Stuniverse
Sunday 24th October 2027 Hødd (4th) v Alta (16th) OBOS-ligaen -- -- Coming into this encounter, Alta hadn't won any of their last 26 matches so we knew what to expect and we were spot on; Alta sat back, defended in numbers, and looked to hit us on the counter-attack. We created chance after chance after chance. Shots were blocked, we hit the bar, and William Lykke made a string of fine saves to keep them in it. At the break we made some changes. We went positive, we looked to Work Ball Into Box. The second half was the same, we created chance after chance but couldn't breakthrough. And then, on a rare attack, Alta launched a free-kick into a crowded penalty area. The referee blew and pointed to the spot, I still have no idea what for and, just like that, we were a goal down. We had nothing to lose at this point. We went for it. We went attacking. We told the full-backs to attack as if they were wing-backs. And it worked thanks to the brothers Hauge. Jens Petter headed us level, Runar put us ahead from the penalty spot. Another soft penalty but this time I wasn't complaining. We went back to our normal system then and added a third through Markus Karlsbakk. In the end, a very satisfying win... but we made hard work of it. Stuniverse
Sunday 31st October 2027 Jerv (4th) v Hødd (3rd) OBOS-ligaen -- Hødd make one change - Jens Petter Hauge comes in for Jostein Ekeland. -- I'm so unbelievably proud of all the Hødd players today. Their families, friends and the Hødd supporters should be justifiably proud of them as well. This group of players have been fantastic all season, they've worked so hard on the training ground and been excellent on the pitch. I hope they realise what they've achieved this season. Jerv are a bogey-team for us so to win here, in their J. J. Ugland Stadion, to clinch promotion to Eliteserien really is a dream come true. I don't think the staunchest Jerv supporter could argue that Hødd weren't the better team today. Jerv had some moments, Julian Faye Lund produced some great saves to keep them out, but I thought my players, our players, were sensational out there today. We deserved this win. The only downside is we lost three players to injury today and the injury to Andreas Dybevik looks serious I'm afraid. It's his Achilles and it didn't look great. So this one's for Andreas. We did it. We finally beat Jerv when it mattered, @I have nothing to say - --

Stuniverse
Sunday 7th November 2027 Hødd (1st) v Hamarkameratene (12th) OBOS-ligaen -- -- -- What an amazing feeling, I honestly cannot put it into words. The Season Preview didn't have us top six but we always thought we could build on last season's playoff semi final and do better this campaign. Which we did. And then some. Six games ago, when Åsane blew us away by inflicting a 3-0 defeat on us it started to look like any chances of automatic promotion were slipping away... so the players have done magnificently to bounce back from that crushing defeat with five wins on the spin to clinch promotion last week and the title this. Over 1,700 Hødd supporters in Høddvoll today and the place was rocking. The atmosphere was electric, I've not known anything like it in my time as a football manager. It's not often as manager that you can sit back and enjoy a game of football but I was able to do that today after we were 4-0 up inside half an hour. Today was always going to be an emotional day for me. My last managing Hødd before I take up my new challenge. I want to thank the Hødd Board for giving me this opportunity and, pretty much, giving me everything I asked for in my time here. I want to thank the Hødd supporters for welcoming me and supporting me through the rough times and the good. But most of all I want to thank the Hødd players. They have been absolutely magnificent and a pleasure to work with. I know exactly how hard they've worked in training and it makes me so proud seeing the big smiles on their faces as they celebrate being OBOS-ligaen Champions. It's been an honour and a privilege to manage Idrottslaget Hødd. But today shouldn't be about me. It should be about the players, the supporters, and the Board. They deserve this. And, of course, Idrottslaget Hødd. Hødd are OBOS-ligaen Champions. Hødd will be playing in Eliteserien next season. Now enough talking, let's go and celebrate. Blarney
Gratz on the new job, well deserved! Sorry, I was away for a few days and didn't respond to your question. It would have been a tough decision for me. It was a tough decision for me as well because I had a great time at Hodd with a really supportive Board. But Viking are a much bigger club than Hodd so it really was a no-brainer in that respect. I was so pleased Viking agreed to let me finish the season at Hodd because I so wanted to finish on a high and get them promoted. 6 minutes ago, Blarney said: I was sacked once in FM for inquiring about another job I wanted, but in fairness the board did warn me first to stop being happy that I was being considered for other jobs. If they would have stepped up and ever given me what I needed to run the club maybe I wouldn't have. I've been there myself. If you're not careful you can end up making a promise during job interviews not to apply for other jobs. Stuniverse
Episode 64 - 12th November 2027 | Waiting to start with Viking "Stealing Hødd players" -- A few of you have asked if I have any plans to steal players from Hødd. Well, obviously, I wouldn't steal them but there are quite a few players at Hødd, or I worked with at Hødd, that I think could make the step-up to Eliteserien. Obviously there's a lot of caveats here. I don't know what my squad at Viking is like yet, I don't know what budgets the Board will set for next season, I don't know if Hødd would be prepared to sell or to what extent the financial insecurity at Høddvoll (not my fault!) would impact things. And I don't even know if the players would want to sign for Viking and play for me again. Here's the players I think could step-up from OBOS-ligaen. -- Goalkeepers Julian Faye Lund was superb for us this season. Some of his saves were on a different level. I was surprised Bodø/Glimt released him at the end of the 2026 season and even more amazed we were able to sign him. -- Marius Ulla will seem like a strange choice given I didn't register him and he only played for the 2nd Team this season. I like a #1 and a back-up and I consistently had issues with my #2 goalkeeper at Hødd as I could never keep them happy. Marius never once complained about not being registered, about not getting first team playing time, about playing for the 2nd Team. Marius is so professional and a pleasure to work with. He's a decent enough goalkeeper who I'd be happy to have as cover at Viking. -- Defenders Christian Borchgrevink has been consistently good for me and he's a natural leader too. In both my seasons at Hødd, I started the season thinking Christian would be my back-up RB and by the summer break he was always my number one there. -- We had El Hadji Malick Diouf on loan from Tromsø and he's been brilliant all season. -- Midfielders Johan Bakke was one for the future when I bought him to Hødd but a player who I thought could contribute straight away. And he has. Plus Johan scores goals from long-range. -- I tried a few young players from our Academy in OBOS-ligaen this season. Per Christian Nguyen was the only one who didn't look out of place. Plus, and I really like this, he stands up to the senior players and even tells them what to do. He is mature beyond his years. -- Wingers Filip Moller Delaveris was a free agent signing late in the season. I signed him to add depth in attacking areas but, due to injuries, he got his first start very soon after signing and he was that good I couldn't drop him. -- I never saw Jostein Ekeland as a regular starter but he's got plenty of playing time this season, in different positions, and has contributed goals and assists. -- I'm still astonished that we were able to sign Jens Petter Hauge on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of last season. Maybe having his brother Runar here helped, I don't know. What I do know is Jens Petter was a breath of fresh air, he helped take us to another level, and he thrives in the big matches. -- Runar Hauge is happy to be a fringe player but he still contributes when he needs to. Plus, having Runar around is good for his brother Jens Petter. -- Rasmus Eggen Vinge had a great season for us in 2026 and I made him captain for this season. I wazs really looking forward to his contrubution this season but, unfortunately, a broken leg two months into the season was a massive blow. Rasmus is now back fit again. -- Forwards Markus Karlsbakk can play just about anywhere on the field other than defence. He always comes up big when we need him. -- We had Sigurd Haugen on trial for a long time and I'll be honest, I wasn't sure about Sigurd Haugen because his goal scoring record isn't spectacular, he's certainly not been prolific at his previous clubs, plus he wanted twice the money we could afford. After many, many, many breakdowns in contract talks, we eventually got him down from £4K per week to £2K per week and we took the chance. I'm glad we did because Sigurd was prolific for us with seven goals in six starts and one sub appearance. Sigurd's goals were a major factor in our Win-Win-Win-Win-Win end to the season. -- We had Gabriel Silva on loan from Sporting. Gabriel's a brilliant kid with bags of potential. He scored 10 goals for us in a very stop-start season due to niggly injuries and Portugal U21 call-ups. -- Former Hødd players Lucas Forsberg was outstanding at right-back for us in 2026. I didn't want to lose him but Jerv's offer of £250K was just too good to turn down. -- Like Lucas, Martin Bergum was very good for us in 2026. I wanted him in our central midfield this season but we couldn't say no to Sandnes Ulf's £240K bid when it came in. --- We had Abel Stensrud on loan from Kristiansund in 2026 and he scored 16 goals and provided eight assists for us. Abel was out of contract at the end of 2026 and joined Lillestrom in Eliteserien . We tried to loan him again but Lillestrom wouldn't entertain it. — I’ll update you on the Viking squad once I’ve officially taken up my new job as Viking manager. Stuniverse
Episode 65 - 5th December 2027 | First Day in the Job "My small entourage" -- I only have a small entourage at the moment. I asked for a small budget for staff changes during my interview and that was only enough to allow me to bring three colleagues with me from Hødd. I would have liked to have brought more so that's something I'll need to look at. This is me by the way. Look I now have a three star reputation! -- Asking Egil Ulfstein to join me at Viking was a no brainer. We had a great good-cop (me) bad-cop (Egil) thing going at Hødd and we hope to bring success to Viking just as we did at Hødd. The previous Assistant Manager, Theodor Olsson, left when Henrik Rydström was sacked. Spoiler -- It was also a no-brainer to ask Luc Nilis to come to Viking with me. Luc looked after the set-pieces for me at Hødd and we were very successful with set-pieces at both ends of the pitch. That means, unfortunately, Ørjan Steinstad was let go before I even had chance to meet him. Spoiler -- Finally, for now I as I hope to add more staff from Hødd, I asked Ida Wiberg to join me at Viking. When it comes to physiotherapy, I haven't met anybody better than Ida. Stuniverse
Episode 65 - 5th December 2027 | First Day in the Job "Oh, Mats has gone, has he?" -- I was looking forward to meeting up with Mats Ullereng who was the interim manager here pending my appointment, after previously being caretaker manager in 2026. I assumed, Mats would have gone back to his role as Head of Youth Development but, it turns out, Mats has left Viking altogether. -- It's a real shame that Mats has gone because, as interim manager, he changed to a 4-4-2 Diamond system, from the 4-2-3-1 system Henrik Rydström was using before getting sacked after the 1-2 defeat to Odd, and had great success with it - Played 8, Won 5, Drew 1, Lost 2. As we primarily played 4-2-3-1 at Hødd, I was looking forward to discussing with him why he changed from 4-2-3-1 to a 4-4-2 Diamond. I did contact Mats and offered him his previous Head of Youth Development job... but he wasn't interested. Edited February 5 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Episode 65 - 5th December 2027 | First Day in the Job "Paying Too Much on Player Wages" -- As I said earlier, we appear to have moved from Hødd with Insecure Finances to Viking with Insecure Finances. It looks like part of the financial issue is that my predecessor was £10K per week over the wage budget. With 39 first team players, 14 who couldn't be registered, that's clearly something I need to look at as a priority. It's unlikely I'll be able to bring any players in until the wage budget is under control. There are five first team players out-of-contract at the end of the season. Joe Bell has already signed a contract to join Tromsø and Muhammed Shaker has been offered a new deal, before I joined Viking, at half his current wage.
