FC Bayern Munich vs VfB Stuttgart Their winning goal came late, but it was more than deserved. FSV Zwickau vs VfB Stuttgart They even went in front. But then we took control. We now will face Bayern in the semis, away. VfB Stuttgart vs TSG Hoffenheim A comfortable win against our rivals. Glasgow Rangers vs VfB Stuttgart We got away. Seimen saved two (!) penalties and we scored two after the break. Lady luck was with us this night. SC Freiburg vs VfB Stuttgart The next derby. And again we refuse to lose. VfB Stuttgart vs Glasgow Rangers We went out. But we had to field almost our entire bench because of our many injuries. This came at the worst time. VfB Stuttgart vs Borussia Monchengladbach At least we could field some more first teamers again. And it showed. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE We are struggling to keep up. THE YOUTH TEAMS VfB Stuttgart II VfB Stuttgart U19 THE YOUTH INTAKE Gyamfi, Ahrendt, Mesic, Kientz and Gmunder were all signed on the spot. NXGN2024 Dennis Seimen made the top 10! I guess the team is just not ready yet to play on three fronts. You can still get a CL-ticket and are in the semi-finals of the cup.. This time no detailed reports for the Bundesliga matches. FC Bayern vs VfB Stuttgart This comes as no surprise. And they of course went on to win the damn thing. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE It´s of course Bayern again. Frankfurt seems to establish as the second strongest power in the Bundesliga lately. And we qualified for the Champions League! Proud to see Silas and Ulrich up there with the best in the season statistics too. More statistics in the season summary update soon. THE YOUTH TEAMS VfB Stuttgart II VfB Stuttgart U19 CLUB NEWS Our young keeper Dennis Seimen got called up for the upcoming EUROs! Carambau Posted March 27, 2023 Author Share Posted March 27, 2023 (edited) FEARLESS AND FAITHFUL Season Summery The rise of Dennis Seimen continued in his second season. Thomas Tuchel even called him up for his Germany side for the EUROs and he was even capped in a pre-tournament friendly. For us, he played 27 games, 6 more than his rival Florian Muller, who has now officially become our number 2 keeper. Schock will leave anyway. After the departure of Sosa in January we signed Aude who has proven a revelation. A very consistent performer, he went on to become one of the fan´s favorites. New signing Pfeiffer had no problems to fit right into our central defense. Illaramendi played in more than 20 games, triggering his clause of one more year at the club. Holm & Lotomba were useful and decent performers on both sides. Sontheimer didn´t really play a role. Kovalenko though was able to surprise me and set some highlights here and there. New CM Alena had a wonderful season, making 25 goals in total! Academy product Ulrich was also able to shine, having his hand in 24 goals, the same number as our star Silas! As for the new strikers Elis & Botheim - both were able to score a lot of goals and therefore justified their signings. Genki clearly is on the decline and does not have a future here. Coulibaly also wasnt exactly brillant, we will consider his future at the club. On another note - we conceded 52 goals in 34 games this season. Less than last season (61), but still way too many. This is a real concern and I hope we can get better in that department next season. THE YOUTH TEAMS VfB Stuttgart II got relegated from the 3. Liga this season. They were in the relegation zone from the start and never really managed to get away from there. There were also no really outstanding players this season. So better start new in the Regionalliga next season with some new players from the U19 team. VfB Stuttgart U19 easily won their Regional U19 Bundesliga group again and qualified for the U19 Bundesliga playoffs once more. This time they went out in the semis against Borussia Dortmund U19s. Also, they went out in the DFB Pokal der Junioren in the quarter finals against Bayern Munich 19s. THE EUROPEAN CUP WINNERS Champions League Real Madrid back at the top after defeating their city rivals. Europa League The EL title belongs to the Bundesliga! It´s the third time in a row a German team wins this cup. UEFA Conference League Saka secures the only title for Arsenal this season. You can´t do anything about it when Real Madrid wants one of your players, they paid the release clause, but there was no chance of persuading him to stay here. Both right backs have been sold as well, as both threatened to go public if we rejected the bids. Off you go. Genki was loaned out, as were some young talents. AND also our new signing Zito, who made some big noises when we brought in another winger - he felt his position on the team threatened by him. I don´t like players to be too vocal and so we loaned him out for the next TWO seasons. That´s what you get when messing around. No longer a concern now. Luis Muriel might be the most famous name here. His contract at Atalanta ran out and we snapped him up right away. As a proven goalscorer, he still has a lot to offer, even at an age of 32. Zito is a talented winger, but he is out on loan for the next 2 seasons because of what happened. Another winger is 18 year old Roony Bardghji, bags of talent and potential. We just HAD to activate his release clause once we saw him in our scouts´ recommendations! Central midfield talent Matthias Braunoder joins from Austria Vienna. As both our right backs were sold, we had to take action here: In came Joel Veltman, Dutch international with a lot of experience. We needed a new 3rd keeper, so in came Janis Blaswich. Kristinsson was signed to play for the VfB Stuttgart II team in the Regionalliga. THE TEAM ANALYSIS Goalkeepers Everything has changed here. Muller is not the number one anymore. Seimen has developed far quicker than I expected. And he already has 1 cap for Germany. Blaswich is there only for the emergency. We need to get tighter in defence. 52 conceded goals last season are far too many! Hopefully Veltman can contribute with his experience. Apart from him, there are no notable changes to our backline of Aude - Pfeiffer - Zagadou - and now Veldman. I wonder how long Anton will cope with the situation of not playing very much. Midfielders Some new faces in midfield. I´m looking forward to seeing Bardghji live up to his potential. Braunoder brings more quality alongside Alena and Endo in CM. Ulrich continues to develop nicely. I guess Illaramendi and Sontheimer will play more often for VfB Stuttgart II as I have registerd them to play there as well. Kovalenko had a nice last season so he gets his chance again. Coulibaly looks like he has stalled in his development and we will watch him closely. Karazor still is a good backup option. Attackers Luis Muriel joins Elis and Botheim in our attack. Milosevic has been relegated to play for VfB Stuttgart II to help his development. THE PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES Wonderful resuilts, especially our defense looks better now. THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW It´s the new Champions League format and here are our opponents. Aude saved us in the last minute! Union Berlin vs VfB Stuttgart Another brace by Muriel. But there will be games when we won´t be able to outscore our opponent. VfB Stuttgart vs Fortuna Dusseldorf A comfortable win for once, with Muriel scoring again. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE I can´t believe my eyes. This cannot last much longer. Good start for him as well. Dinamo Zagreb vs VfB Stuttgart The result is a bit harsh as they were not that bad, but rather unlucky with their finishing. Eintracht Frankfurt vs VfB Stuttgart Kolo Muani is a world class striker and he won this game for Frankfurt. SC Freiburg vs VfB Stuttgart These early goals shocked us and we were not able to come back after that. VfB Stuttgart vs Chelsea FC They are a level above us, this came as no surprise. We scored 2 goals so I am satisfied as a win was never a real option. VfB Stuttgart vs FC Augsburg Maybe the most important win of this season. We avoid getting dragged into a downward spiral. Our academy product Ulrich had a fantastic game. Goals galore again! Ulrich is in hot form at the moment, scoring a brace AGAIN but we still needed extra time to overcome our rivals. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE The inevitable defeats have come but we are still top of the league. CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PHASE Still a lot of games to play but we are ready. THE YOUTH TEAMS VfB Stuttgart II VfB Stuttgart U19 CLUB NEWS This was bound to happen some time. But I was able to calm him down by promising him to play him in the DFB Pokal games. FSV Mainz 05 vs VfB Stuttgart Kovalenko is our most underrated player. He doesn´t look like much but he does the important things. Internazionale vs VfB Stuttgart A fantastic performance by us! In an even game we get away with a nice, deserved draw thanks to Botheim´s brace. VfB Stuttgart vs FC Bayern Munich With our confidence being sky high after the CL game, we managed to beat the mighty Bayern! They have no answers and we deserve it. Bayer Leverkusen vs VfB Stuttgart They have a game-changer in their team with Gloukh. And they have Fabio Silva, too. We were too tired I guess. VfB Stuttgart vs Bodo/Glimt A really nice game from us. The guests from Norway had no chance at all. VfB Stuttgart vs FC Schalke 04 I have no idea what happened there. They totally dominated us. VfL Bochum vs VfB Stuttgart I gave the benchers some playing time and they delivered. We are in the quarter finals where we will have to travel to Dortmund... VfB Stuttgart vs Real Sociedad A disappointing performance. This was a game we were supposed to win. But we failed. VfB Stuttgart vs RB Leipzig We are paying the price for so many games in a short time. With a lot of injuries we are only able to draw against RB Leipzig. VfL Wolfsburg vs VfB Stuttgart No chance for us. They were all over us. It is time for the winter break. VfB Stuttgart vs Borussia Monchengladbach Lady Luck shined on us as our reserve team striker Kastanaras scored the winner in the 6th minute of stoppage time! He will mostly never play again for our first team though. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE Falling down... CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PHASE We could have been in 7th. But Real Sociedad beat us. Muller wanted playtime and so he went on loan to Mainz. Anton wanted a new challenge and so he went to Italy. Elis wanted an unrealistic contract and so he went to Gladbach. We had to sign a new backup keeper and in came Ivan Filipovic. Veteran Max Kruse was signed to help the VfB Stuttgart II team in the promotion fight. RESULTS A mixed bag again. VfB Stuttgart vs Werder Bremen Finally a convincing game again! Roony was fit to play again and it showed. TSG Hoffenheim vs VfB Stuttgart We lose to our rivals again. Even more bitter, as it was avoidable. But we just couldn´t get our shots on target this time. FC Barcelona vs VfB Stuttgart The packed Camp Nou was too much for some of our players. So we were an easy target and were dismantled completely with Lewa scoring a hattrick. VfB Stuttgart vs 1.FC Koln From Boys to Men in 2 games! After our captain was injured after 2 minutes, we nevertheless went into an early, comfortable lead. But Koln equalized and it took a real working man´s effort to force our winner in the last minute. Braunoder lead by example and showed what a good leader he can be if he wants to. VfB Stuttgart vs FC Porto We never stopped fighting for our last chance in the Champions League and were rewarded with the equalizer in the 94th minute. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE We were able to stabilize ourselves a bit. CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PHASE We finished 21st which means we qualified for the playoffs! We will play against: Spoiler Laaaaaaaaaame! We expect to play against big EUROPEAN teams when we play Champions League! THE YOUTH TEAMS VfB Stuttgart II VfB Stuttgart U19 UEFA YOUTH LEAGUE Our U19s qualified for the next round and will play Shakhtar Donezk U19s there. CLUB NEWS Three of our players. That´s like... Borussia Dortmund vs VfB Stuttgart No chance. And then we get a red card on top. We are out of the cup. VfB Stuttgart vs Union Berlin We went into a 3-0 lead and shifted down one gear after that. VfB Stuttgart vs Eintracht Frankfurt European Cup should be about playing European teams, not domestic ones, right? At least we secure a nice 2-0 first leg win. Topple that, Eintracht! Fortuna Dusseldorf vs VfB Stuttgart They thought they had rescued a late draw but then Kovalenko struck again, the man for the important goals. Eintrach Frankfurt vs VfB Stuttgart I hate the European Cup! It is so cruel! A goal in stoppage time helped them through after we fought a heroic battle against their constant attacks. (I guess it was deserved in the end...) VfB Stuttgart vs Eintracht Frankfurt 3 days later we play them AGAIN. And we win AGAIN. 2 wins in 3 games and we still went out in the Champions League. But in the Bundesliga it is looking good again. Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt Hello Again, Part Two: We record a surprise win against a Dortmund team that fielded several bench players. They maybe underestimated us. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE A little gap has opened to 5th place. THE YOUTH TEAMS VfB Stuttgart II VfB Stuttgart U19 UEFA YOUTH LEAGUE Our U19s made it to the quarter finals. VfB Stuttgart vs SC Freiburg A hard-fought derby and we prevailed. FC Augsburg vs VfB Stuttgart The game was over after 23 minutes, and we got an unnecessary red card. VfB Stuttgart vs FSV Mainz 05 This was nice. A world class show by Roony and Mainz were sinking without a trace. FC Bayern Munich vs VfB Stuttgart Ok, this one was a little bit lucky but we kept fighting, even after the red card and got the equalizer in the last minute. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE Suddenly we are contenders for the title again. THE YOUTH TEAMS VfB Stuttgart II VfB Stuttgart U19 THE UEFA YOUTH LEAGUE I am proud of the boys. Great showings in Europe! THE YOUTH INTAKE Another nice intake. And another world class GK prospect. Hein, Schmidt, Schneider, Ozbey and Kaba were signed right away for our U19s. VfB Stuttgart vs Hertha BSC Berlin Muriel on fire once more! Again, we were totally efficient. RB Leipzig vs VfB Stuttgart This is what happens when you don´t take your chances upfront. And that scoreline was fully deserved as our defense once again was in shambles. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a title race. If we can´t beat Wolfsburg at home, we don´t deserve to win it. Borussia Monchengladbach vs VfB Stuttgart We finish the season with another draw. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE Bayern again of course. In the end it was a great season. The dispappointment of drawing our last 2 matches soon made way for the excitement about finishing 3rd and qualifying for the Champions League again. Our new signing Luis Muriel went on the win the Golden Boot, Player of the year, and our Youngster Matthias Braunoder won the Newcomer of the year award. Laurin Ulrich topped the Assists chart. We really cannot complain. And we won´t. Carambau Posted April 4, 2023 Author Share Posted April 4, 2023 (edited) FEARLESS AND FAITHFUL 2024/25 Season Summery Definitely our signing of the season: Luis Muriel. People may have wondered what why we signed a 32 year old past-it striker but he proved all of them wrong, scoring 35 goals and winning the Player of the Year and the Topscorer award. Young midfielder Matthias Braunoder immediately fit into the team and also scored 13 goals and assisting at 7. Young Ronny was a revelation on the right wing and he continues to get better, scoring and setting up 21 goals in the process. Youngster Laurin Ulrich made his way into the first team on the left wing and ended up becoming the Bundesliga Assists king of the season. Veteran Veldman did his job. Dennis Seimen continued his rise and he even attracted interest from Man Utd now. It is going to be a struggle to keep him here. Quite some players will have to leave and there will be some prominent names among them. We scored the most goals (90) in the League, but also conceded 59! I guess this just comes with our tactics. THE YOUTH TEAMS VfB Stuttgart II missed out on promotion by ONE single point behind Hoffenheim II. They look competetive though and will get some new players from our U19s so there is hope they can do it next season! VfB Stuttgart U19 finished 2nd behind Bayern U19s but the gap was 11 points. In the DFB Pokal der Junioren they again went out in the quarter finals against Hoffenheim U19s and in the UEFA Youth League they reached the 2nd knockout round where they lost to Benfica U19s. A great european showing by the lads! THE EUROPEAN CUP WINNERS Champions League In an All-English final Arsenal beat Aston Villa after penalties. Europa League Another All-English final. You are definitely challenging for the title but Bayern has that extra quality in its reserves that give it those extra 2 points to win the league yet again.... Great work with your players winning those awards. The long-time captain was declining in his ability and was very injury-prone so we let the contract run out. Genki had been out on loan the last season and was not a factor anymore for our team. The same can be said for Ito, Millot, Illaramendi and Sontheimer. I regret not giving young talent Azevedo a contract as he turned out to be a decent player in the second half of the season when he had to cover for Aude. When I changed my mind, he had already signed for Hertha. Keeper Muller will go on loan again as he has no chance anymore. You may wonder who Breno Bidon is: He is a talented central midfielder but we agreed to loan him back for the season to his original club. Same goes for - yes you read it correctly - Matija Popovic! The talented striker from our first season is back! And this time we signed him for good! Only thing is he will arrive NEXT season. We needed more experience for the team so we signed veteran skipper Marten de Roon on a free transfer. He has all the attributes to lead from midfield. Dino Guldener is a great Right Back talent we snapped up from Wolfsburg. He got his price but I think he will be worth it. Florian Kastenmaier will just be another backup keeper. Ferran Jutgla can play on the wings and in attack. Matias Vina provides backup for the Left Back position. THE TEAM ANALYSIS Goalkeepers No questions here. Guldener should replace Veltman on the right. Apart from that, don´t expect any big changes. Midfielders De Roon is a welcome experienced player here and will have his place. Samuele di Benedetto joins from our second team, he is an Academy Product and has lots of potential. Now he gets his chance in the first team. No other changes here. Attackers More options with Jutgla here. I don´t expect Luis Muriel to repeat last seasons heroics. THE PRE-SEASON FRIENDLIES A mixed bag again. We manage to draw against @SixPointer´s SV Ried THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW It starts with 2 rather "easy" games but after that we get the full treatment. CLUB NEWS We had to promise him that. Hallescher FC vs VfB Stuttgart They put up a nice fight but we go through and will face Fortuna Dusseldorf at home in the next round. FC Bayern Munich vs VfB Stuttgart Well what a nice start to the season - away at Bayern! Who creates those schedules? VfB Stuttgart vs TSG Hoffenheim Quite a nice reaction! The red card helped a lot of course. Borussia Monchengladbach vs VfB Stuttgart The scoreline does not represent the game but we don´t care. VfB Stuttgart vs Hertha BSC Berlin Two goals in stoppage time make the game look easier than it was. VfB Stuttgart vs US Sassuolo A great start into the Champions League League Phase! We were absolutely efficient again and Seimen made some fantastic saves. VfB Stuttgart vs 1.FC Koln We trashed them. Could have been 2 digits. Bayer Leverkusen vs VfB Stuttgart We had a lot of injured players to be honest but this should not be an excuse. Back to our scoring ways. Again, it was the efficiency that decided that match. And Dennis Seimen. THE BUNDESLIGA TABLE We are lurking. THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PHASE Off to a perfect start. But the big teams are coming.
