Carambau
For The Beauty Of The Game South African Globetrotter Manager Joe Baxter once again has found a new home. This time it is Swiss 2nd division side FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy. And as always the aim is to play beautiful football. Carambau
The Squad 2022/23 This is definitely a pretty decent team. We might need another capable central defender and another good winger but overall we look quite competitive for this season. Our right back Gassama is one of the best players and so are striker Abi and central midfielder Akichi. Tsoungui looks like our most promising youngster here. The Tactics We will try to play an attacking game. Transfers A pity. But at least we were able to terminate the contract of a high earner who was complaining for not being registered for the season. Good riddance. We don´t need no rotten apples to conterminate others. Season Preview and Board Expectations Three of our players are up there with the best. Let´s hope they can deliver. We should be able to do just that. Pre-Season Friendlies Not the best pre-season but we will see. Edited September 2, 2023 by Carambau
Carambau
July-August 2022 An ok start to the new season. We showed that we are no pushovers. The Matches Clinical finishing led this this result. We converted almost every second shot on goal and our poor opponents had no answers to that. Our city rivals really rode their luck in this game! Then they got a controversial penalty and scored 2 late goals to win a game that deserved no winner. A goal in the 97th minute saved us. It did not help that Abi was injured early in the game. A fine and convincing victory against harmless Bellinzona. And we did it without the injured Abi. Again a very balanced game with no points for us in the end. We thought the game was over after Danho scored his second goal but Wil gave us a late scare which fortunately stayed only a scare. Abi scored in his first game back in the first team against amateur side Solothurn. A confident performance from us. We will play Super League team Winterthur in the next round. A good away win for us! Abi in deadly form in front of goal once more. 2nd place. Should we already think of promotion? I think not. Let´s take a game at a time and we will see what happens. Carambau
September 2022 Goals, Goals, Goals, a bit of Giant Killing, but also 2 defeats. The Matches We were dominating again. They not even had one shot on target. Abi on fire! Our striker defeated Schaffhausen all alone with his FIVE goals! We defeated the Super League team! The red card surely helped but we were already in the lead before that happened. Next opponent will be an amateur side again. The early lead did us no good. They came back and won. Maybe we celebrated the big cup win too much. A rather weak performance against our rivals looked like a boring draw and then they got awarded a penalty. Thun are running away but we remain in second place. Abi is the best player in the league right now. Edited August 29, 2023 by Carambau
Carambau
October 2022 Our form is improving. No defeats this month. The Matches We were leading 2-0 and then they equalized 2 minutes from time. And then they got awarded a penalty. Which they missed. Should we be happy or sad? We really needed that win. And it was easier than expected. The game against the league leaders Thun sees us run away with the win rather luckily. I don´t care, a win is a win. We are confident again. Although Abi ´s goal drought worries me a bit. Thun have run out of steam a bit thanks to us. But we see our rivals emerge as our main contenders for second place. Abi has not scored for a month now. Carambau
November 2022 The month started badly, but we went on to concede zero goals from then on. The Matches Promotion rivals Yverdon gave us a hard time, scoring the winner one minute from the end. An early brace within 2 minutes secured our win. This was way harder than expected! We fielded a lot of bench players but I still was expecting to go through more smoothly. It´s Young Boys now in the quarter finals. At home. The team from Liechtenstein was no match and we secured some easy 3 points. Poor Schaffhausen! Not only are they rock bottom of the table, we also injured THREE of their players! Please accept our apologies! 2nd place and a good margin to Wil. We are heading into the winter/world cup break now, which will last 2 months like @Jogo Bonitosaid. See you at the end of January 2023 Edited September 1, 2023 by Carambau
Carambau
January 2023 Decent winter break friendlies and then we started perfectly into the year. The Match Lausanne is red and white! A hat trick by Danho seals the fate of our rivals. Danho keeps hunting Abi. Nice to have 2 efficient strikers. Carambau
February 2023 We knew our Cup run had to end some day. The Matches A game which we should have won but sometimes the ball just says no. A great game for the fans. And in the end we won. Maybe our most important win of the season. Danho continues to score. A pity. But in the end their experience shone through. Bamba gave us hope but then Rrudhani scored twice. I unfortunately forgot to take a screenshot of the February table... Edited September 1, 2023 by Carambau
Carambau
March 2023 And suddenly the downward spiral set in. The Matches A game for the fans. But we would have liked a win more. We thought we could walk away with a draw but they punished us one minute from time. We were leading 2-1 for the most of the game and then something in our game broke and they scored 3 goals. If someone told me in January that we´d lose to bottom Schaffhausen this season I would have laughed like a madman. Now its them who are laughing. I unfortunately forgot to take a screenshot of the March table again... The Youth Intake There are some great talents in our academy this year. Carambau
April 2023 Football is crazy. I have no idea why we won all those games in april after our rock bottom performances last month! The Matches Abi and Danho started to function again. A nice derby win again and I think we needed a hard game like this. Confident performance from us, with our newly found confidence. All the action happened right at the end. And we prevailed this time. Look at that! We are top of the league. But Thun has a game in hand... 4 games to go for us! Carambau
May 2023 These results lead to our promotion in the end. The Matches The once mighty Thun get slaughtered by us once more. Another 5-1 win. Yverdon made it easy for us. And with that result we secure automatic promotion! The lads were still tired after celebrating the promotion I guess. We won the league and achieved direct promotion. This comes quite unexpected. Carambau
June 2023 That was a great season! Mostly unexpected, we were surprisingly promoted as the winner of the league. Charles Abi scored 35 goals, making him our player of the season. Closely followed by Romain Baynard, who schemed our game from midfield. Florian Danho also had a convincing season, scoring 22 goals. Edmond Akichi was our anchor man and steered us well to promotion, but sadly we could not afford to extend his contract due to financial limits. Same goes for our big talent Marc Fred Tsoungui and some other players who helped us secure promotion. However, there are quite some talents in our reserve and youth teams which we will promote to the first team for next season. It is going to be a struggle thats for sure. We were deep in the red (3M) during the season, but now promotion brought us enough money to do some business again. Carambau
July Part I 2023 Transfers Some key players from last season left us because our budget did not let us offer them the amount they wanted. A pity, surely, but also a chance for new players to step up. Well, we needed players in almost every department and we signed those players. Ardin Dallku and Jeremy Fasano are central defenders. The former is a proven veteran in diverse eastern european leagues, the latter being a great talent to get match practice here as he is loaned from Grasshopper. Niko Radujkovic has also arrived on load, as backup for LB Linus Obexer. Rafa Salama and Robin Huser both play in central midfield, the area where we were lacking the most and they should be able to fill that gap convincingly. Thilo Topken is a big man and we needed a big man up front. Three players joined us from our reserve team: Keepers Alberto Carlos and Chui Veng On and Winger/Striker Adonai Bandu. The Squad 2023/24 We did the best we could with the limited means we had on the transfer market. I hope this team can cope with the standards of the Raiffeisen Super League. We now got a purely Kosovar central defense for our first team and were able to add some more native Swiss players to the team as well. Season Preview and Board Expectations Well... we are not exactly title favorites. The board´s expectations are managable. Pre-Season Friendlies Some crazy results there. You can´t say we have no firing power! Edited September 8, 2023 by Carambau
Carambau
July Part II 2023 The best start. The Match We could not have hoped for a better start. Abi (who else?) gave us an early lead and before they knew what was happening they were 2-0 down. The scare of their goal after one hour was only short-lived as Obexer sealed our win 9 minutes later to give us the first win in the Swiss Top Division. A dream start for us. I know it´s only one game but why not celebrate it a bit? The News We signed former german national teamer Arne Friedrich as our new DOF. Carambau
August 2023 Reality kicks in. The Matches A real goal bonanza! We came back from the dead trailing 0-3 and equalized in the 81st minute. Then we were lucky in the end as they missed a penalty. A tight game. In the end experience won them the game. We played the benchers in the cup game against the amateur team and it was an easy win for us. A hard fought game with many shots from outside the box saw us lose unluckily in the end. This game was over after 12 minutes already. We sit in 9th place. But we have to start winning some games now. Carambau
September 2023 The tides have turned (slightly). The Matches Our fellow promoted team Thun gets battered like back then in the 2nd division. I don´t know if we are that good or Winterthur are just that bad. Again, we fielded some benchers in the cup game against the amateur team and again it was an easy win for us. They were in control the whole time. We climbed to 7th place. And Abi leads the scoring chart again. Edited September 3, 2023 by Carambau
Carambau
October 2023 A very vital win at the end of the month The Matches A good game from us. It could have easily have ended in a draw. We are entertainers! And we are so busy entertaining that we enjoy throwing away a 3-1 lead. Again, we play a good game but end up with no points. Finally, a much needed win! And we managed it with 10 men. A good fight! We seem quite safe from the relegation zone. For now. Carambau
November 2023 Lots of goals again and a great win against Grasshopper. The Matches I think Thun fans must really hate us by now. No Chance. We still need to learn a lot. What a **** game! First, there was the missed penalty by Abi, then we equalized in the last minute just for them to score the winner one minute later. After the red card and them leading 1-0 no one gave a crap about us. But then somehow a miracle happened and we won in stoppage time. I don´t know how though. 17 points in 15 games. Fine by me. Jogo Bonito
A mix of good and bad results, but that's to be expected and overall you're doing very well averaging more than one point per game. Carambau
December 2023 Meh... the downward spiral spins again. The Matches A dominant win against weak opposition. We thought we had won it but they answered right away. Damn. Kyeremateng was destroying us, but Abi came to the rescue again. Well, we know what late goals are. And I love it! Carambau
February 2024 Good: We won 2 times. Bad: We lost 1-5 at home. The Matches Brahimi won the game for them. A very convincing performance by us. We were never in danger of losing this game. I guess we got FM´ed in this game... but what can you do. Damn! We were so close to the next round but then they deservedly beat us after penalties. A disgraceful performance in front of our own fans. We got booed out of the stadium afterwards. And rightly so! And then we reconcile with our fans by winning the next game with a brace by Danho. 30 points should be enough to not get relegated. I hope. Carambau
May 2024 We showed up when it mattered most. The Matches We shared the points in a good game. This wasn´t expected, but so we enjoyed the win even more. We found it tough, so many games in a short time. Thun are always reliable. Winterthur will play the relegation playoffs against Neuchatel then. In the end it was a 10 point gap to the relegation zone. We can be proud of Abi who became the league topscorer. Sad to see him leave for Bologna for free. Oh, and our rivals got promoted! The Youth Intake Some good talents this year. Carambau
June 2024 The Season Stats We survived our first season in the top flight, thats what counts.Without Abi this would not have been possible. His goals made sure we always were above the line. Backup keeper Nsabata did not get many chances but thats why he was signed as a backup. New central defender Dallku played a vital role alongside Hajrullahu as well as Fasano, coming on as backup. Radujkovic did not exactly shine but his scarce performances were ok. Huser and Salama ruled our central midfield for most of the time and they ruled good. New striker Töpken was a valuable rotation option when key player Bayard who again had a great season would miss out. Okou on the other wing performed well too. Florian Danho was the perfect strike partner for Abi, assisting in many of his goals. Still, we need to upgrade our team. The Finances We again were deep in the red (3M) during the season. Now we got some TV money but it´s too tight to mention. The News We again will have to play in our rivals stadium next season. Now they are in the same division. Let´s see how this will work out... Jogo Bonito
Comfortable in the end, a job well done. Great stats from Abi - quite an achievement to be league top scorer in a relegation-threatened team! it will be interesting to see how he does at Bologna (that was a smart transfer move made by them). So Toaster was a bit of a butter-fingers? Not heard that phrase used for about 20 or 30 years A good youth intake by the look of it too.
