rinso
https://www.holiday-weather.com/riyadh/averages/january/ maybe it's not so "freak" .. just cos its a desert country does not mean it doesnt get cold in winter.. starbugg
The temperature during winter in Riyadh (the venue?) can often drop to 0. Other cities can get colder often getting snow. https://destinationksa.com/the-8-coldest-cities-in-saudi-arabia-in-winter/ Edited July 12, 2023 by starbugg Link added
Draakon
Wikipedia claims that record low temperature in Riyadh has been -5,4C in January. So, technically not impossible, but I suspect that dropping below zero is rather rare there. Also, lowest temperatures are usually measured at night (early morning) between 4AM and 6AM. Therefore it's even more unusual to experience such low temperatures during the match if it is played in daylight. Perhaps possible if it's played later after sunset, but I suspect that -3C during a football match should still count as freak weather.
