Stuniverse Posted 8 hours ago Author Share Posted 8 hours ago Wednesday 25th February 2037 Viking (Norway) v Atletico Madrid (Spain) UEFA Champions League Rd of 16 Playoff Second Leg (Atletico lead 3-1) -- -- -- I thought Atletico Madrid and ourselves were very well matched. In the first leg at Estadio Metropolitano I felt we didn't get the rub of the green and deserved more. Tonight, at our own SR-Bank Arena, I felt we had the upper hand, more than had the upper hand, but we couldn't find a way past Joel Álvez in Atletico's goal. The first half was pretty even, although we created the better chances. We made two changes during the break and switched to an Attacking mentality. We were better after the break but couldn't score. On 58 minutes we lost our goalkeeper Hans Jørgen Solberg with a wrist injury. We also changed our shape to make us more attacking. On 81 minutes we went even more attacking. We created chances but it wasn't to be tonight. Sometimes you don't get what you deserve over 90 minutes and that was the case tonight. We didn't deserve to lose on the night, so Atletico Madrid's 90+4th minute breakaway goal, when we were chasing the game, was particularly harsh. We performed very well in the Champions League League Path but, once again, the Round of 16 Playoff proved a step too far for us. -- Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
