A game that could have went either way at 1-1, but we stuck at it and run away with the game.

Two penalties certainly helped our cause, but it was a good attacking performance, and the defence held firm as well.

A massive upset at The Lane as we hold off the highly fancied Heed to record a huge three points.

An early goal put the visitors on the back foot, and they never really recovered.

A late sealer confirmed the points, in an impressive all round performance.

A tough battle at the Lane as we outlast The Sports to advance to the next round.

An early goal gave us the advantage, but we couldn't make the most of it, and they hit back just after the break.

Just when it looked like penalties, Docherty stepped off the bench to smash home a winner from outside the box to confirm the win.

Your doing good work more points than games played is the goal when trying to survive a relegation BATTLE. 34 points in 28 matches isn't bad at all.

If you were on 56 points I think you would be talking promotion......and the title race.

It goes back to my rules of thumb: that 2 points per match will win you the League or Promotion most seasons.  2 more points than matches usually makes you safe from relegation most seasons.

We are not doing too badly really. A little inconsistent, and we are really having some fatigue issues coming through now after a brutal last few months in the schedule.

We have some players like Pepe, Alexandrou, Docherty, and Kirkpatrick who are only playing every second game at the moment, but also not a bad thing as it is giving me a chance to get some senior game time for some of the younger kids, and seeing what they are made of.

A tough result on many levels as we struggled to make any impact against Stanley.

They had an early lead and were controlling the game, made harder when we had a player sent off for a lazy pull of the shirt.

They completely controlled the game as we laboured to our 5th straight away loss.

Well beaten, but not embarrassed as The Red Devils put us through the ringer, and to be honest, they should have scored a lot more than 5.

Career highlights for Docherty and Cameron, scoring on the famous Theatre of Dreams against Premier League opposition.

While we exit in the 3rd Round, we do take with us just over £1 million for our share of the Gate, which will go a long way to funding the club for some time to come.

Your still outside the relegation zone.  Cup runs are often a nuisance when your in-relegation battle.

For a club like yours the money is good, but you must balance it against the needs of the main competition the League. Sometimes it's not worth it.

The table still looks a bit weird as well with all the teams still involved in Cups, with one out of the way now, hopefully it shakes out a bit clearer over the next few weeks as the catch up games are played.

Still basic, but yes, it might be time to have a chat to the Board about some upgrades.

The winner coming late in the second half, the first goal from a Class of 29 member, as Harry Reid smashed home a close range effort.

We had to come from behind twice to hold off a determined Centurions outfit.

As it was, we had to go to penalties to sort this one out, and after missing our first shot, Sejdini then saved their first two shots, and we were able to close it out from there.

Some further midweek make up matches as teams are still getting around their Cup/Trophy commitments.

Poor old Eastleigh are having a rough trot, at one stage they were well ahead of us, with three games in hand, and they have since lost two make up games, and five on the trot, to be just one point ahead, with one game left in hand.

An entertaining game for our first ever televised League match as we come from behind to share the points with the Minstermen.

The visitors had the running in the first half,  taking a 0-2 lead at the break.

We mounted a brilliant comeback in the second half, leveling by the hour mark, and probably a little unlucky not to take a winner.

A solid crowd went home reasonably happy with our fight back, and the TV audience got to see our fighting spirit for the first time.

FEB 2030

FEBSchedulecomplete.png.ccf3f83dc49aa0560f5c02717861129f.png

It was a pretty decent month results wise, winning 3 of 5 Leagues games, and advancing in the Trophy.

The number of goals conceded continues to be a concern.

FEBAnalyst.png.d96450d6c88c44cd58b91f749ce71da5.png

The Analyst echoes the concerning number of goals conceded stats.

FEBTable1.thumb.png.17a73fccb3bf8de69476b223f03390ac.png

With 9 games to play we sit mid table, which is a pretty impressive result for a team in our first year in the National League.

Looking at the teams around us, we have scored a lot more goals, but also conceded a lot more.

FEBTable2.thumb.png.84c838087577ac3e4b088299a77b7fd9.png

The xG table suggest we should nearly be pushing for a play off spot, being 2 points behind expected, while our conceded is right, we score a lot more than expected though.

But in good news, with 8 games to play, we have reached the magical 50 point barrier, which generally means safety from relegation.

A pretty decent performance at the Lane, despite going down to a late Robins goal.

The visitors dominated the match, but our defence held firm, while we struggled going forward, creating very few chances.

We looked like we might have done enough to take a point, but a late strike consigned us to a disappointing defeat.

I am on an FA Cup run in my save.....even with all my tactical problems with pressing teams. Sometimes you get lucky and FM them!

It feels a bit like the IoM save, where we are all over the place defensively in the first season after promotion. Hopefully we can pull it together and get more consistent.

The Cup run has been great, although looking at our opponents in the Trophy, we have had a dream draw, and a lot of the bigger clubs have fallen over early this season.

MAR 2030 - Youth Intake

The first class of the new decade arrives, with the preview offering a decent intake, what arrived shows plenty of potential to be excited about.

YI1.png.6fadf9fa0a763be53a48b81f1ede1735.png

While the star rating system always seems pretty useless, it does give us 10 potential 5* players, along with another couple of decent looking prospects.

YI2.png.e0b0ee04e0ae9d36118b9db85546fe91.png

While the attribute averages look like a mixed bag, there is a 50 point player in there, although his potential is not as high as some of the others.

It will be very interesting to see how these develop over the coming seasons.

YI3.png.0fa5fa947f874ddffc038d59c3cd79f8.png

YI4.png.eaf310434f112ec7c377ff8ac20f34fc.png

Plenty of dual citizens again, but we also welcome our first from Canada and Romania.

YI5.png.6725b8ff13ae8015856e224dedfd9dcf.png

YI6.png.6bdf3cb544a3e845bc9b953162ac2dc0.png

The vast majority are still homegrown talents though.

The Best 5

Spoiler

YI7.png.087279192c71c592db5c3928c56a0958.png

A really exciting prospect in defence, Kelly already has a lot of decent attributes, with plenty of room for growth.

YI8.png.ec9e7875159799d451fa51f39da12ad2.png

After struggling in the early seasons for goalkeepers, the Academy produces it's third exciting keeper in a row, with a 199cm Belgian monster, who looks like a very exciting prospect.

YI9.png.60401b1115dddbaf18dc881bdd1da968.png

YI10.png.30e55c341a19a02c0ad3a63c78d8a242.png

We then have two more very solid looking defenders, so if we can get some of these guys to potential, we have a very solid looking back line in a few years time.

YI11.png.bd83f4c77fd39f2698e5dd93059a5993.png

Another Belgian to round out the top 5 with an exciting central midfielder. With some work to do to get him to potential, he is another great prospect coming down the line.

Overall, enough to be excited about, as the future continues to look good, with a lot of highly rated prospects coming out of the Academy.

Now to see if we can get them to their potential.

A really disappointing result as we go down at Boro.

We always seemed to be chasing the game, going behind early, and then again quickly after leveling in the first half.

Despite sustaining some pressure late in the second half, and pulling one goal back, we couldn't do enough to get anything out of the match.

A tight battle at The Lane as we managed to come from behind to rescue a point against the Spitfires.

Despite taking the lead, we found ourselves behind at half time.

We kept coming at them though and were rewarded with an equaliser, but neither side could find a winner.

While it was all but confirmed, it's now mathematically confirmed the we have avoided relegation with 3 games to play.

Poor Port Vale, who were in League One a few years ago, have continued their massive plunge, as they are the first team relegated, and will be in the 6th their next season.

Great Job! Surviving in the league is important.

As for Rochdale in the Trophy Final. Can you change it up tactically? I played a Balanced Mentality and Early Crosses (with a good heading team) to win the FA Cup. Instead of Positive and Work the ball in the box.

Thank you!

Attacking wise we are pretty solid, I think the bigger challenge will be cutting out the defensive lapses that have been letting us down all season.

If we have a good day in that regard, we are a good chance, if we have an off day, we could get belted.

One of our best performances of the season as we run riot of the relegation bound Daggers.

After taking a one goal lead to the break, we busted the game open and run through them in the second half, peeling off three more goals, including a brace for Pepe.

A brilliant result as we thump play off contender Yeovil in our final home game of the season.

A two goal lead at the break, was rounded off by a third late in the second half.

Aside from the attacking performance, another clean sheet was an important performance as well.

APR 2030

APRSchedulecomplete.png.d147e3d7590a6607aa3b889c76ccc370.png

We put in a pretty good month, keeping four clean sheets, in four wins, but when we concede, we concede plenty.

APRAnalyst.png.cf2aefb51a3d8f6173ba2eb8043d8892.png

The Analyst is happy enough, although we concede too much.

APRTable1.thumb.png.93b7ee7206f8e33363dc04e2187ccbac.png

We sit 14th with one game to play, and the last day has a big impact at both ends of the table.

APRTable2.thumb.png.def24bf7fb5181130a21cb0c20bf9c8d.png

The xG suggests we should be in the Top 10, but we are also scoring more, and conceding less than expected.

I will probably put some friendlies in the break to keep the legs fresh.
