Stuniverse
Thursday 29th May 2031 KIL/Hemne (Tier 4) v Viking (Tier 1) Norgesmesterskapet i fotball (Cupen) Second Round -- -- -- -- Look, I know this is a result that will be stapled to my football manager CV forever and a day but it was just one of those days you get in football sometimes where it just wasn't to be. It wasn't for the want of trying. We bossed possession, we created far more chances than KIL/Hemne, we stung the hands of their goalkeeper Hannes Bäck - who was magnificent by the way - far more times than they made Daniel Gjerde Sætren work, but it just wasn't to be. Bottom line KIL/Hemne found a way to score one goal and we were unable to score. We dominated the stats but, in the only stat that matters, KIL/Hemne were better than us. They scored a goal... and then they had something to hang onto, and they defended bravely and Hannes Bäck had the game of his life in their goal. We lost El Hadji Malick Diouf to a groin injury after 16 minutes and we didn't have a left-back on the bench, so right-back Brice Wembangomo came on and played there. I don't want to use that as an excuse, it's just a fact. No, I don't think that's why we lost at all. The team I selected was more than capable of winning this Cupen-tie. We didn't under-estimate KIL/Hemne, it's not that we didn't turn up, we did turn up and, daft as it sounds, we played well retaining possession, creating chances, testing the goalkeeper, we just didn't score any goals and that's what wins games. Goals win games and we didn't score any. We created enough chances to win two or three games but not today. 99 times out of 100 we win today, but today was the 100th time when KIL/Hemne and Hannes Bäck played out of their skins... and congratulations to them. Maybe starting two strikers who were on goal droughts and low on confidence was a mistake but I honestly thought both Edvin Austbø and Oscar Aga would find the net today. They didn't. KIL/Hemne did. End of. At half-time we made changes to bring some big guns on and went with an Attacking mentality. After an hour we changed to a more Attacking shape and sent the rest of our big guns on. Anders Hartveit Ryste hit the post, we peppered KIL/Hemne's goal and Hannes Bäck saved everything we threw at him. Well played KIL/Hemne and good luck to you. -- Edited May 2 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Preview -- -- That's not what I said. I agreed that Strømsgodset were a good side, playing well, and nicely placed in 8th, but I have confidence in the Viking players to get a positive result. As I said at the time, we actually played very well against KIL/Hemne, we just came up against a goalkeeper who played the game of his life and was unbeatable on the day. In Eliteserien, we're unbeaten in our last six, five wins and one draw,a nd that gives us confidence ahead of our visit to Strømsgodset's Marienlyst Stadion. -- Expected Line-up
Stuniverse
Sunday 1st June 2031 Strømsgodset (8th) v Viking (4th) Eliteserien -- -- -- -- Thank you. To be fair though, Strømsgodset started the game well and for 10, maybe 15 minutes, we struggled to get anything going attacking wise, so we decided to make some changes. We tried to Focus Play Through The Middle and put in Low Crosses and it worked, we pretty much controlled the game after that. Anders Hartveit Ryste scored the only goal of the game. In an impressive defensive display, our goalkeeper Jasper Torkildsen didn't have too much to do although we did have a scare late on when a Strømsgodset free-kick hit the bar. It's an international break now and we have four players away with Norway in different age groups. We'll give the players who aren't away a week off and then start our preparations for our home match against Sogndal. -- Edited May 2 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Preview -- -- -- Both the Sogndal squad and our squad change from game to game so I don't read anything into those records. We've trained well this week, after the players had the previous week off, and we're looking forward to hosting Sogndal at the SR-Bank Arena. The only downside to training this week were the injuries Jan Rune Hansen and Oscar Bobb picked up. Jan Rune Hansen could probably play some part of the game should we need him, but El Hadji Malick Diouf, Eivind Helland and Oscar Bobb are still some way off a return. -- Expected Line-up Edited May 2 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Sunday 15th June 2031 Viking (3rd) v Sogndal (12th) Eliteserien -- -- -- We are playing very well at the moment. Defensively we are very consistent and don't concede many goals. That gives the attacking players confidence because they know that if they score one goal it may be enough to win the match. Obviously, we want to score more goals but if we can score one, and keep a clean sheet, as we did today against Sogndal, then that's enough for three points. To be honest, this was a game with very few chances that probably would've put any neutrals watching to sleep but, for us, it was a controlled and comfortable win. We struck early when Otto Rosengren gave us the lead and Sogndal never really looked like equalising. --
Stuniverse
Preview -- -- Rosenborg are doing very well under Mesay Dego this season and we know it won't be an easy game for us at Lerkendal. It's very tight at the top of Eliteserien with only one point separating the top four teams. We go to Rosenborg today and then we host Vålerenga next weekend. We're in good form though and we're confident of going to Lerkendal and getting a result against Rosenborg. Steinar Braathen picked up a groin strain in training. Our medical team say Steinar's ok to play, but we may not risk him. Oscar Bobb is definitely ruled out but El Hadji Malick Diouf and Eivind Helland are working their way back and could play some part against Rosenborg. -- Expected Line-up -- Edited May 3 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Saturday 21st June 2031 Rosenborg (3rd) v Viking (2nd) Eliteserien -- -- -- It was a very competitive match today with not much to pick between Rosenborg and us. We had much more possession, and created more chances than Rosenborg, but we didn't test the goalkeeper enough which I seem to be saying a lot just lately. With their direct, passing style, Rosenborg were more effective from fewer opportunities. A draw was probably a fair result. Yes. It was. We thought we'd done enough to win the game but Rosenborg undid us with a set-piece after 90+3 minutes. Jakob Napoleon Romsaas is a very good player and he played well today. I just wish his free-kick had gone in for 3-1. He curled the ball over the wall, it hit the bar, bounced back against the back of the goalkeeper's legs, but their goalie reacted quickly enough to stop the ball bouncing over the line. Anders Hartveit Ryste is showing exactly why we wanted to sign him... but he'll be suspended for the Vålerenga match next weekend. It's nice, yes, but when everybody else plays tomorrow we probably won't be top by teatime. And Brann have a further game-in-hand don't forget. But the league table doesn't mean much after 11 matches, we're not even halfway through the season yet. -- Edited May 3 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Monday 23rd June 2031 A Call From My Agent -- Stuni Stuniverse: Hello, stranger. Hedda Berg: Hi ya, Stuni. How are you? Stuni Stuniverse: Good thanks, Hedda. You? Hedda Berg: Very good. Congratulations on your great start to the season. Stuni Stuniverse: Thank you. Although we should've beaten Rosenborg. I'm still annoyed about that. Hedda Berg: These things happen. You were the better team. Stuni Stuniverse: I know. That's what's so annoying. I keep questioning myself. Did those substitutions after we'd gone 2-1 up cost us? Should I have made changes in the last 15 minutes or so to protect the lead? Hedda Berg: That comes with the territory. How many decisions do you make during a football match? Hundreds. Some will come off, some won't. A good manager gets more decisions right than wrong but even the great managers get decisions wrong. Stuni Stuniverse: I know. I just think about what might have been. We were so close. Hedda Berg: Changing the subject, you've heard the news from Odd? Stuni Stuniverse: Yeah. It had been on the cards for the last few weeks. We played Odd last month, won 4-1, and they looked a very poor side. I'm disappointed for Christian Michelsen because he led them to a 5th placed finish in 2029 and I thought he was a good fit for them. Last season they finished 9th, a point off 7th, which was ok, but this season they lost 1-4 to your Vålerenga and their season has been a disaster ever since. Hedda Berg: Are you tempted? Stuni Stuniverse: I'll always be tempted, Hedda, because the Oddrane are my team. I've supported them my entire life. Maybe one day I will get to manage Odds Ballklubb but not right now. Right now, Viking are my team and I'm loving my time here. Hedda Berg: OK. I thought you'd say that but I wanted to check in with you just in case. Stuni Stuniverse: Thanks. I appreciate that. I've got a ticket for you for our home game against Vålerenga if you want it? Hedda Berg: That'd be great, thanks. Stuni Stuniverse: You need to cheer for Viking though. Hedda Berg: I can't do that. Vålerenga are in my blood like Odd is in yours. Stuni Stuniverse: The ticket's still yours. Hedda Berg: Thank you. Stuni Stuniverse: And maybe we can catch-up after the match. I'll arrange VIP access for you. Hedda Berg: That would be great. See you on Sunday. Edited May 3 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Preview -- -- -- And this season is no different, we're second, Vålerenga are fourth, just one point behind us. We're confident, but with our wonderful de mørkeblå supporters behind us in the SR-Bank Arena, anything is possible. Our top goal scorer Anders Hartveit Ryste is suspended, which is disappointing, but a number of our walking wounded have been given the green light by our medical team. Oscar Bobb is available again after a hamstring injury. If it was any other match we probably wouldn't risk him, but I think Oscar may well start against Vålerenga and we'll see how much he has in the tank. -- Expected Line-up Edited May 3 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Sunday 29th June 2031 Viking (3rd) v Vålerenga (4th) Eliteserien -- -- -- Jasper Torkildsen was superb today and we really had him to thank at 1-0 when Jasper saved Filip Bundgaard's penalty, after Aleksander Liland had needlessly handled the ball in a crowded penalty area. So far there's been no bids for Jasper, only rumours, which is good for us as we have no intention of selling him. It was far from an easy game for us and we were thankful Filip Bundgaard didn't have his shooting boots on. Not only was his penalty brilliantly saved by Jasper, but Filip also hit the bar at only 1-0 on 64 minutes. I was really pleased for Edvin Austbø as his form has been average, at best, just recently but after only 14 minutes, Vålerenga's goalkeeper denied him with a point blank save. Edvin was instrumental in Lasse Nordås breaking the deadlock on 22 minutes. After 73 minutes, Lasse returned the favour with the assist for Edvin to double our lead. We made some substitutions then, changed our shape around, and saw the game out quite comfortably. -- --

Stuniverse
Preview -- -- We're unbeaten in our last nine in Eliteserien, winning eight and drawing two so we know we're a good team and confidence is high. But we're conscious that Sandefjord are a good team themselves, and have found some form themselves after a bad run recently, so it won't be easy in the Jotun Arena. The squad is pretty healthy at the minute, a couple of fitness issues and we still need to be careful with Oscar Bobb. -- Expected Line-up Edited May 3 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Sunday 6th July 2031 Sandefjord (10th) v Viking (3rd) Eliteserien -- -- -- -- Anders Hartveit Ryste will take the plaudits with his hat-trick but the entire team was scintillating today. Wow! Wow and wow! I'm lost for words about how good we were today. We've gone top of Eliteserien after this win today but there's only goal difference separating the top three. We haven't even reached the halfway stage yet... so we have to just keep doing what we're doing and see where we get to after 30 matches. We're not going to win every game from here on in, nobody is because Eliteserien matches are very difficult to win, but we'll try to win every game. Look, we were sensational today but, let's be honest, we're not that good, and Sandefjord aren't that bad. It was just one of those games where everything we touched turned to gold. I can't speak highly enough of Isak Amundsen. He's been an absolute legend since I got here. Isak is a fantastic player and an even better human being. --

Stuniverse
Preview -- -- We're on a good run of form, unbeaten in 10 Eliteserien matches, and we're at home against rock-bottom Stabæk. With our brilliant supporters cheering us on inside the SR-Bank Arena we're confident of getting the result we want. That was almost two seasons ago. Stabæk have been relegated and promoted since then and we're a much different and, dare I say it, better team than we were back then. I'm sure Morten Berre and Stabæk will be doing everything they can to try and end their bad run of form. It's up to us to make sure that doesn't happen, at least not against us. To be fair, I have a lot of sympathy for Morten Berre. Last season Morten led Stabæk to promotion from OBOS-ligaen, losing only four games... but this season they've found it tough going in Eliteserien. It probably doesn't help that the other team promoted, Lillestrøm, are flying in fifth place. I'm sorry for Morten, but we'll approach this game professionally, as we would any other, and look to win the match. A couple of slight fitness issues but the squad have a clean bill of health. -- Expected Line-up Edited May 3 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Monday 21st July 2031 Lillestrøm (7th) v Viking (2nd) Eliteserien -- -- -- No, I'm not worried about complacency or anything like that. You saw the character and determination of the Viking players out there today, that collective desire to keep going to the end and not give in. All credit to Olof Mellberg, he has his Lillestrøm team playing with no fear and they look like there's no pressure on them. Björn Becker's long-range effort to give Lillestrøm a second minute lead was as good a goal as you'll see... and then, cheered on by the vast majority of the Åråsen Stadion crowd, Lillestrøm were very difficult to play against. We equalised through Lasse Nordås but then we lost concentration late in the first half and left Zian Flemming unmarked at the far post to score with a close range header. It was an unbelievable late comeback but that's what this Viking team is capable of. Going into added-on time at the end we were 1-2 down. Not only did we equalise on 90+3 minutes, but from Lillestrøm's kick-off, we pressed them, won back possession, and then attacked quickly and scored the winner. I must admit, despite the fact that we were creating far more chances than Lillestrøm, and testing their goalkeeper much more than they were working Jasper Torkildsen, things weren't looking good on 74 minutes when we lost Oscar Bobb with a knee problem. We rolled the dice and went for broke… and, fortunately for us, it worked. Although leaving it until 90+3 minutes for Lasse Nordås to equalise, and 90+4 minutes for Otto Rosengren to score the winner, wasn't good for my blood pressure. -- Edited May 3 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Thursday 24th July 2031 Ryste Unhappy Coaching Not Improved -- Okay, so here it comes... I'm still unsure how I ended up making this promise to Anders Hartveit Ryste. After we agreed a fee with Odd, I definitely excluded it from the contract negotiations with Anders and his agent but, before we approached Odd, I did ask his agent about availability and "improve the coaching staff" was on the list he came back with. I did say his list was acceptable so can only assume that's where this promise came from? -- -- -- -- -- -- Edited May 4 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Preview -- -- Last Meeting We're in very good form at the moment and confident going into the Molde match, although Lillestrøm gave us quite a scare last time out and I'm not sure I've fully recovered yet from our 90+ minutes added-on time heroics. They'll be another packed crowd at the SR-Bank Arena and I know our supporters will be right behind us as they always are. They give the players such a lift and we really appreciate it. I have a lot of time for Jon Dahl Tomasson. We have a couple of injuries at the moment and we may not risk Oscar Bobb. We have a surprise in store for Molde although, if they've watched our match against Lillestrøm, the last 20 minutes specifically, it won't be too much of a surprise for them. -- Expected Line-up
Stuniverse
Sunday 27th July 2031 Molde (6th) v Viking (1st) Eliteserien -- -- -- It was fascinating, to be honest, although probably not the most exciting game for a neutral as both defences were on top pretty much throughout. With Oscar Bobb not fully fit, and after how well we played in the closing few minutes against Lillestrøm, we went with a 4-2-1-3 style system but we didn't create many clear-cut opportunities. Neither did Molde to be fair. At the break, we changed to our tried and tested 4-4-2 diamond and, whilst we had a bit more threat going forward, the battle of two very good defences continued into the second half. Going into this match we'd scored 43 goals in 15 Eliteserien matches so it's a bit frustrating to have been held to nil but, truth be told, I think a 0-0 draw was fair as neither Molde nor us did enough to justify a win. --
