Strigo
Hi all! I have a problem with the main cup in National Rules - Advanced Editing. It is a pretty straightforward FA Cup style Knockout competition with the top 2 tier teams (32 teams) joining the competition in the round of last 64. Before that, 3rd and 4th tier teams competing for the other 32 places. I use Get all teams from division for the top 3 tiers and Get best teams from division for the 4th tier (to make it 128 teams for the Preliminary Rounds). The issue is that in the 3rd tier there are some B/Reserve teams. They can't participate in the Cup because I ticked the Don't use Reserve/B teams option. First season runs fine, top 2 tiers joining on a later date. The problem is with the 2nd season and onwards because some of the B teams (let's say X teams) get relegated from the 3rd tier, thus X more first teams are available to the competition because of the Get all teams from division rule. That leaves X 3rd/4th tier clubs participating in the competition but not appearing in the Preliminary Round, only later when the top 2 tier clubs supposed to join. And they do appear in the draw instead of X top tier clubs (randomly chosen) who are completely missing from the competition. Here is the math for a better understanding: Season 1: Tier1: 12 teams (all) Tier2: 20 teams (all) Tier3: 60 teams (all) - 16 B teams makes it 44 teams actually Tier4: 84 teams (best) Sum: 160 teams Season 2: Tier1: 12 teams (all) Tier2: 20 teams (all) Tier3: 60 teams (all) - 14 B teams makes it 46 teams actually Tier 84 teams (best) - it is set to Maximum number of teams Sum: 162 teams, 2 top tier teams not participating Is there a way to make sure the teams joining later are all top 2 tier teams? Their seedings are the lowest, tried to play with the Reverse teams option without success. Thank you.
Wolf_pd
Maybe check the German cup for this, as Germany has a similar setup, B-teams are not allowed, so they need to pick other teams.
themodelcitizen
Could you set each stage to have min/max teams, and under "teams" set min/max along with "get all teams from division" and set the first round that each entry starts from? I think each stage might be smart enough to then only schedule enough games as it needs. Alternately have each round as its own stage with its own "teams" entry (using min/max again) and then the next stage has "get qualified teams" with a min/max number as well Edited January 30, 2023 by themodelcitizen
Strigo
Thanks everyone, it looks like the problem is solved. I have changed the draw rules for the round when top teams join the competition. Tier 1 and 2 teams are seeded now so they get a lower division team (away) and they do not miss from the draw.
