Squaring the ball when through on goal

I'm in my fourth season and I'm yet to recall a single instance of a player through on goal from a tightish angle, and they square it to the player who would have an open goal.

I'm playing in the Championship so this isn't really down to player vision, teamwork and ability. Even at the level of football I play on Saturdays, that would be an obvious decision to attempt a square pass to my better placed teammate. 

Are other people having a similar experience? 

(FWIW I play most often with a short passing style, and 'work ball into box' instruction)

This is an on-and-off problem in FM, with some versions being worse than others. FM23 isn't great but nowhere near as bad as say, FM16, where wide players would run parallel to the byline and cannon it at the near post from a zero-degree angle. 

Generally, though, it's a sequence of play that's very hard to recreate consistently.

They do happen yes, I saw one just last night, they don't happen loads though 

I think these are more on the player than the tactic, things like high Team Work and the Looks for a pass.... trait can encourage it
