-2 to Chelsea) 2042/43 Serie A 1 26 7 5 84 29 85 ----- Italian Cup 3rd round (Lost to Sassuolo 1-0) ECL Quarter-final (Lost 4-3 to Tottenham) 2043/44 Serie A 2 24 6 8 94 54 78 ----- Italian Cup Winner (vs Inter 2-1)// Super Cup winner (vs Parthenope 3-2) Lost in knockout playoff round to Milan on penalties after 5-5 aggregate draw Edited November 10, 2023 by G_D_K
G_D_K
Our biggest result yet with the national team: Serbia ranked 49th going into this matchup: We basically played defensively, soaked up the pressure, until the 87th minute, where I pressed for the draw. It worked! We followed this Euro Div B match by taking a 2-0 lead against 42nd ranked Czech Republic; however, we were unable to maintain the lead and were handed a 4-2 loss by the end of the day. Still, we are certainly seeing signs of improvements in the national team.

Brizza
The downloads I've looked at on Steam either seemed to have bugs, or were slightly more fantasy set ups with tweaks to the overall league set up. Is there a reliable, faithful download that just adds the necessary extra leagues to the main Italian system?
MaxeyN17
I've not found a db yet that creates the SM league accurately. I looked into doing it myself but I'm useless with the editor and the league is quite complicated when it comes to the play-offs. Hopefully a proper db comes out soon as I'm really wanting to start this on FM24!
G_D_K
One option (if you have FM23) is to download one of the FM23 leagues and immediately convert it to FM24. My 20-season save converted over seamlessly, and only took a couple minutes. I've not looked at the FM24 leagues yet, as I'm too involved in my FM23 carryover; and I've not looked at the editor at all (although I might have a look over the holidays and see if I can recreate it properly).

jerzy59
Oops, I did it again. An easy straightforward run to the final that allowed me to put good rotation and keep my best players fresh throughout the whole competition. B team played South Korea, then all of the games were decided at half time during the whole playoffs until the final. The team was carried by this player who scored 11 goals in the competition. The team now has 14 straight victories in the World Cup, which is a record. I thought this would be my last WC but I might push for the next one, see what happens. A new generation is coming in, probably a bit better than the generation that is now retiring.

An easy straightforward run to the final that allowed me to put good rotation and keep my best players fresh throughout the whole competition. Are you now at a stage where players with dual citizenship chooses San Marino over Italy? Some players yes, but not the best. Usually when they reach 24-25yo and still don't have an international game with Italy, they sometimes come and play for San Marino instead. But they're not exactly starting 11 players anyway. The only one that made a difference was Marco Tisseli (his player profile is on a post above on this page). I've had a weird issue with 2 naturalised players though. San Marino does not produce a lot of good keepers, but I managed to get 2 naturalised after 12 years playing in the league. They accepted to represent the country and I took them for the World Cup. I didn't give them any game time but technically they are World Champions. Anyway, after the competition they refused to come back in the national team and they are now considered Italians again. A while back I also had the issue of a young player who decided to switch nationalities even though he had a few appearances with the San Marino team. He came back a few years later though. kdavva74
Anyone else keen to try this on FM24 now that San Marino Academy are in the Sammarinese Calcio? They've got an U22 squad in that division, and then youth squads in the Italian youth system. Best facilities in the country as well.
G_D_K
Major milestone hit as the San Marino National Team knocks off Hungary, 2-0, in World Cup Qualifying. The win gives San Marino their highest ever finish in World Cup qualifying, although they are still well short of competing in their first major tournament. The win, and tournament overall, moves the Samarinese national team up to 131st in world rankings (up 5 from the start of the match, up 8 from the start of the tournament), while Hungary dropped 4 spots to 66th. edit: Sad day for the Sammarinese national team: The Ball winning midfielder was our 2nd to reach 100 caps. marco90li
Hi everyone I'm gonna start a new save I have 2 ideas; 1 start a new one with Juvenes like i did on fm23 or 2 start with the San Marino Academy team with only San Marino players U21 Both teams have the mindset of signing young players Edited December 16, 2023 by marco90li
Swaban
I'd go for Juvenes, but thats because i prefer to build up a smaller league, rather than compete in an already top 5 league (once you get promoted to Serie A)

Scraborn
Does Lurons database come with the right setup for the end of season play-offs? G_D_K
As hoped, we moved straight back to European International Division B. Came down to last match, where we battled Armenia for a 1-0 win. A loss would have handed the title to Armenia. 4 wins and 2 draws (against one lower ranked, 2 higher ranked teams) sees us move up to 122nd in the world rankings. Scraborn
Something is still odd in Lurons database - I finished Season 1 and won the league... In Season 2 I have my very first european match in the First Qualification Round of the Champions League so I miss the 4 teams play off on a neutral field in the beginning and 200k - is there a fix or is it just the new CL format? I downloaded a Database that leaves the original UCL format, I didn't like the new format.
