Season 3

League

beat Oxford 1-0 in the final - considering we new to this tier we spent entire season in good form and in and around playoff places

We had a poor time within the cup games

Squad wise record signing for 155k Tshimanga was key to our good season, but also our core defensiv unit

Finances wise we made a lose of 2m, but we did upgrade our training facilities to good - we ended season on 1.4m and next season we allowed to spend 1.2m

Just started a save as Hemel Hempstead in the Vanarama NLS. First time managing a team this far down, anyone have any tips for me? Looks like everyone is on Part time contracts here until next year so I can't really release anyone yet. I moved some of my scouting budget over to my Wage budget and have about £1200 a week to spend on wages. Managed to pick up a few free agents but nobody outstanding.

Should I be going for some old heads? Some decent looking 34+ lads floating about, they just dont have the pace anymore, does it matter in this league? I am offering almost anyone with two legs a trials and going from there currently

I have a database change which basically makes Brexit non existent so European players shouldn't be a problem to get.

Rochdale A.F.C. - Wikipedia

Rejuvenating Rochdale

Rochdale currently find themselves at the bottom of League Two. Their rivals Bury are my hometown club and given that I can no longer manage them, I thought why not refresh the dwindling Dale.

Objective

- Win every cup competition available to me at least once throughout the duration of the save.

- Rely on youth to charge up the divisions.

Brightest Prospect - Ethan Brierley

image.png.72a6aef8e0cd13fcf3a3cfb33e49dbb7.png

Ethan has the potential to play at a high Championship to lowly Premier League level, I am hoping for a quick trajectory up the divisions in order for him to fulfill his potential quickly. I don't have any intention to sell him early on but we will see.

Young Starlet Acquired - Princewill Ehibhatiomhan

image.png.f49e135c174a95073a3de1213bb3b850.png

For ease, I will nickname him 'Prince' going forward but my scouts drew attention to him and I thought he was worth a punt. He lacks massively in balance, dribbling and off the ball, so he will be a work in progress but I am hoping to give him substantial game-time in rotation with my new striking duo...

A New Number 9 - Jahmal Hector-Ingram

image.png.7d5670eaec672fde68211396073b26d9.png

After a trial spell, it quickly became apparently that this guy was a must have. I'm hoping he'll still be up to scratch even by the time we hit the Championship - all going well.

A Meaty Man - Glen Taylor

image.png.73bfcd4e6838e9c26c93223c64c05144.png

Tall, good in the air and can bag a penalty, Taylor will be excellent in League Two. Hector-Ingram and Taylor will be excellent influences on Prince, given the pair are both professional individuals. Sadly, Ian Henderson has a 6 to 8 month lay-off so his professionalism will be a miss in impacting those around him.

Managed to win the VNL with 5 games to play in my second season in this league, missed out on Playoffs by 2 points last season,  Thiema Gueye (free from Lyon) and a loan winger from my Affiliate club Millwall pretty much dragged us there. The club is going Professional in June, looking forward to battling the bigger teams in League 2 :brock:

Not a full update but...

image.png.616166056b8c3a415636df3fa5d63c3e.png

This guy is saucy for a first year intake player from League Two! Makes it even sweeter that he's from an obscure nation.

image.png.945ecbeb37ad81b2610481ac0697383b.png

This guy is going from strength to strength! He doesn't perform incredibly well as of yet but averaged a 6.8 over the course of his first senior season as a player in League 1. We are in the Championship now and he is tied down until 2033 due to additional optional extensions...

We won League 2 comfortably (Glen Taylor carried hard with his aerial ability) and then made some shrewd business with free transfers to prepare us for League 1: Conor Masterson, Paul Kalambayi, Luke Matheson, Paul Glatzel, Yannik Luhrs, George Williams, Daniel Batty and Jonathan Leko. We also formed a partnership with Man City who gave us Tomas Galvez, Oscar Bobb and Mikki van Sas on loan without any wage contributions from us. The board were relatively generous with the transfer money they awarded to us based on some okay cup runs the season prior - we signed Jovan Milosevic (£250k up-front, £450k over 3 years and £300k after 50 league appearances) as a long-term successor to the ever-present Glen Taylor. Taylor has since departed for pastures new as I felt his wage demands were a bit astronomical given his limited qualities for a Championship season.

image.png.ce1fbcd4f243e9e29d06939c484234dd.png

Himself and Hector-Ingram proved to be absolute heroes and the pair shot us up to the Championship in some style.

image.png.99bbd2531bd49842de1aedc19bee1aab.png

Quite frankly we run amok on the competition, Leko and Glatzel alternating on the wings with those two firing up-top was lethal.

image.png.a47425cbc9657d07cdc989b8e242b552.png

Not a bad valuation for a free transfer at the start of the current database. He'll either lead us to the Premier League eventually or move on for a big fee - his trajectory is giving me Ivan Toney vibes currently.

WeAreBromley

In the season we just played we had a takeover and got floated on the stock market which generated 2m extra in our balance!

We started of very well and never once dropped out of the playoffs much to my suprise. - we had no out n out striker in the playoff stage due to injuries, and Tshimanga laving for TP Mazembpe before season ended.

e4fa51889c3d9605431cf827cd2d0e69.png

we beat Brighton 1-0 over 2 legs and beat Stoke 1-0

We were knocked out bt Southampton in FA Cup third round and by Fleetwood in the league cup in the second round

This side although grinded out alot of draws and narrow wins this season, we have 23m to spend in the summer- if we really want a chance to succeed or even get relegated and coe back up we might need a bit of strengthening

Sunderland AFC

Season 1 review

So I started a new save with my beloved Sunderland after the winter update and I had a decent first season back in the Championship but at one point it promised so much more than a 9th placed finish, as at one point I was flying up in 3rd at one point in the season before a mid season slump which saw me fall down to 9th, we rallied a little bit towards the back end of the season to climb to 5th but a terrible end to the season including defeats to Norwich, Sheff Utd, Luton, Huddersfield, Watford and a final day humiliation away at Preston saw me finish in 9th which is where I was expected to finish in the season preview.

League table

Past positions

Transfers

I didnt have much money to spend so I only brought one player in and that was striker Rey Menaj on a free transfer, he had a decent season and scored 18 in 26 appearances in the league. A few youngsters were let go on loan and Lynden Gooch was sold at the end of the season as he wanted to go. I got decent money for him though to fund the following seasons play off push. Our goalkeeper Anthony Patterson is also on the verge of leaving as he was pretty poor for me and I think I can sign better, he is in talks with Atletico Madrid and is leaving for 9 million.20230314180820_1.thumb.jpg.0c349cf41b58c3e4df640cfa39145d6a.jpg

Squad at season end

As you can see we only had 4 players who broke the 7.0 average rating and 2 of those were on loan so it was a very average season and a lot of work is needed to improve on our 9th place finish.

20230314173214_1.thumb.jpg.dab361bf93e09aeae85a50c753ea802f.jpg

Results

Apart from a good run from the back end of September and into October we never really put another good run together, winning a couple then going on a bad run. Very inconsistent so this is another thing that needs improvement. The 6-1 defeat to Preston on the final day summed our season up. We still had a chance to sneak into the play offs but we were relying on Watford and West Brom to both lose and us to win but we just collapsed against a Preston side who had to win to stay up.

Going into season 2 with a £15 million transfer budget so plenty of money to strengthen.

Started a new save last week

Season 1 - Finished 2nd with Wrexham (National League) lost the play-offs to Chesterfield - lost Mullin and Palmer for 3 month each from September which left me 16pts behind by December.

Season 2 - coasted with Wrexham and 10pts clear by January, Bristol Rovers (Bottom of League 1) came calling and i jumped, stayed up with 50pts on the final day

Season 3 - Got Bristol Rovers to 7th with 76pts, lost the last two matches and was gutted to miss the play-offs - saw Birmingham City drop to League 2 with only 22pts and in financial ruin.

Season 4 - Applied and got the Birmingham City job in league 2, what a challenge, no money in financial ruin - wages limited to £14k p/w and the only senior player left was Chong (who i couldn't sell) on £12k p/w.  Head against a brick wall time, with a team of mainly 17/18 youth players had some heavy defeats at Walsall, Mansfield and a 6-1 thrashing at home by Hartlepool.  Things are turning though, had 3 wins in a row - younger players improving and just managed to get 4 senior players to agree £350 p/w contracts (Lankester, Hollis, Savage and Delaney)

I had a fun Blackburn youth academy only save but I felt like it ran it course after 3 seasons with them.

I was looking at other teams to start a youth academy only save in the EFL and this is the team I settled on.

The formidible Ashton Gate stadium that can hold up to 27,000 fans.

There are 2 players on who I want to build my team around but I will find it difficult to keep.

Alex Scott and Zack Ali

image.thumb.png.2287f636b3de4077d853ecdbd81ce7bd.png

Alex Scott is only 19 years old but highly touted and a lot of Prem teams are after him in real life.

Zack Ali is someone I come across is a previous FM save and he is looks like a wonderkid in the making.

Both of these players should make Bristol City a lot of money if I can keep them for a few seasons.

image.thumb.png.638d512dc0c82aef6943103f2709bbc5.png

Bristol City have Excellent Training and Youth Facilities which will help with producing great youth regens.

I just need improve junior coaching and youth recruitment.

image.thumb.png.bade09ca5f7aed7cfb0d0630b6b98e5b.png

This is the best line up according to the preview.

image.thumb.png.962a1d515da3fe98d6f0534cd6699f34.png

The club expectations are a top half finish, develop players through the youth system which is ideal for my philosphy.

The only downside is the club wants me to sign players to sell for profit which I will not be doing.

image.thumb.png.41074053ce3a4ef4ff9bb0653f618d1d.png

The fans just want me to remain in the Championship and get a higher reputation then Cardiff. Oh and also beat the scum that is Bristol Rovers if we ever come across them in the cups.

I will do a season review when I finish the first season at Bristol City.

22nd January in season one and I have already looking likely to lose Alex Scott who was the main reason I wanted to manage Bristol City in the first place.

I tried to protect the transfer but the board weren't having it.

Gutted.

image.thumb.png.1bc04410fcf335e79175131ff98d77a1.png

It is a good deal for the club but I feel like another season with us we would of got a lot more for him:(

A great first season with a 1-0 win in the Play Off finals vs Middlesborough.

image.thumb.png.95b4deb1b57650761041d214206a6ccf.png

We got knocked out of the Carabao cup in the 1st round to Cardiff but we done better in the FA cup with us getting to the 5th round and took Man City to the limit with them having to beat us 5-4 on penalties to get through.

Best Players

Tommy Conway

image.thumb.png.f310d13b86796df859832ab44b36896d.png

Newly capped Scotland international Tommy Conway done very well for us with 19 goals for the season.

Mark Sykes

image.thumb.png.7516de7978274b34e911b538b62c6013.png

Sykes was brilliant for us. He was our best player of the season with 9 goals and 13 assists and the best average rating for the club with a 7.36 average rating.

Anis Mehmeti

image.thumb.png.33b51631800435c97a8f17c759fc0c03.png

Mehmeti also had a good season for us with 13 goals and 14 assists and an average rating of 7.24.

My aim next season is to just try stay in the Premiership.

A Twist In The Tale

image.thumb.png.0a059dcc711b5ff59ef27e3aa7755c08.png

I wasn't planning on buying, loaning or bringing players on free transfers but this opportunity come along and I took it.

I am bringing my boy back to the club. I have him on loan and have the option to bring him back to the club for £39m.

Bare in mind that Bristol City have a clause to have 40% of the profit on the next transfer.

So I sold him for basically £9. I sign him for £39m so that is £30m profit and I get 40% of the £30m profit back into the club coffers.

So basically I sign Alex Scott back for £18m in theory.

Competitions

A nice 14th place finish for Bristol City in our first season in the Prem. I would of been just happy to have finished 17th and just avoid relegation so this is a nice bonus.

We also made the quarter finals of both of the domestic cups with us losing to Leeds in the quarters of the FA Cup and and lost to Liverpool in the quarters of the Carabao cup.

We lacked goals this season with Tommy Conway was our top goalscorer with 11 goals for the season.

image.thumb.png.8992e08d710738304bd5727ffcb2014e.png

Taylor Moore was our overal best player with an average rating of 7.00.

He was very solid at the back.

Finances

3image.thumb.png.cab119d3a306fb981a9ff98842b6aea5.png

Finances for the club are looking amazing with us having £57m in the bank and projection to have £119m in the bank within the next 3 seasons.

image.thumb.png.5e049d3cee85a41207f344c0ac5b5796.png

Zack Ali

image.thumb.png.41e2782903148b1d216acb06eeb6a533.png

Zack Ali continues to get better and better and he is only 18 years old with 10 caps for Wales already.

He wants to leave to play for a bigger club but I wont be letting him go unless I get a big offer for him.

Alex Scott refused to come to Bristol City on a permanent deal and Chelsea recalled him on loan in January due to me not playing him in his desired role.

Ultimately the club will move on without him but if there is an opportunity to sign him again I will.

My aim next season is to get a top 10 finish and go further in the cups.

I'm Back

So after a few dozen differrent saves I have decided to come back with a bang and take a fallen giant back where they along and above as I want to take this team to the top of the world and I also want to do something I have never done before and reach the top of the World Hall Of Fame.

Which team am I  going to manage this time?

download.png.e2c8d1bdbbba9067088c517ef88519c9.png

download.jpg.a16d108b369dba733cb2cc7d2863cf36.jpgdownload.jpg.605c96a37bbfdb169152ea38d422d188.jpgdownload.jpg.6630f8575a14397bf77d74f1147e74ba.jpg

I always liked Norwich cos their bright yellow and green kits and I remember as a kid watching this 1992-93 Premier season review video and seeing this team nobody expected much from who ended up 3rd in the league that season.

download.png.d454b436b62930b11f85c9359dc94988.png

Norwich over the years have been mostly a Championship team with a season or two in the Premiership with them being in the Prem last in the 21/22 season.image.thumb.png.974dca2919c562c863a3030836efbdb3.png

Their recruitment has mostly been rubbish with the odd player they have unearthed to sell on for profit like Buendia.

The first thing I will be doing is getting rid of Stuart Webber and hopefully hiring a better DOF with a good track record of making the club money from buying cheap and selling for profit.

Here is a screenshot of where Norwich have bought their players from over the last 10 years.

image.thumb.png.007ed84b12e8a44b6ea303e97f72a32c.png

For some reason they have signed 3 players from PAOK so I might use PAOK as a feeder club if possible or just raid their squad for quality players.

image.thumb.png.7feece028b8a7d221362085d25c7ea87.png

So here we go.

image.thumb.png.64fac3eb638b9f771d40a6bbd3e3a415.png

image.thumb.png.cf357753f0d17f1e7da3f502779faeed.png

image.thumb.png.6b9285196ea2fc4c195b35a3165c9a09.png

image.thumb.png.ff3e93bbda2f8c29be4707cb72fdfd7e.png

Seasons expectations are pretty simple. Gain automatic promotion and sign players under 21 years old which I think I can do. Gaining automatic promotion in the first season might be difficult but achievable.

image.thumb.png.d02c480e2a45fa2d32c2953e56b08b96.png

I am going to use this Klopp downloaded tactic I found to start off with to see how we get on.

One thing I would like to do is have as many players from the academy as possible and also some good under 21 year old players from the English lower leagues.

I will try to move on the older players on big wages.

My highest valued players are Max Aarons who I am amazed hasn't left Norwich as he has been highly rated for years now. Gabriel Silva is also another highly rated Mezzala.

I will let you know how I get on with transfers once the transfer window closes.

Norwich Start Of Season So Far

image.thumb.png.0f7e644c40fc6667b081a5935fdff6aa.png

A nice start to the season with us sitting nicely at 2nd place with us 7 points ahead of 3rd place Burnley and only 1 point behind top of the league Blackburn.

Transfers

Transfers Out

Out the door was McGovern, Hanley, Kruel, Pukki,McLean, Hernandez and Daniel Sinani which boosted our transfer budget by bringing in £12.8m to boost our £5m transfer we already had.

Not bad considering most of these players were too old for what I want to do with this team.

Transfers In

Ricky Jade-Jones - £3m from Peterborough. Sent him out on loan to Wrexham for the season to get some first team football.

image.thumb.png.c663b05e5df8ecde6484975d0e6924be.png

Gaetan Poussin - £1.4m from Bordeaux - Signed as a back up goalie.

image.thumb.png.71714757c6da5e584f08d42a08f6e2d4.png

Andreas Aranganathan - £300k from Bromley - Signed as a young prospect but he has played 6 games already and scored 4 goals. Only 17 years old and has a bright future.

image.thumb.png.61807a8367c69f8de2727e7b4f627496.png

Regan Poole - £220k from Lincoln - My DOF signed him and he has done well so far with 4 games played, 1 goal and 2 assists. He also got his first cap for Wales.

image.thumb.png.32911c3661d58f102998e653e6224769.png

I have signed a few other prospects from the Vanarama National League who have good or great potential but I will only mention these if they start doing well for me.

The DOF I bought in to replace Stuart Webber was Les Reed who done very well for Southampton when he was there a few years a go.

I managed to get promoted with 5 games to go.

We destroyed the rest of the Championship which I wasn't expecting at the start of the season but as the season went on and with a few of my transfers really working out I knew we would get automatic promotion.

We ended the season as Champions with a massive 104 points.

Best Players

image.thumb.png.f38febdde5c0595ad0567f3334337ba1.png

Idah started the season as back up to Josh Sargent but slowly but surely replace Sargent and was really good for us with 21 goals in 21 games. I can't ask for better then that.

He is my main guy up front from now on.

I sold Josh Sargent to West Ham in January for £22m. He was amazing for us before he left with 22 goals in 24 games. I might sign Sargent again one day.

image.thumb.png.62335debf0082f1489e2d7ecfed69e15.png

Another great player for us this season was Marcelino Nunez who got 11 goals and 12 assists. He is an amazing player and I think he will easily make the step up to the Premiership next season.

image.thumb.png.42f7a0419e23dbaa740102d909814a41.png

My best young player of the season was Andreas Aranganathan who I signed from Bromley for £325k.

He was great in his first season with us with 18 goals for the season.

A very talented player in the making.

Another player I am excited about is Amaar Hussain who I signed from Altrincham for £350k. He done so well for my reserves I called him up towards the end of the season and he scored 3 goals in 8 games.

image.thumb.png.61f9dde2d168ba6cb333bfcdd87b16c9.png

I have no idea what next season will bring with us making the step up but as long as I stay in the Premiership I will be happy.

Norwich Season 2 Review

download.png.2be1e9bd6079c2105cead945972fdb9c.png

A very good second season in charge with us finishing 7th in the league and winning the FA Cup Final vs Spurs.

I have won my first trophy with Norwich. Hopefully one of many to come.

Best Players

image.thumb.png.e63bc1cace2f4056231b51d56699d8c7.png

Andreas Aranganathan had a great 2nd season with us with 17 goals for the season and 6 assists. He is getting better and better and that is scary as he is only 18 years old.

image.thumb.png.12b905be44bf7750010746c9c1f3bc4d.png

Sanson was a player we managed to get on loan for the season from Aston Villa and he smashed it with 14 goals and he also got the best average rating for the season. I am hoping to sign him on a full transfer in the summer.

image.thumb.png.1f03702809b751b135e6c1127598565b.png

Nunez had another great season for us with 7 goals and 15 assists. He unfortunately is moaning about not playing in his favoured role so I am probably going to move him on in the summer with Nottingham Forest and Southampton both offering me £20m each for him.

The future is bright for me and for Norwich.

Norwich City FC Season 3 Review

Another trophy won with Norwich with us managing to beat Lille 3-1.

image.thumb.png.df6ea0532c9bb10ddf53f4b1560c9d02.png

We managed to get a guaranteed Champions League place with us winning the Europa league which is brilliant as we underperformed in the league this year with us finishing 10th which was worst then our 7th place finish last season but still decent enough.

image.thumb.png.6f5263041b5479425f4ba65f22f5ff8b.png

We had a massive clearout at the start of the season with my 3 best players Nunez, Aranganathan and Max Aarons for a combined £130m plus addons. Overall we made £180m in transfers out and spent £165m bringing players in.

My intentions were to try bring some of the young players through from the academy and the players we raided from EFL clubs but not many of them seem to hit it off so we decided to bring in some reinforcements.

I signed Myron Boadu, Ousmane Dembele, Juan Larios, Jashar Dema, Matt O'Riley, Ilian Mesler and Max McFadden amongst some other players as well.

Our best players was our goal machine Adam Idah who got 38 goals for the season. He was integral in us winning the Europa league as he managed to score 16 goals in 11 Europa league games.

He loves a big occasion.

image.thumb.png.e5022045d4880b962421d7002b9a25a0.png

Matt O'Riley was my signing of the season with 11 assists and 6 goals for the season.

image.thumb.png.29799607fa08e754ae2a49fd01343688.png

Hopefully next season we get a top 4-6 position in the league and get past the group stage of the Champions League.

Unfortunately I couldn't be bothered to continue the Norwich City save as my love for Football Manager is getting less and less every save I do.

Hopefully FM24 will be better then FM23 and will bring back my love for the game.

I am going to do a Man City save for a bit just so I can manage Haaland for a few seasons but I will probably come back to the EFL thread at some point.

Thanks for anyone who followed my updates.

I managed them in last years game and eventually got in to the Premiership, still got the save on going and have just taken up the Belgium job on a part time basis. My aim is to firstly win either the league cup/FA cup then get into European competiiton on a regular basis. It will keep me busy I think.

I've not played that save for a while not but I did manage to make it into the Premier League myself. Here are some of my star men:

image.png.e787840d962d0dc9f9147df3b6428625.png

Missed out on him on a free when his contract at Bayern expired, he then went to Championship West Brom for some reason before I snapped him up from them after I won promotion to the Premier League.

image.png.fed20ac5e52ce25bcd6d61fa9d614865.png

He had a torrid first season in the Premier League but he improved so much over the season.

image.png.017a7dc8bf5d22109fc110fca5a1bbd7.png

Enes Sali is one of the main reasons that would bring me back to this save now, he's developed so well on this particular save. I actually signed him while I was still in the Championship.

image.png.b08c647b7c2685008085d780886d2846.png

LOVE this guy, came through the academy, 6"6, shoots with power and a driven personality. He's absolutely absurd considering that I can't imagine his potential being that high for a player that came through my academy when I was in League One. 25 league goals in his first season in the Premier League by the way at 17 as he's just turned 18... he's crazy.

image.png.adde97bcd4f3cc63bc55ee095cfb66ad.png

Retrained Guler to be a right-winger, such a lovely little player cutting inside.

Are there any obvious teams to go with if I am looking for at club that has some Premiership level talent? Preferably someone I could build around for several seasons.

Norwich, Middlesborough, Sunderland, Blackburn and Bristol City are the options I could think of but there is so many good teams in the Championship.

Is anyone still playing this now 24 is out?

Only started recently cos 23 was free on Epic games.

Started an MK Dons save and no money at all, but got promoted via the playoffs thanks to

Coulibaly (Free transfer) 28 goals in 43 apps

Zidane Iqbal (Free loan, no wages or fee)

Sinclair Armstrong (signed on a free)

Used the Assembeler Structra Cow 4-2-3-1 tactic

Hi there just wondering as anyone got ideas about teams to manage from premiership to national league?

It would help if you gave us more details on what you are looking for.

An English Prem team with a lot of money?

An Championship team with a good youth recruitment ?

A team that were once in the Prem but are in the lower ends of the EFL like Swindon, Oldham etc
