ElJuanvito
Hey guys. For some tactics, I'm a fan of how inside forwards on support move towards the half spaces outside the box, without necessarily looking to finish plays themselves. I'm experimenting with a 4-4-2 where I want the wide midfielders to occupy these areas, what roles/duties are appropiate?
Overmars
Play around with the WM role. It is almost fully customizable so you can have them sit narrow or wide, dribble more or less, cross more or less, push further forward, etc. The inverted winger role is fine too but a little less customizable.
Smx
You can try inverted wingers, but no role can fully replicate the play of inside forwards.
Englishhammer
I found Wide Midfielders tend to to come inside a lot. obviously even more so with the "Cuts inside" trait.
bababooey
I don't think it's fair to say you can get an exactly equivalent, because to some extent these roles do have hard-coded things under the hood that we don't see or have access to. If I were trying to use a ML/MR in a similar way, I would probably choose WM-S/A and then adjust the player instructions to: cut inside more, shoot more, play more risky passes, sit narrower.
