CFuller
What, no Seferovic? Cameroon have plenty of talented players but don't look like a great team to me, and I doubt they can break this tough Swiss defence down. Nil-nil draw.
Rob1981
Switzerland should have far too much for Cameroon here. They are not the dour anti-football merchants of old, and surely got to go all in here with Brazil and Serbia to come. Yakin been in the press saying this is Switzerland’s best ever side. Darren Moores Mum
Hopefully this won't be classic Switzerland and be dull as ****. Will have to go some to beat yesterday's early kick off for tedium though.
Constantine
Feels like this Switzerland side has been playing together for 10 or so years. Cameroon could give them game but I expect them to prevail. 1-0 Switzerland
CFuller
Andros Townsend on commentary. He's 31, playing for Everton, and is at his second World Cup... both as a pundit.

Rob1981
Great story if Rigobert Song can take Cameroon to the R16. Went to four WCs as a player and never got through the groups. And another player whose tournaments spanned 16 years (1994-2010), but he never gets a mention in the conversations about World Cup longevity because Cameroon didn't qualify in 2006. Therefore he only played in four and not five. Also the first man to be sent off in two different World Cups iirc.

The core of the team is buil around the golden generation, who won either the U-17 World Cup in 2009 or got silver at the U-21 EURO tow years later (some i.e Xhaka were at both tournaments). And they've been playing together at the "real" NT more or less since

Yep. In fact, it's the first time all African nations are managed by Africans. Full stop. EDIT: However, not all the African managers at this World Cup were born in Africa. Otto Addo (Ghana) was born in Germany, and Walid Regragui (Morocco) was born in France. Edited November 24, 2022 by CFuller

Otherwise, Buffon would have the record with six, as he would've played the last one, had Italy qualified. And you can maybe even make a case of seven, as Italy missed this one and he's still playing But great to see Song back at the big stage

He played in tournaments that were 16 years apart. Same as your five timers. So although only played at four, the gap between his first and his last is the same as Matthaus, Carbajal etc. Mind you if we counted that, Faryd Mondragon would win. WCs that were 20 years apart (1994-2014) but Colombia qualified for three out of six.
