Stuniverse
Tuesday 17th September 2024 Belper Town v Cambridge City FA Trophy 1st Qualifying Round Raygar Stadium, Belper - attendance 150 (2 away) -- We were very good tonight and thoroughly deserved the win. Cambridge City's goalkeeper superbly saved Tom Bell's long-range shot, but Joel Vincent reacted quickest to turn in the rebound to give us a 23rd minute lead. Eight minutes later, Tom Bell unleashed a 30-yard thunderbolt into the top corner. We then switched off at the back, not picking up Asonganyi in the six yard box and he pulled one back. After the break, D'Andre Wainwright restored our two goal lead on 59 minutes. D'Andre Wainwright scored his second goal on 82 minutes, after Dajaune Brown's powerful shot was only parried by their goalkeeper. Stuniverse
Saturday 21st September 2024 Preview: South Shields (away) FA Cup Second Qualifying Round South Shields are 9th in the Vanarama National League North (Tier 6). This will be a very difficult away challenge for us but we'll give it our best shot against a team who play two levels above us. After resting Farren Simons in midweek, he comes back in for Leigh Whelan. Bolton Makwedza gets a start in place of Steven Johnson-Fikula. With two extra subs spots in the FA Cup, Hugo Jinkinson and Jacob Gratton get places on the bench.
Stuniverse
Saturday 21st September 2024 South Shields v Belper Town FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Mariners Park, South Shields - attendance 3,431 (106 away) -- We knew South Shields are a very good team, and that this would be a very difficult challenge for us, and so it proved. Defensively, I thought we did very well, for the most part, and made life difficult for South Shields. We limited them to only six shots on target but the strikes from Angus, just before the break, and Fraser, not long after the restart, were just too good for us. At the other end though, we found it very tough and struggled to create any chances of note. We made some substitutions and went more Attacking after we fell 2-0 behind. Despite our best efforts, South Shields were too good for us defensively, and we were unable to test their goalkeeper at all.

Stuniverse
Tuesday 24th September 2024 Preview: Hebburn Town (Home) Northern Premier League Division 1 East Lewis Farmer is still out, but good news is that Sonny Best has passed a fitness test. It was a tough game last time out in the FA Cup losing 2-0 to Vanarama National League North side South Shields. Bolton Makwedza is suspended so Steven Johnson-Fikula comes in with Jack Armstrong taking a place on the bench. Kieran Smith, Joel Vincent and Tom Bell are looking tired which means Kane Patterson, Nathan Waterston and Leigh Whelan will start. Sam Sharrock-Peplow is also looking tired; Sam still starts but I'm putting Riley Moloney on the bench in case Sam can't last the full 90 minutes. Stuniverse
Tuesday 24th September 2024 Belper Town v Hebburn Town Northern Premier League Division 1 East Raygar Stadium, Belper - attendance 208 (2 away) -- We started well with D'Andre Wainwright giving us a third minute lead, but then we struggled. Hebburn Town equalised on 17 minutes and took the lead seven minutes later. We couldn't really get any control of the game and didn't look like getting back into the game. At half-time, my assistant manager Jon Froggatt told the team some home truths, playing bad cop... ... and then I picked them up again, sent Dajaune Brown on for Zack Clarke and went more Attacking. Dajaune Brown gave me plenty to think about, coming on at half-time and changing the game with a second-half hat-trick. D'Andre Wainwright scored his second goal of the game as we looked a completely different team after the break. And it could've been six when Nathan Waterston headed Sonny Bell's cross against the post. We made a couple more changes and went back to a Balanced mentality. Hebburn Town scored a late goal but we held out for a comfortable win... in the end. Edited March 13, 2023 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Saturday 28th September 2024 Preview: Worcester City (Home) FA Trophy 2nd Qualifying Round Worcester City are second bottom of the Northern Premier League Division 1 Midlands (Tier 8), which means they play at the same level of the football pyramid as us. Playing in front of the Nailers fans at Raygar Stadium we are confident of doing well. Lewis Farmer is the only player unavailable for selection. I'd intended to put Bolton Makwedza on the bench after serving his suspension but, after conceding three goals to Hebburn Town last time out, even though we won 5-3, Bolton comes back in for Steven Johnson-Fikula. Tom Bell, fresh from being rested, returns in place of Leigh Whelan. Riley Moloney also gets a start for Sam Sharrock-Peplow who's looked tired this last week. Zack Clarke hasn't been in the best of form and Dajaune Brown, has done enough off the bench since returning from an ankle injury, including a second-half hat-trick against Hebburn, to convince me to give him a start. A relatively straightforward victory in the end. Dajaune Brown set D'Andre Wainwright up for two goals and chipped in with one of his own. Worcester City scored a very late consolation goal which, from my standpoint, looked a yard offside. Fortunately, the game was already won by that point. Farren Simons and Charlie Rutt have been looking tired so Leigh Whelan and Steven Johnson-Fikula will start. Joel Vincent returns to the matchday squad on the bench. D'Andre Wainwright gave us a third minute lead, but we never looked comfortable against an Emley team who worked harder than us. A bad mistake by Kane Patterson on 18 minutes, allowed their winger in to equalise. Just before the half hour mark, Dajaune Brown was tripped in the penalty area and Nathan Waterston converted the penalty. In the second-half, we had our goalkeeper Sam Waller to thank for a couple of magnificent saves that kept Emley out. For once, the final whistle came as a relief. If I'm being honest, Emley deserved a draw, but we'll take the win. Edited March 13, 2023 by Stuniverse

We do have some tiredness in the squad after the FA Trophy game three days ago, so we'll be making some changes to freshen things up a bit. Steven Johnson-Fikula, Joel Vincent, Brad Williams and Leigh Whelan come in for Bolton Makwedza, Nathan Waterston, Sonny Best and Tom Bell. At least Dajaune Brown (ankle) should be back in training in the next couple of weeks. Nathan Waterston comes in for Joel Vincent. Sonny Best returns in place of Brad Williams. Stuniverse
Saturday 19th October 2024 Tadcaster Albion v Belper Town Northern Premier League Division 1 East Global Stadium, Tadcaster - attendance 189 (13 away) -- We thought Tadcaster Albion would give us a difficult game at the Global Stadium and so it proved. The players put in a real shift and goals from D'Andre Wainwright and Zack Clarke gave us a 2-0 win. Matlock Town went to Brighouse Town and also won so, at this early stage of the season, we remain top of the league on goals scored.
Stuniverse
Tuesday 22nd October 2024 Preview: Eccleshill United (away) Northern Premier League Challenge Cup First Round We went to the Mitton Group Stadium a couple of weeks ago in the League and beat Eccleshill United 3-0, but that game means nothing today as I've picked a completely different team. I'm sure Eccleshill will also want to prove they are a better team than we saw that day, which makes them a dangerous opponent. We are still monitoring D'Andre Wainwright (thigh) and Dajaune Brown (ankle) isn't ready for selection yet. We're going to freshen things up a bit tonight, mainly with the league in mind. Ben Voase wears the gloves today as we rest Sam Waller. Kane Patterson starts at right-back in place of Kieran Smith. Bolton Makwedza replaces Charlie Rutt, who was exhausted at the end of the last game. Riley Moloney will play left-back as we rest Sam Sharrock-Peplow. Leigh Whelan comes into central midfield for Tom Bell, and we'll probably give Tom and Farren Simons 45 minutes each. Joel Vincent comes in for Sonny Best, and will play right-wing with Nathan Waterston switching to the left. Finally, Zion Dixon starts up front so Zack Clarke can take a breather. Seven changes is, arguably, too many but it does give our squad players a chance to impress and stake a claim for a more regular starting place. I know that all the players we have here at Belper Town are good players, but I can only pick 11 and have another five on the bench, so there's always some unhappy players who don't make the matchday squad. To make seven changes today, and see the team play so well, I'm delighted for the players who came in today and showed everybody just how good they are. Sam Waller takes the gloves although Ben Voase didn't let us down in the midweek cup-tie. In defence, Charlie Rutt and Sam Sharrock-Peplow come back in for Bolton Makwedza and Riley Moloney. Stuniverse
Saturday 26th October 2024 Consett v Belper Town Northern Premier League Division 1 East Belle Vue Stadium, Consett - attendance 387 (9 away) -- Consett were 5th going into this game so we knew they would be a difficult opponent on their own turf. But, to be honest, we had much the better of it in terms of chances created but we didn't get enough on target. D'Andre Wainwright hit the woodwork twice - a header against the bar and a shot that crashed back off the post - before Consett took the lead. They scored a header in the 39th minute on a rare attack and that was it. We hit the woodwork a third time before the break when Steven Johnson-Fikula's free-kick rattled the bar. It was just one of those days. We continued to look good value for an equaliser in the second-half but we couldn't get the ball over the line. We did go even more attacking in the closing stages. Leigh Whelan had the ball in the net with a shot from outside the box, but the flag went up because one of our players was offside in the penalty area. I'm probably biased but, for me, Leigh's goal should have stood.

Despite losing 1-0 to Consett on Saturday, I didn't think we played that badly. Both full-backs though, Kane Patterson and Sam Sharrock-Peplow, had poor games so I'm starting Kieran Smith and Riley Moloney today. Nathan Waterston made it 2-0 on seven minutes. Zack Clarke hit the post after half an hour and a Nathan Waterston header skimmed the bar midway through the second-half. We finished the game with 10-men as Sonny Best limped off with an ankle injury after we'd made all our substitutions. Bolton Makwedza made it 3-0 late on with his first goal for Belper Town. Despite passing a fitness test, Sonny Best is pretty fatigued so Joel Vincent will start on the right-wing with Nathan Waterston switching to the left. Stuniverse
Saturday 2nd November 2024 Morpeth Town v Belper Town FA Trophy First Round Craik Park, Morpeth - attendance 471 (24 away) -- I'm so proud of the players today. To come to the home of a team second in the division above us, to score four goals, and win the game is something special. I don't like singling players out, but Leigh Whelan was superb and deserved his two goals. Riley Moloney was fortunate, I'll admit, to stay on the pitch after giving away a penalty when already on a yellow card. Sam Waller brilliantly saved the penalty and was magnificent all game. Morpeth Town showed how good they are with two late goals but, fortunately, D'Andre Wainwright, Leigh Whelan and Zack Clarke had put us in a commanding 4-0 lead that we were able to see the game out.
