Punch
FEB 2024 - FA Trophy 5th Round - Vs Curzon Ashton FC Match Report Spoiler A massive upset at Footes Lane as we send The Nash out of the Trophy. Two divisions above us, I think they turned up for an island holiday, but got blasted off the park. Early goals for Easter and Docherty stunned the visitors, giving us an unexpected lead at the break. Our defence held firm, and Ross Allen completed a second half brace to give us a 4-0 win, and send us unexpectedly into the next round. Quarter Final Draw Spoiler We will travel to Meadow Lane to take on Notts County in the Quarter Final. Up next...back to League action as we travel to the 19th place Met. Police. Punch
FEB 2024 - Match Day 33 - At Metropolitan Police FC Match Report Spoiler Solid performances all up and down the field as we crushed The Met in the first half, and then squeezed them out of the second half. An Allen brace, either side of a Docherty missile sent us to the break 3-0 to the good. In the second half our midfield and defence just kept closing down their attack, and gave them no chances to get back into the match. Another clean sheet was a pleasing result as well. Table Spoiler After the rest of the teams have played their make up games we have managed to stay 6th, and sit just one point outside the play offs spots. There are still plenty of teams within striking range though. Up next...we host 15th place Poole at Footes Lane.
Punch
FEB 2024 A decent month as we win three of four League games, and cause a massive upset in the FA Trophy. The analyst is happier with the defence this month as the goals conceded has come down, and is closer to the expected against per game. We hold 6th place. A tight table with 9 games to play. Stats Goalkeepers Defenders Midfielders Forwards We continue to go backwards. The Board has agreed to fund the next licence upgrade. It's taken nearly two seasons, but I finally got the Board to agree to upgrade something, as we get our first Youth Recruitment upgrade. After refusing to upgrade anything, they agreed to upgrade Youth Coaching with no argument. After battling to get anything past the Board, I got all three of these upgrades within the space of a week. A busy month coming up, along with a monster clash against Notts Co in the FA Trophy Quarter Final.
Punch
MAR 2024 - Match Day 34 - Vs Poole Town FC Match Report Spoiler A season high crowd turned up to Footes Lane to watch us put on an attacking clinic against The Dolphins. Unfortunately our execution was lacking and it was the visitors who scored first. We had to chase the game, and it wasn't until the hour mark before Allen got us back on level terms. But with an xG of over three, we couldn't get more than the one goal to secure the three points, and had to settle for a draw. Table Spoiler We remain in 6th place, on a still packed table. Up next...another tough match as we host League leaders Bracknell at Footes Lane.
Punch
MAR 2024 - Match Day 35 - Vs Bracknell Town FC Match Report Spoiler We made a shocking start against the League leaders, down 0-2 by 7 minutes, and 0-3 by 24 minutes, The Robins had blown us off the park. After a baking from the sideline, we finally woke up and started to stem the flow, before gradually turning the tide. A cracking goal from Salmon on half time gave us a glimmer of hope. We continued to push in the second half, but we just could not break down their defence, which was brilliant. We got a lifeline when they had a player sent off with 10 to go, and then Allen smashed home a header to bring us back within one, but we couldn't get back on level terms. The really poor first ten minutes cost us immensely in this one. Table Spoiler We were the only one that played as we have the FA Trophy game coming up, so it could cost us when all the teams around us play their matches. Up next...we host 11th place Hungerford.
Punch
MAR 2024 - Match Day 36 - Vs Hungerford Town FC Match Report Spoiler Hickinson gave us the early lead, but we couldn't hang on as we faded away to a disappointing loss. Fatigue, suspensions, and injuries have hit hard, as we only had three fully fit defenders after our quick succession of matches, and I had to pick players that were not fully fit. That came back to hurt us as we couldn't get anything going once they hit the lead. Table Spoiler We fall a spot to 7th. That may get worse as all the teams around us play their game 36 next weekend when we are playing in the FA Trophy. Up next...we travel to Meadow Lane to take on Notts County in the FA Trophy Quarter Final.
Punch
MAR 2024 - FA Trophy Quarter Final - At Notts County FC Match Report Spoiler A stunning defensive shift as we keep three division higher Notts scoreless. They also put in a good defensive effort to limit us to just one shot on target, so we ended up in penalties. A heart breaking loss as just one miss sent us out. Can't be too hard on the kid, as he was one of our best players through the rest of the match. Our best ever finish in the FA Trophy, and a massive effort to push a much higher division team all the way. Our share of the gate was £50k, which which is a decent conciliation, and a massive boost to the bank balance. Up next...back to League action as we travel to 12th place Salisbury.
Punch
MAR 2024 - Match Day 37 - Salisbury FC Match Report Spoiler Another late heart breaker as we come from behind to take the lead, only to give it up to a final minute equaliser. The form of Ross Allen in the last few games has become a concern. Table Spoiler After all the other teams player their catch up games while we were on FA Trophy duty, the damage was limited somewhat as most of the teams around us didn't gain too much of an advantage, with us only losing one spot to 7th. Up next...another tough match as we host 5th place Bedford.
Punch
MAR 2024 - Match Day 38 - Vs Bedford Town FC Match Report Spoiler A massive turn around as we come from behind. I sent Docherty out as a striker for the first time and he produced a fine display scoring a double to get us level, and then back in the lead. Another youngster Easter scored the sealer in the final ten, to put the icing on a great come from behind win. Table Spoiler We remain in 7th, and with 4 games to play, still in with a chance of play offs. Up next...the tough matches keep coming as we travel to 2nd place Gosport. Punch
MAR 2024 Things were looking pretty bleak until the end of the month, just the one win in five in the League. We also exited the FA Trophy, although that was probably a massive over-achievement. We are still both scoring, and conceding more goals than we should. Showing how incredibly close this League is, after a horrible month, we are still only one point out of the play off spots. With four games to play, 11th place is still in with a mathematical chance of making the play offs. Stats Goalkeepers I have continued with Jones in goal, and he has continued to put together a string of impressive performances, even though his save percentage has fallen. Defenders The defensive line has shown improvement with the changing of goalkeepers, and the change replacing the Tobin boys with the class of 23 kids. Midfielders Forwards Moving Docherty up front when Allen needs to be rested has paid immediate dividends, as his early season struggles in front of goal have morphed into banging them in for fun. A £50k payday against Notts, and I went to the Board to spend it straight away. They agreed to give me the money to upgrade out Training Facilities in the off season. Maybe I should ask them for the winning lotto numbers as they are giving me everything at the moment Another job offer, I think this is the fourth this season, although I have not bothered tracking them this time around. Four games to the end of the season, and we play three teams still in the race for the play offs.
Punch
APR 2024 - Youth Intake The class of 24 has arrived and it delivers plenty of promise. A lot of potential 4-5 star players, plenty of forwards, and defenders. The preview didn't show any central midfielders, there a re two DM's, and an AM who show reasonable M(C) numbers, and will be trained as such. A lot to like in the attributes scores as well, with several players already rating pretty close to first team potential. Still the majority from Guernsey, which is to be expected at this level, but there are quite a few kids with dual nationality. The Top 5 Spoiler An exciting looking defender with loads of potential, and already showing as one of the best defenders at the club. Can play center or left, and has potential on the right if needed. Another really exciting prospect, with the stars already rating him as a better keeper than class of 23 keeper Jones. Will be fantastic to see some competition for positions. A really good looking forward, who already shows good numbers as a striker or AM(C). Lacks a little pace and strength, but at only 15, hopefully those numbers can be improved. This one will be a project player. No massive numbers in any area, but massive potential if he can put the work in and reach it. Another project at the other end of the pitch. Doesn't yet show great numbers in any area, but the potential is there if we can get it out of him. Overall, very excited in the potential of this intake. There are a few kids that are not far off pushing for a first team spot already, while there are plenty of players with a lot of potential. Going to try and get an Under 18's team next season so we can keep the fringe players developing if they are not playing in the first team.
Punch
APR 2024 - Match Day 39 - At Gosport Borough FC Match Report Spoiler Another heat breaker as an early Allen goal and a late Docherty volley gave us what we thought was a winning advantage. But it wasn't to be as the hosts found an equaliser deep into injury time to steal a share of the points. Class of 24 defender Tyrie went straight into the first team, and put in a solid shift. In doing so he became our youngest ever player. Table Spoiler Three games to play and we are still in the mix for the final play off spot. Up next...we host 19th place Yate.
Punch
APR 2024 - Match Day 40 - Vs Yate Town FC Match Report Spoiler A disappointing result against a team in the relegation battle, but we just couldn't get the ball in the net. We had our chances, but so did the visitors, so at the end of the day, a draw was probably a fair result. Another of the class of 24 makes his debut, this time from the bench. Table Spoiler That may be the end of our chances of making the play offs. Our remaining games are against 9th place Dorchester, and 6th place Taunton. Up next...our final home game of the season as we host 9th place Dorchester.

Punch
APR 2024 - Match Day 41 - Vs Dorchester Town FC Match Report Spoiler A brilliant result as we overturn a half time deficit to take all three points at The Lane. Canha deflected a shot in to level the score while young winger Kirkpatrick turned in a winner to send a season best crowd into raptures. Seven yellow cards, five of them by half time. It's amazing we finished the game with eleven on the field. Two more from the class of 24 make their debut. Kirkpatrick's winner breaks the youngest goal scorer records for both the League, and the Club. Table Spoiler We jump to 6th, equal with 5th, but out of the play off spots on goal difference, with one game to play. This is a crazy League. 41 of 42 games played - Two teams can still win the title, four teams can still take the last play off spot, four teams can still take the last relegation spot. Up next...the final game of the season as we travel to Taunton Town, another team in the mix for a play off spot.
Punch
APR 2024 - The final day of the season So this is how the final day of the season looks. We take on Taunton Town away, both teams needing the win to be a chance of taking the final play off spot. It may not matter though, as the team in front of us both, Bedford are taking on relegation zone Yate. Although this may not be as easy as they think because Yate can possibly escape the relegation zone with a win. It's been a crazy season...so why not one more crazy day to finish it off. Punch
APR 2024 - Match Day 42 - At Taunton Town FC Match Report Spoiler A game that won't go down in the history books as spectacular, but we do enough to secure the points. Docherty got us off to a spectacular start, catching the keeper off his line with a tidy chip after 3 minutes. From there the game bogged down into a foul-a-thon in midfield. We done our part, and got the points, now we just have to hope for results to go our way. Table Spoiler It wasn't to be though as Bedford also won 1-0, securing 5th spot, and the final play off place on goal difference. Still an exceptionally positive season, as the newly promoted team, predicted for dead last, to miss out on the play offs by three goals. Up next...season reviews. Punch
APR 2024 While it wasn't enough to make the play offs we finished the season with an unbeaten month. The draw against Yate hurt us the most, as we really should have beaten a relegation team, and that extra 2 points would have put us in the play offs. Truro won through as expected, while WsM won a tight one against Gosport. Then in the shock result, WsM thrashed Truro in the final to win through to the National North/South. A 6th place finish, after being predicted dead last, should seem like a brilliant performance, but in a way it seems like we missed out. Another big loss, and those 'other' expenses are costing us a bomb. The budget is pretty much the same for next season.

Still, some good players from the intake, minutes for other players; I reckon you'll do it next year! It's a ridiculously close comp, but a bit tighter in defence, and a bit better execution in front of goal, and we might just get there. But, there are some big changes coming to the squad as well, as I am not re-signing a lot of the originals, so will be interesting to see how the squad accepts and adapts to the changes.
Blarney
Excellent save idea. Island life suits you. Great youth intake and so close this season already. I had very little knowledge of the Channel Islands but it looks like a wonderful place as well. I found a nice house right on the sea there for just over 10 million pounds. Seems reasonable.
Punch
2023-2024 Season Review A pretty solid first season on the Southern Premier South. Despite being predicted dead last, we almost made the play offs, and went on a Trophy run all the way to the Quarter Final. We finally got some club improvements in both of the Youth areas, and the crowds are increasing with the average creeping up over 800 this season. And we got 5 new social media followers
Punch
2023-2024 Season Review - Stats Goalkeepers Despite being young, Jones took over mid season and put in brilliant performances. From a similar number of matches, Jones concedes less, keeps more clean sheets, and has a higher save percentage. I am going to have some serious decisions to make come the new season, and the friendly matches will go a long way to deciding who starts. Defenders Hickinson has been the massive standout among the defensive line this season, while Jaenicke has been steadily improving. Class of 24 top prospect Tyrie had just the 4 games, but made an impression, and I am keen to see what he can do with more minutes next season. Harry Tobin broke his leg half way through the season, and Frank Tobin was dropped to bench player. It was the only way I could stop him getting sent off for two yellow cards. Midfielders Canha did play quite a bit in the center, as well as AM(C), but Salmon and de la Mare were the main players in midfield. This is an area that will make or break us next season, as most of the non-academy players won't be here, so we are going to need some of the academy kids to really step up. Forwards Ross Allen, 37 years old and his best years behind him, but still managed to bang in 29 goals across all competitions this season. Docherty has improved out of sight and along with Easter, make for a formidable attacking pair. Class of 24 Kirkpatrick has made an impression in the last few games, and I can see him being involved a lot more come next season. Loaring and Allen extend their respective records, which are going to take some beating.
Punch
2023-2024 Season Review - Attributes That favourite time of year when we can review how the players are progressing...or not. Goalkeepers This is an interesting one that shows that attributes don't always tell the full story. Kelly's attributes have improved greatly, but his match day performances do not mirror this in any way. Jones' attributes have not moved at all, but his performances on the pitch have been spectacular. There genuinely may be a three way fight for the Number 1 shirt next season. Defenders Hickinson is the best defender at the club, and has improved well, as had Jaenicke. Tyrie is a good looking defender straight off the bat, while Curry has shown steady improvement. None of the others have played enough to develop, but there will be plenty more minutes available in the first team next season, plus we will be running an 18's squad to get the kids playing. Midfielders de la Mare is probably one of the best players at the club, and this will be his last season with us. Salmon has shown solid improvement, and again, there will be plenty more minutes available next season. Forwards Allen continues to decline, but is still the best forward at the club. PLenty of improvement from Docherty and Easter, while some of the class of 24 will be pushing for first team minutes next season. Best Squad Our average age was nearly 30 when I took over the squad, after two seasons it's fallen below 20, while our average rating has peaked it's head back above the 40 point barrier. Punch
JUN 2024 - Off-season things A big clean out at Footes Lane, as I didn't keep any of the off contract players. Canha was a tough one as he was one of our best players last season, but had declined through this season. Mahon was another as he had been a solid defender. But I made a pitch to the Board when I got the job, that Youth was the way, so I am going to live and die by that sword. Should make for an interesting season ahead. Another one ticked off, lets see how long it takes me to get another upgrade going. The press linked me with Kidderminster, which made the Board happy when I wasn't interested. They didn't offer me a job, but there were two others. Both offers came in on the same day. I think that is offer 5 and 6 now. The season tickets gave us a slight boost, but we are still in the red. We did pick up another new sponsor. The Board haven't gotten any more ambitious, only wanting us to avoid relegation. We kick off the season away to Poole, before hosting Hungerford. The Bookies have written us off already, giving us no chance of staying up. Funnily enough, they said the same last season...and we just missed the play offs. We kick off friendly season against ourselves. One of the big changes is that we now have an U18's squad, so there is somewhere for the kids not in the first team to keep developing. We host four friendlies before the season proper kicks off.
Punch
JUL 2024 - Friendly season Some pretty decent results through the friendlies as we beat ourselves, put in a good performance against Bristol, got in a goal scoring shoot out with Isle of Man, pushed FGR all the way, before finishing with a loss, but a reasonable performance against Wycombe. Plenty of minutes for a lot of players, and I am pretty happy with the performances against much higher division opposition. The training Facility upgrade has been completed in time for the new season to start. Early season ticket sales are strong, giving us a good month financially. This is what my starting squad will look like. Over the season there will be rotation, and I am sure suspensions/injuries to deal with. Most of the kids with white CA's have been moved to or made available for U18's team, as we now have a manager and coaches. At the urging of my Assistant, young keeper Sedjini has been kept in the first team squad, while being made available for the 18's. Kelly is already making noise about wanting a move, so he may not see out the season. A massive 7 League games to kick off the first month of the season, so we might be managing fatigue early in the season.
Punch
AUG 2024 - Match Day 1 - At Poole Town FC Match Report Spoiler A really strange game as we blasted out of the blocks, taking a 3-0 lead by the half hour, before almost bottling it. Two goals from mistakes, as Jones dropped a cross into his own net, before a bad Jaenicke pass allowed a second. Then a clumsy challenge in the box gave the hosts a late chance to level, before Jones was able to atone for his earlier error, and saved the spot kick. We managed to hold it together for the last few minutes, and start the season with three points. When you let the kids play, you know there are going to be some mistakes and ups and downs, but if these kids keep this up, my hair might be a lot more grey in another 41 games Another of the class of 24 makes his debut. We dominated the midfield, and the xG suggest we should have won easily. I'll take the win, but it was a scratchy last hour after a brilliant first 30 minutes. Table Spoiler Three points to start the season, take the positive. Up next...all short turn arounds this month, and we face 6th place Hungerford in three days time, at Footes Lane. Punch
AUG 2024 - Match Day 2 - Vs Hungerford Town FC Match Report Spoiler A solid first half, with a 2-0 lead, exploded in the second half and we run away with a 5-1 win. The goals were shared around, and 37 year old Ross Allen showed he's still got something to contribute, with a brace. A quality all round performance up and down the field. Another of the class of 24 makes his debut. Table Spoiler 2nd place, and only 3 perfect teams remain after two games. Up next...a two day break again before we travel to 12th place Merthyr.
Punch
AUG 2024 - Match Day 3 - At Merthyr Town FC Match Report Spoiler A disappointing loss as we spent most of the match playing 10 men, but couldn't take any of the few chances we created to take advantage. To make matters worse, in the shadows of full time, we got caught on the break and they stole a late winner to take all three points. A heavily rotated squad as this was our third game in seven days, but we really should have made much more of it. Three games in and we have had three debuts. Table Spoiler We sit 3rd, and just like that, after three games, there are no perfect teams left. Up next...we actually get a while three days rest before we take on newly promoted Cirencester at Footes Lane.
Punch
AUG 2024 - Match Day 4 - Vs Cirencester Town FC Match Report Spoiler This feels almost like a loss as we dominate the match, but only have a draw to show for it. Another match where we spent a large portion playing against 10, and again couldn't make it pay. 20 shots on goal, but most were off target, and even the ones that were, we couldn't get past their keeper. One positive, we didn't concede late and get nothing out of the game. Four from four as another of the class of 24 makes his debut. Table Spoiler We fall to 5th. Up next...another tough match on just two days rest as we travel to 17th place Swindon Supermarine.
Punch
AUG 2024 - Match Day 5 - At Swindon Supermarine FC Match Report Spoiler The rotated squad put on a fantastic show at Swindon, rattling up a 4-0 win. A brace each for Cameron and Allen, along with a string of brilliant performances to keep the hosts scoreless, which was pleasing as well. Two more makes it 6 in 5. Table Spoiler We jump back to 3rd. Up next...a three day break before we host 13th place Basingstoke.

Punch
AUG 2024 - Match Day 6 - Vs Basingstoke Town FC Match Report Spoiler Another game where we run out to a 3-0 lead, and then had to hang on for dear life as we faltered late in the game. A brace for Docherty as he continues to shine when he plays as a striker. Table Spoiler We rise to 2nd on goal difference. This is a template like what I am currently using for the Guernsey save. It takes bits and pieces from what others have shared, and tracks things that I like and have added as well. You can add pages for positions you want to track, and you just need to adjust the formula, for which there is a good explanation on the first page. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Punch
AUG 2024 - Match Day 7 - At AFC Totton Match Report Spoiler We looked, and played like a tired team in this one. Even though we managed to recover from the early penalty set back, and draw level by half time, they hit the lead again straight after the break, and we couldn't recover. Spoiler The loss drop us out of the play off spots, 6th on goal difference. Up next...another tough one as we host 2nd place Dorchester.
Punch
AUG 2024 An absolutely insane beginning to the season as we peel off seven games already. Four wins and a draw, with the amount of rotation for fatigue management, I am pretty happy with that start. It could have been better, but it could have been much worse. We are scoring more goals than expected, and we are actually conceding slightly less than expected. We sit in 6th place, out of the play off spots on goal difference, however, one less win, and we could be in the bottom half of the table. Stats Goalkeepers Just Jones has been used so far, and his performances have been pretty decent. Saves keeping pace with expected saves, although he could improve his passing. Defenders Showing how much of toll our schedule has taken, seven defenders were used in the first month of the season. Hickinson has been brilliant, and there have been some pretty solid support performances. Midfielders Loaring mostly plays AM(L) but de la Mare and Salmon have been brilliant in the midfield, breaking up opposition attacks, and getting us going forward. Forwards Newly appointed Captain, Docherty has lead from the front brilliantly, while Allen has settled into his part timer role like a duck to water. A lot of rotation needed in this area as well, and the support acts have really been stepping up where needed. We sent our first player out on loan, to see if it helps development. Will be interesting to see how it compares to players that stay at the club and play in the 18's. A small loss this month. A 10% increase in season ticket sales, which is impressive as we are still in the same division. Our FA Cup campaign kicks off next month, and we will play Yate Town, who were relegated from our League at the end of last season. The hectic start to the season continues. Punch
SEP 2024 - Match Day 8 - Vs Dorchester Town FC Match Report Spoiler A tough affair at Footes Lane as neither side could find a winner, with the points shared. The visitors got on the board with a first half penalty, with Ross Allen slotting home the second half equaliser. We are still struggling with fatigue and not at our best, so to hold a top side to a draw, is not a terrible result. Table Spoiler We hold 6th place, although we lose ground on the play off spots. Up next...The FA Cup rolls into town as we host Yate in the 1st Qualifying Round.
Punch
SEP 2024 - FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round - Vs Yate Town FC Match Report Spoiler A good crowd in at the Lane as we dominate Yate, to advance to the next round. An early Docherty goal, followed by a brace from Kirkpatrick. Kelly got the start for the Cup game, saved a penalty, and kept a clean sheet. A good day at the office all round. 2nd Qualifying Round Draw Spoiler We host Sporting Khalsa in the next round. Up next...the crazy schedule continues as we host last place Berkhamsted at Footes Lane.
Punch
SEP 2024 - Match Day 9 - Vs Berkhamsted FC Match Report Spoiler A Kirkpatrick brace, and another penalty save, this time from Jones, to keep a clean sheet, and we collect the three points with a solid performance over the last place team. Table Spoiler We jump to 4th, but there is a log jam of teams around us. Up next...we travel to 10th place Bedford.

Punch
SEP 2024 - Match Day 10 - At Bedford Town FC Match Report Spoiler A really tired performance as we go down in a close one away to Bedford. A lot of tired legs that didn't have a lot to give on two days rest. Even though a few subs created some opportunities late, we couldn't do enough to run them down. Table Spoiler We are still in the play off spots, but only just. Up next...we have a full week off, no mid-week games, but only because we host the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with Sporting Khalsa coming to the Lane. Docherty got us off to a spectacular start, catching the keeper off his line with a tidy chip after 3 minutes. From there the game bogged down into a foul-a-thon in midfield. We done our part, and got the points, now we just have to hope for results to go our way. Table Hide contents It wasn't to be though as Bedford also won 1-0, securing 5th spot, and the final play off place on goal difference. Still an exceptionally positive season, as the newly promoted team, predicted for dead last, to miss out on the play offs by three goals. Up next...season reviews. This was close brother, i thought u had it
