Issues with setting up a MLS vs European Club Cup

I noticed two issues when creating a "The Transatlantic Cup" on FM22 editor. 

The way I have done this is that I have chosen the top 8 teams in the MLS division and the winners of the English, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Portuguese, Dutch and Scottish leagues and put them in a knockout-style tournament. I have simulated this 4 times and noticed two issues:

1) The chosen 8 teams from the MLS seem random. It does not seem to be clear how the 8 teams from the MLS are chosen, it does not seem to always pick the top 4 of the West and East conferences or the top 8 of the shield cup. I can not seem to understand why this is the case. I tried to look through advanced rules but it is a bit of a minefield and I can not find where to alter how these teams are chosen.

2) The seeding does not work. The way I wanted the first knockout stage to go is to have a MLS team play against a European team. I did this by setting the MLS seeding to 0 and the others to 1. Yet every year, there are always 2 USA teams playing against each other in the first round. Not sure why this is.

I have attached this to the forum. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me what I am doing wrong.

I make some edits to the file I use the option to keep the same nation apart and MLS in the first stage is clashing European teams.
