A really pleasing performance as we come out on top in a tough fight against The Mackerel Men.

Captain Docherty lead from the front with a goal in each half, before a pleasing defensive effort as the visitors applied plenty of pressure in the final 20, looking for an equaliser.

We took an early lead over the Clarets and looked comfortable, without being able to put the game to bed.

We then conceded against the run of play, and just as the game looked to be heading for penalties, Curry pops up to head home a winner in the dying moments to send us through.

We renewed our rivalry from last season against United, and were able to come out on top, winning our first game of the new year.

It was a tight affair, but in the shadows of full time, Docherty latched onto a great pass from Salmon to bury his shot, securing the three points.

League leaders, The Stones, put our unbeaten home record under massive threat, as they applied plenty of pressure.

They got the early goal and had all the running, and I don't know if it more good defence, or good luck that enabled us to prevent them scoring a second.

Entering injury time, and looking like our home run was over, an innocuous attack resulted in a hand ball, which left the ref no option but to point at the spot.

Substitute Abrahams stepped up and buried the spot kick, which secured a share of the points, and kept our unbeaten home League run alive, which has stretched nearly two years.

A really strange game at The Hamlet as we took a half time lead only to give it up just after the break.

After withstanding their onslaught, we then went on run smashing in three goals to run away with the game.

One of those weird games where we put four shots on target, and they all went in, they put seven on target, and only scored once.

A two minute brace for Kirkpatrick was all it took to settle this one, in what was a pretty tight affair.

Or only a couple of wins from possibly going up 4 spots... glass half full view.

You knew it was going to be rough riding, so treading water while staying alive is good.

Relegation shouldn't be an issue, with an outside chance of playoffs still a possibility.

While we have probably over-achieved in some ways, we have been massively inconsistent in patches.

And by that I mean in compared to last season, where in patches we were invincible, and while I know we are playing a higher level of opposition this season, we just seem to have been a lot more hit and miss this season.

We have flip-flopped from 5 games without a win, to 5 games without a loss, straight back to 5 games without a win.

I guess that's the beauty of playing with kids, you have to expect some inconsistency, and try and push through it until they gel together, cut out the mistakes, and create more/take more chances.

While an away point is good, this seems like a lost chance.

The Beavers sacked their manager the day before the game, and are in the relegation zone, but we just couldn't create enough chances.

What about that title fight. Three teams on equal points and 4th place not far behind.

Wow! That is close.

And what’s worse, @Punch, only one goes up automatically, one may win the playoffs, but one, possibly two, will still be around next season as you look to push-on with Guernsey.

The sooner they make the National Leagues three up-three down, the better.

Like the IRL National League title fight this year. You could end up with two team scoring 100 goals, making 100 points, and one of them might not be in League Two next season, which is crazy.

The great escape over The Rocks, as we convert a penalty deep into injury time to secure three points.

We had probably outplayed the hosts over the course of the match, but as time wound down, we found ourselves level.

In the shadows of full time, we earned a penalty after Docherty was pulled down in the box, which Tyrie converted calmly to secure the win.

MAR 2027 - Youth Intake

The Class of 27 arrives

YouthIntake1.png.48334b1579eb9b3a8e515aa89f6f9b3b.png

Plenty of potential in the star show, but interestingly, one of the highest potential players, has one of the lower PA star ranks.

YouthIntake2.png.2441af2c887c47dbfd744925525cb0cf.png

A real mixed bag among the attribute scores as well.

There are some players with a high score, but lower potential, and low scores, with higher potential.

Going to be interesting to see how they pan out.

YouthIntake3.png.4cc307117f948cf2660280da4401ea56.png

More players with dual citizenship this year, as we welcome our first players from Angola, Iceland, and Slovakia.

Spoiler

YouthIntake5.thumb.png.6b462720768e23da037d5a64155daf5e.png

Jones looks to be a solid defender, now to get that potential out of him.

YouthIntake6.thumb.png.28aa050aa9349d2249fa1729e624b959.png

A good looking midfielder, needs to grow his pace, but plenty of potential.

YouthIntake7.thumb.png.8d1f247b34fe4e69ea22ee2d8f513a0f.png

Another solid looking defender to come through this season, with some luck we can get them to reach potential, and help increase the back line stocks.

Not sure what to make of this intake. A lot of potential, but some low attributes as well, and vice-versa.

I do know that with now 80 players at the club, it might be time to hit the Board for that U21s squad, as we are going to have a lot of players, not playing.

MAR 2027 - Player spotlights

I was trawling through the data hub and noticed that the Analyst had highlighted a couple of players to take a look at this month.

Attacking Player of the month

MARPlayerSpotlight1.thumb.png.93b4358f8367fe05306cccf57bfd9fb3.pngMARPlayerSpotlight1a.thumb.png.433b3016ba1e097ef3aa3a452aa56494.png

Easter, a versatile forward, who can and has filled every spot in the front four.

He had a busy month, appearing in every game, putting up some impressive numbers, also contributing two goals.

MARPlayerSpotlight2.thumb.png.acd6ce24e370ea8ecc84d3afb6132884.png

He has also put up some impressive numbers for the season.

While Docherty and Kirkpatrick contribute a lot of the goals, Easter puts in a lot of the hard work, that doesn't always show up on the glory stats.

Defensive player of the month

MARPlayerSpotlight4.thumb.png.37e4010f60132754bec0b159deb081d4.pngMARPlayerSpotlight4a.thumb.png.850af35283edfc84c72f4bd0a15b5d2a.png

While his ratings have been down, his performances have been impressive, especially the goals conceded, versus the expected goals conceded.

While Jones is a decent back up when he is on international duty, Sejdini is far and above as our number one keeper.

MARPlayerSpotlight5.thumb.png.a93d5edcd0db3d5d0eef09344b613918.png

Some good numbers for Sejdini over the course of the season too.

Although it's telling that we have only kept 6 clean sheets in his 36 games. That's a defensive area to tighten up.

We put in a good effort against a highly fancied Dover team, but we ultimately fell in a shoot out.

A solid defensive performance to limit them to one goal, before we hit back with a late penalty.

We held our own in the shoot out before a great save on our last shot bundled us out in the Semi Final for the second time.

An incredible attacking performance, and a massive turning point sent us on the way to a huge win over The Robins.

After Docherty gave us the lead at half time, a dodgey penalty call gave the host a chance to equalise, as the shot was pushed into the post to preserve our lead.

A few minutes later, Docherty scored two goals in two minutes to open the game up, and break the home sides spirit.

A goal each to finish the match, confirmed an unlikely 4-1 thrashing.
