Palacios extends his contract!

image.png.5b1343f8ec1f119305d66ac31c2d5a8a.png

He's by far our best player in the squad, so this is a huge deal for us. We still have a few contracts to go though. Baldursson wants away and I made the stupid decision to promise him he could go if someone bid 1.7M. Tedic up front was signed on a free and I forgot I promised to get a fellow countryman in, and he wants to go as well. Baldursson is our best central midfielder, but we'll easily cope with losing him, so I might end up selling him anyways. Tedic will be missed, so we're gonna have to find a new striker or two. We've got youngsters coming in, but I'd rather lend them out to get some gametime and bigger progress.

I decided it was for the best to let him leave, as we have plenty of players in central midfield, and I want more consistency which we're not gonna get with him, as he'll be annoyed until he signs a bosman. We bought him for 500K, so a small loss, however we have 30% of profit from next sale, so I'm hoping his value will explode in Brazil.

WE WIN!!!

image.thumb.png.82fc0040b23cc91860d702f53a27fd88.png

fantastic performance against Porto at home, great comeback and a relief when carraro scored the third goal! This means we actually have a chance of getting third place. We only just ahve to get a result against Milan...

image.png.aefbd70f84b12e01a6aad06899eb2da3.png

Still. This is wonderful. We've done well this season and a win is much more than I'd expected in this group.

The difference one day makes!

image.thumb.png.7f3dc301e8d6dcdac6ffe65b2a408569.png

This Is who's available to us on the transfer list on November 30th

image.thumb.png.03ea7d6134ffdda95992578eb024fe83.png

And here we are on the 1st of december.

Christmas is coming and I'll be looking into potential replacements up front and in defence. So far none of the players available seem like good options.

Heartbreaking scenes:

image.thumb.png.dfe2e5fdc8cdc06aab8b53bfe904a4ba.png

We FM'ed them big time and got a fantastic result in italy, only to find out Porto had beaten Atletico Madrid, securing their third position. Them feels though!

image.png.21aa6b7daebc64e4770b911dcd3e1525.png

With that our european campaign is over for this season and we'll be working our way through to the next qualification. We have a transfer window coming up, and I'm looking into potential replacements in the squad but so far, we'll just sit it out and see who turns up on the transfer list.

I believe the penalties are a reputation thing. Clubs with higher reputation get penalties way more often. I also noticed in the league. As Folgore I got a lot of penalties. It look like the match engine can not comprehend the big difference. One season I had like 30 penalties in the Sanmarinese competition, that is mental

Nothing to do directly with reputation in the ME, just that big clubs are spending more time in the opposition box, hence the higher probability of a penalty occuring.

My defenders are also rather slow and when they're set up against world class strikers they will be making mistakes, so I've spent a lot of my budget on new central defenders come summer:

I'm pretty excited about Okoli. He should be able to tank most of the forwards coming at us.

We're once again in the market for a new keeper:

image.png.10eac6181b753323adad6730c1ad689e.png

Linde will be 32 at the start of the next season and with a record fee incoming, I thought we should be able to replace him decently with a bosman player, and use this money on new talents. I'm having a dance on left two left feet with my board at the moment as they won't give me a higher transfer budget because we're losing money every month, even though we're up 12M euro this season.

Our loan farm:

image.png.29046447395349ea6caeb33356ec140d.png

I've gone out and spent my budget on younger players every season and they're finally joining the club. We don't have space for all of them in our sqaud and their progress is better administered elsewhere. In three seasons time we should be able to go through the Champions League group stages if these players continue to grow prosperous. We've got many more coming in in the future..

Fans' player of the season is actually one of our austrian talents who didn't make a loan in august. As we had trouble with Baldursson in central midfield I put Palacios in central midfield and started playing Beuing, who has been doing very well in San Marino this season. Don't think he's ready for Europe yet.

Champions league Qualification: Champions path 1st round

image.thumb.png.d634e9a6a9b3bcc83d715b422a25d552.png

We're up against the montenigrin champions from BUducnost Podgorica and are a much better side than them. In January we got in striking talent Christophe Martin who has been leading our scoring charts ever since and he's continuing to perform. I was thinking of lending him out, but am going for the homegrown sign on this guy:

image.thumb.png.0a46bd90e0ab8722cf905c3e21b29abd.png

He could easily become a legend at this club.

Anyways. The qualification is not that entertaining yet as we are going through some of the smaller teams and have risen to the extend where we'll be guaranteed at least some kind of european group stages. It has seemed certain ever since we managed to get conference league in the first season. The winner of the first round is up again TNS from Wales or HJK from Finland. They drew 2-2 in the first match.

Succes in Finland:

image.thumb.png.36591c2fed543dd02892c25239cf019c.png

Ultimately I wasn't that worried before this match. We've got a capable squad against them. In this match we got our new goalkeeper Finn Dahmen between the sticks. He's okay, but Linde was better. Amongst all the players who were unattached or transfer listed, Dahmen was the best option for now. And he did well.

image.thumb.png.c0998582efe5132bd789c8eddb2601be.png

Solid option for now.

Another win, though not as big, but an important win for the national coefficient. And with progression from the second round we've got at least conference league.

Next up we have croatian champions Osijek.

image.png.4b4b36032f70aaf4bc944e47c69136b5.png

The best team we're up against so far in this qualification. Overall we should be better than them. Lets hope it shows.

The search for a new Palacios:

After selling Matias Palacios we've been left with an okay midfield, as we still have Dewsbury-Hall, but It's become quite clear we need another starting midfielder, and that's when suddenly this happened:

image.thumb.png.a4cc61d383c65a635731358240f2e14e.png

Tommy Doyle is available

image.thumb.png.91209930221f2bbe716531b55ad9c785.png

image.thumb.png.c7199e7417aaf686b22def36f3201538.png

We have lots of money from Palacios, and the loan farm will continously bring in money that will pay off the transfer, so:

image.thumb.png.a2139fc205b17a7486f7d09012d4b3b0.png

I'm making sure that most of our payments will fall if he stays here for long, as he only has a two year contract offered for now. If he extends his contract, we'll be happy to pay the rest.

New left back:

image.thumb.png.6bc1dc7306c460fb60207e1182b14d98.png

Available on a free transfer, and much better player than our former best left back Serrano. Serrano has been here for four seasons and has played a huge part of the progress that has been made at the club, but ultimately he has come short now that we all of a sudden are campaigning for champions league group stages.

That was tense!

image.thumb.png.fbbbcab84e532668e001d750f9ab8916.png

But we're through to the playoffs. We had a lot of suspensions for this match, and then Mena gets a red card. He's 18 years old and advocating for getting sent out on loan.

We're up against Slovan Bratislava in the next round. Kind of a relief. I don't know how they managed to beat Basel, who in my opinion has a much stronger squad.

We have a big chance of going into the Champions League once again.

Smells like!

image.thumb.png.97bb72468d9b448e57e13b5c9b8cbb95.png

A few suspensions once more, and we're not able to register new players for the playoffs, so we're waiting for Olaza and Doyle to come join us in the group stages. It looks like Champions League once again, unless something goes horribly wrong.

Another big name incoming!

image.png.7be749b344efeca9af3843e5895d265a.png

image.png.d24c1ed1ffa62aefabc0a41af7fc7bdc.png

After seeing our Champions League group I grew a little desperate and entered the race for Joao Pedro. He was available at 15.5M (just like Doyle), so we stroke a deal and got ourselves an upgrade on the left wing:

image.thumb.png.efbcab52b89bc7db718fd85f3b7a67fc.png

He's a talented player that fits in well with our system, and with him in the squad our midfield is starting to look competible against most teams, and one that will be able to cause an upset against some of the bigger ones.

image.thumb.png.22070ba5e246707ac3662b42eab2a910.png

I had been thinking of using Fessler this season, but it was just too tempting to get Joao Pedro in.

Players out on loan:

image.png.dbfe347cc79258332ca86505d36bea0e.png

We actually could have used some of these players. We're in the market for a new right back and right winger. Both Hoogma and Jevremovic could be doing a decent job at the club right now, but we're also paid 2M euro for lending them out this season, and they're not that much better than Francis and Yade who have been playing with us for longer.

Arsenal away

image.thumb.png.1d74ad3fce42e6ffb2cf161cfd590d79.png

And we're off to a bad start. This was expected. Arsenal played with almost all of their best players, and I should be thinking of playing some of these matches with just one striker and a defensive midfielder instead. We were dominated in midfield in this one.

Draw at home

image.thumb.png.0763ea69e75f8eef0f1d09afe1ac2dec.png

This is a match we should be winning if we had any hopes oof going into the Europa League, but it doesn't seem to be. We're conceding a lot of cards even though I have stay on feet activated and play with a more cautious style. They're just better than us almost everywhere on the pitch. We have a nice midfield, but it's still not strong enough to truly dominate which makes sense as we're up against third place in france from last season. I think we have the quality to be a top Serie B team, and bottom Serie A team fighting against relegation right now. We've come a long way, but are up against dominant forces in europe. A draw is almost like a win especially when you look at the match stats. We'll take it.

We're into the Europa League!

image.thumb.png.e547975a1766c069f7b4a59cc34a5b33.png

We were dominated by Arsenal and deservedly lost. It is still a remarkable match though. We weren't given any cards at all. Don't think I've seen that in any of our european matches so far.

Luckily Real Madrid finished Marseille off, and sent us through via third place.

image.thumb.png.7c3bdba49f02677175a579ac66aac768.png

This is a big result for us, and makes our january transfer window a bit more exciting as we have three replacements we can make. We have lots of positions that can be enhanced, but are waiting to see what becomes available to us on the transfer list. I would very much like a new right back, right winger, central defender and possibly even a striker (though it is not the most important position to find replacements).

Announce Jørgensen!

image.thumb.png.2de7e5b095dbe861858d350aadf50491.png

We're not actually in for another Central Midfielder, but the option became available and he is an upgrade on Dewsbury-Hall, or we might retrain him as a right back. I haven't yet decided on that last one. Eitherway I couldn't resist buying him as he will be a huge upgrade in whatever way I tend to use him, and there arent many other good options available to us right now.
