Slightly Damp Shrew
Ok, I've read the sticky through multiple times, and I still can't get it to work. I downloaded Steklo_09. Extracted into the skins folder. My skins folder looks like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/sdshrew/insideskinsfolder.jpg and there aren't duplicate folders (Steklo_09/Steklo_09/Steklo_09.xml etc.) I loaded up FM and was greeted with a white screen with faint options. Here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/sdshrew/Skinnowork.jpg , and once I found the invisible 'preferences' option I get this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/sdshrew/skinnowork2.jpg There was no way of getting to the 'display & sound' option at the side. So I quit out, removed my skins folder, loaded up FM again and it worked ok in the default skin. I then unticked the 'Skin Cache' option, and ticked the 'always reload skin' option. I confirmed, then quit. I put the 'skins' folder back in the right place and loaded FM up again. This time it wouldn't let me skip any of the logos and sponsors as FM loads, and instead of the menu screen just gave me a black screen. So I shut everything down and don't know where to go from here. I can play the game fine if I just remove the skins folder, just can't get a skin to load. Any ideas? Cadijk van Kaarhandel
Skins I think should be in >My Docs > S.I. > Skins Looks like you have them in the wrong place?
Slightly Damp Shrew
I should have stated, the problem occurs with all skins (or at least the 3 that I've tried). And I've downloaded the game via Steam, so that's why the location will be a bit different.
radestock
Nope. Nothing to do with Steam, you've just misread the sticky. You're putting the skin in the install location not the user data folder (which is always in your documents area and always the same regardless of how you install). You need to create your skins folder in one of the following locations: Win Vista: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\ Win 2000/XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\ Win 98/ME: C:\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\
