When dribbling, are weak foot properties relevant?

Recommended Posts

Yes. A player with a weaker wrong foot will be more likely to rely on their strong foot for dribbles and tricks, making their movement more predictable as well as more likely to take a bad touch with their weaker foot.

This is most obvious when you've got a player with a very weak foot and relevant PPMs and a capable defender set to show them onto their weaker foot, because they'll be much more likely to just not attempt the dribble and turn and pass backwards instead (or crab across the pitch in a useless direction because that's the only way their strong foot will let them run with it

so you do think it is worth training weaker foot for strong dribblers?

Weaker foot training is useful for their all round game, not just their dribbling! (with the caveat the strength of the weaker foot takes up a lot of ability points, so if a player is close to his potential it might not have the effect you hope for)

How useful a better weaker foot is is depends on the type of dribbler you want them to be. If they're a fast dribbler who knocks the ball past their opponent it might not be worth bothering. If they're a fullback that's usually running into space out wide it might not be worth bothering. If they're someone you expect to run at opponents in tight spaces, a better weaker foot makes a huge difference, not just to the dribble but the passes and shots they might be able to attempt. But training only improves it a little bit.

so basically strikers it is probably worth it but some kind of ball carrying midfielder or wing back not so much?
