Stuniverse
37 minutes ago, warlock said: Flying, and a hell of a turnaround from last season. Thank you, @warlock After last season’s woes this season has been a lot more consistent and much improved. 37 minutes ago, warlock said: Keep it up Hopefully, yes. A lot depends on whether I can keep hold of my best players. Most of my strongest 11 are wanted by other clubs and every time I hit continue, it seems, I’m receiving bids for one or two of them. Some players, I’ve rejected up to 10 bids for. I’ve promised Aleksander Liland that he can go if we receive a bid of £11M and, whilst the bids haven’t reached that value yet, they are getting closer. The deluge of bids started in June, are continuing into July… and the transfer window doesn’t even open until August. So far the players are being professional and not one of them has complained yet… but I sense it’s only a matter of time… Edited July 25 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Preview - Sandefjord (away) Eliteserien -- -- We've already played in Sandefjord's Jotun Arena once this season and won 2-0 in Cupen First Round with goals from Ola Johannes Kleppa Christensen and Julian Gonstad. Sandefjord are 11th in Eliteserien this season. We're confident of going to the Jotun Arena and doing well. In my time here at Viking, we have a 100% record against Sandefjord. As the saying goes, If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Julian Gonstad and Niklas Ødegård remain sidelined and Oscar Bobb is doubtful. Sandefjord have two of our players on loan. Tor Helge Vatten has been pretty much an ever present for them this season and Krzysztof Krysiak, who's mostly been used off the bench by Eivind Kampen, has started the last two matches for Sandefjord. Stuniverse
Sunday 16th July 2034 Sandefjord (11th) v Viking (1st) Eliteserien -- -- -- We signed Lasse Nordås from Tromsø in August 2030 and he has been fantastic for us ever since. We created more than enough chances to win today and, whilst our finishing wasn't quite up to its usual standard, Sandefjord's goalkeeper Dominique Youfeigane (7.6) made some very good saves to keep it at 0-0. Sure, with the 424 system we play, we want to get as many goal scorers as high up the pitch as we can. That means, quite often, two strikers have to play out wide and Henrik Skogvold has adapted to that very well, as has Edvin Austbø. We've scored 34 goals from 15 Eliteserien matches but, unfortunately, we weren't able to score today. On 71 minutes I made our final roll of the dice and switched to a more Attacking shape and mentality but it was a game where we drew a blank. As they say though, if you can't win, don't lose. We'll take the point and move on. Only one of the two players we've loaned to Sandefjord featured. Krzysztof Krysiak (7.0) played well in left midfield for Sandefjord, but Tor Helge Vatten was an unused substitute. We played Brann recently in the Cupen Quarter Final Best i vest derby and won 4-0. New Brann manager Andreas Alm has been in charge for three Eliteserien matches. Brann won his first Eliteserien match, but have lost their last two. It's early days, but that new manager bounce hasn't happened for them yet. -- -- Evening Result Edited July 26 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Saturday 22nd July 2034 Is Liland About to Leave Viking? -- We've promised Aleksander Liland and his agent that we'll let him leave if we receive a bid of £11M. Spoiler -- We've had a lot of bids which we've rejected instantly because they were below that valuation. Spoiler -- But we've just received a bid from Al-Tai of £12.5M which may rise to £14M. That's annoying because Aleksander Liland is a brilliant player, a Norwegian player, and I don't want to lose him. But a promise is a promise so I'd best accept this bid from Al-Tai with a very, heavy, heavy heart... ... oh, wait a minute... ... what's this? ... ... his agent says Aleksander Liland isn't interested in speaking to Al-Tai... ... OK, well that's good then. I think. Stuniverse
Preview - Tromsø (home) Eliteserien -- -- Tromsø are on a nice run of form right now and have climbed to 6th in Eliteserien on the back of three straight wins and they are unbeaten in their last five Eliteserien matches. I get on very well with Timmy Simons and I'm delighted for him that Tromsø are doing so well. But he won't be getting any favours from me today. We want to win. Bill Freeman is a natural goal scorer and you can never have enough goal scorers. To get a player of Bill's quality in on a free is incredible. He'll be on the bench today as he hasn't had chance to train properly with us yet. We do have quite a few injuries, knocks and niggles right now. 2 hours ago, Stuniverse said: Friday 21st July 2034 Eliteserien Preview - Viking Face Injury Crisis -- -- Julian Gonstad and Niklas Ødegård remain sidelined and aren't back in training yet. -- Expected Line-up Edited July 26 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Sunday 23rd July 2034 Viking (1st) v Tromsø (6th) Eliteserien -- -- -- We may have been at home but we knew this was going to be a very difficult game against an in-form Tromsø side and so it proved. The SR-Bank Arena crowd had to be patient but they stuck with us and really got behind the team. Lasse Nordås scored the only goal of the game after half an hour, out-jumping Tromsø 's goalkeeper Dalibor Krstanović to head the ball into an empty net. Lasse Nordås spent nine seasons at Tromsø before signing for us and he showed his class by both scoring the goal and not celebrating it. Hans Jørgen Solberg came to see me about six weeks ago because he wasn't happy being back-up. We discussed it, I discussed it with the Team Leaders, and I've given him the gloves and the opportunity to be Viking's number one. So far, Hans Jørgen Solberg hasn't let us down. At 1-0 though you can never truly relax. Even though Hans Jørgen Solberg only had one shot to save, and Tromsø only had two attempts all game, a one-goal lead is precarious and you just never know. We were unlucky not to score more. 14 minutes - Lasse Nordås hit the bar with a direct free-kick. 70 minutes - Joakim Berg Nundal's goal was disallowed for offside because Lasse Nordås had strayed into an offside position ahead of him. I thought Bill Freeman had a very promising debut. He went close with two free-kicks, both flying narrowly over the bar, and also headed a cross into the side netting.. I get on very well with Tromsø manager Timmy Simons. We had a drink and a chat after the game and I wished him and Tromsø well for the rest of the season. -- -- Evening Result Edited July 26 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Preview - Strømsgodset (away) Eliteserien -- -- We have a very good record against Strømsgodset during my time at Viking and we're expecting a difficult game at their place. Stuniverse
Sunday 30th July 2034 Strømsgodset (7th) v Viking (1st) Eliteserien -- -- -- It was a stunning hat-trick, to be honest, after Henrik Skogvold had given us the lead on 14 minutes. Bill Freeman scored in the 22nd, 40th and 49th minutes and really showed his quality. I enjoyed the second goal the most as Bill calmly rounded the goalkeeper and rolled the ball into an empty net. Strømsgodset scored on the stoke of half-time to make it 3-1, which was a bit annoying as we switched off and let them back into it. 4-1 up, on 67 minutes, I made a few changes to give some of our younger players Øyvind Bekkevold and Biniyam Teklab playing time. Strømsgodset scored a late consolation goal on 89 minutes but we're delighted to have come to the Marienlyst Stadion and got the win. Stuniverse
Preview - Haugesund (away) Eliteserien Viking-Haugesund derby -- -- -- Julian Gonstad, who'll miss out today with an ankle issue, has been brilliant for us this season. Julian has scored 12 goals with one assist from 12 appearances, nine starts, in all competitions. His ankle injury has come at the wrong time for him really as he'd grabbed hold of a striker's starting shirt and the arrival of Bill Freeman gives me a plethora of options up front. That said, I don't want to sell Julian Gonstad and certainly not to a Molde team who are very much in the Eliteserien Title race still. Haugesund are rock-bottom, eight points adrift of safety, but they did change their manager recently in an attempt to save their season. Joachim Paulsen hasn't had much time at the helm yet and lost his first match in charge 0-2 at home to Rosenborg. This will be his second match in charge and I'm sure Joachim will have his team and the Haugesund fans fired up for a Viking-Haugesund derby in their Haugesund Sparebank Arena. I do. Local rivalries like this are what football is all about. We haven't played Haugesund much during my time at Viking due to them being in a different division, but they were promoted back to Eliteserien ahead of the 2033 season. We let our fans down last season and lost both Viking-Haugesund derbies, but we did win the reverse fixture 5-0 in our SR-Bank Arena earlier this season. We'd love to make it up to our supporters by going to the Haugesund Sparebank Arena and completing a double of Viking-Haugesund derby victories this season. Daniel Daga has passed a fitness test and will be on the bench, but we won't risk him today unless we have to. -- Expected Line-up I've had a word with Mamady Diambou as his form has been dropping off recently and he missed the Strømsgodset match last time out through suspension. Stuniverse
Saturday 5th August 2034 Molde Make Gonstad Bid -- We've received a bid of £1.3M for Julian Gonstad from Molde. Spoiler I don't particularly want to sell Julian Gonstad, and certainly not to a Molde side who are chasing us for the Eliteserien Title, but if they want to pay silly money for Julian then they can have him. I couldn't decide whether to counter with £5M or £7.5M but went for the higher value in the end as I really don't want to lose Julian Gonstad at this stage of the season. Fair enough. I'm not sure I'd pay £7.5M for Julian Gonstad either, much as I love him. Hopefully that'll be the end of this and we can go back to concentrating on the football side of things.

Stuniverse
Sunday 6th August 2034 Haugesund (16th) v Viking (1st) Eliteserien Viking-Haugesund derby -- -- -- -- I think Joachim Paulsen is just upset at losing the Viking-Haugesund derby and I can't blame him. Haugesund completely outplayed us in the first half and deserved their one-goal lead at the break and, to be fair, we had Jasper Torkildsen to thank that it wasn't more than one. We only managed two attempts on goal in the first 45 minutes and neither of them troubled Lucas Lund in Haugesund's goal. Haugesund took the lead after eight minutes, a goal that needed VAR to check for offside but the goal was awarded. We just defended sloppily in a packed penalty area. Joakim Berg Nundal's 19th minute shot clipped the outside of the post and went wide and that was as close as we got to scoring in the first half. On 43 minutes, Anders Hartveit Ryste felt his achilles but we asked him to soldier on until the break. Jesper Robertsen was one of four substitutions I made at half-time, and that shows you how annoyed I was because I don't make half-time substitutions unless I have to. We were awful in the first 45 and then some. We didn't show up, at all, and that's not like us, and I don't know why. Maybe the fact that we were playing in the evening, and Vålerenga and Molde had already won added a weight to their shoulders. I just don't know. So four substitutions, Anders Hartveit Ryste off as a precaution, Costel Tilincă off because he was on a yellow card, and both wide forwards off because... well... because they'd given us nothing. We also changed our shape and went with an Attacking mentality. Which one? There were at least two flashpoints that I can remember, both penalty shouts for us when the referee gave neither. First, on 48 minutes, VAR advised the referee to go to the monitor after Henrik Skogvold had been tripped in the penalty area but, after reviewing the footage, the referee stuck with his original decision of NO penalty. Lucas Lund made a brilliant point blank save to deny Bill Freeman on 58 minutes. And he made another flying save a minute later to keep out Lasse Nordas's long shot. On 62 minutes we swapped Lasse Nordås and Henrik Skogvold around, just to mix things up a bit, because while we were better than we were in the first half, it wasn't by much. And then we found our gear, raised our game, and things just clicked. The second flashpoint came on 63 minutes, Lasse Nordas was tripped in the penalty area. Again the referee didn't award it but, this time, thankfully, VAR overruled him. Lasse Nordas stepped up, and... ... scored from the penalty spot to level the scores. We went crazy in the technical area and the 1,000 or so of our de mørkeblå supporters inside the Haugesund Sparebank Arena burst into life. Six minutes later, Bill Freeman swept in Jesper Robertsen's low cross into the six-yard box and we had the lead. In the dugout and the technical area we went ballistic and our supporters were bouncing around like nobody's business. It was an incredible comeback after not being in the game at all first half. We reverted back to our normal 424 set-up and then in the closing minutes we made our usual changes of slowing down the tempo and wasting time to see out the match. Haugesund didn't really threaten our goal after the break and Lucas Lund made another fine save to keep out Henrik Skogvold's 87th minute shot. We are very happy with the squad we have, we've already signed Bill Freeman and Jan Rune Hansen this window and we have no plans to bring anybody else in. Of course, things can change very quickly but, hopefully, we won't lose any players either. Spoiler Milan Kral is a fine player but I have nothing further to say about any transfers in or out. Hopefully, when the transfer window closes on Thursday 31st August we will still have the same Viking squad we have now. -- Edited July 27 by Stuniverse
Hootieleece
You have truly made Viking a "Beast" almost unbeatable in Norway. Stuniverse
3 hours ago, Hootieleece said: You have truly made Viking a "Beast" almost unbeatable in Norway. We’ve had an incredible first half of the season, that’s for sure. 45 points from 18 Eliteserien matches, with only one defeat (against Valerenga), it really doesn’t get much better than that. We have to maintain it for the remaining 12 matches of the season, which will be more difficult once the UEFA Europa League fixtures come around. 3 hours ago, Hootieleece said: Even though you are transitioning players and some of your early stalwarts are just fringe players and impact subs. Yes, exactly that. There’s quite a lot of newgens starting for me now and in the matchday squad. Oscar Bobb, my first signing for Viking, a player I really, really like, my club captain, is struggling to make the matchday squad these days. But with so much interest in my best players, not just rumoured but bids I keep batting away, I’m hoping that no players depart before the window closes on 31st August. Bids for Aleksander Liland are getting very close to the £11M I’ve agreed we’ll sell him for. 3 hours ago, Hootieleece said: Are you going to keep going with Viking or try your hand at rebuilding another team to take down your creation? (I would pick Rosenborg) I honestly don’t know, @Hootieleece. I’m now into my 12th season of this save, my seventh (I think) at Viking, and that officially makes this the deepest I’ve ever gone into an FM save. I’m thoroughly enjoying it and that’s the main reason we’re still rocking and rolling. All I can really think about is winning Eliteserien again, securing a UEFA Champions League place for 2035, and possibly winning Cupen again for a double. That might sound arrogant but I honestly think this Viking team and squad is that good. Ask me again at the end of the season as I may have a better idea then. — When I began this save, I hoped to manage Odd one day and that may yet happen at some point on this save. Stuni Stuniverse is a life-long Oddrane after all. And I wouldn’t mind taking on the Norway Senior Team at some point, although I’m sure I’d soon get bored of that, but managing Norway alongside a club side could be a hoot. Oh, and yes, Rosenborg would be a very good choice, rebuilding the most successful team in Norwegian history although they’ve not had much success on this save. Rosenborg should’ve won Eliteserien last season but bottled it… and are really struggling this season. Edited July 27 by Stuniverse

Good question, @Vakama2619 Loddefjord I was sacked by Loddefjord on the 1st July 2025 and they finished bottom of PostNord-ligaen Avdeling 2 (Tier 4) that season (2025). Relegated into Norsk Tipping-ligaen Avdeling 2 (Tier 4), Loddefjord finished 4th in 2026. The following season, Loddefjord finished bottom of Norsk Tipping-ligaen Avdeling 2 (Tier 4) and at the end of 2027 they were relegated out of the playable leagues and have not returned. - Tor Martin Hegrenes was my Assistant Manager at Loddefjord and took the manager's job after I was sacked. -- Hødd I left Hødd to join Viking at the end of the 2027 season having got them promoted to Eliteserien as OBOS-ligaen Champions. The Viking Board allowed me to remain with Hødd for the last eight OBOS-ligaen fixtures and join Viking at the end of the 2027 season. That was a great gesture by the Viking Board and I was very appreciative. Unfortunately, Hødd finished rock bottom of Eliteserien in 2028. In 2029, Hødd finished 4th and lost to Asker in the Playoff SF. 2030 In 2031, Hødd finished 6th and beat Aalesund in the Playoff QF before losing to Hønefoss in the SF. In 2032, Hødd finished 6th again and beat Hønefoss in the Playoff QF before losing to HamKam in the SF. 2033 2034 - Current Season But this season, fingers crossed, under former Molde manager Andreas Alrek, Hødd are in pole position for promotion back to Eliteserien. Stuniverse
Preview - Vålerenga (home) Eliteserien -- -- We're under no illusions about the size of the task that faces us today. We've played Vålerenga a lot during my time here at Viking and they've always been very competitive and very tough matches. We've only lost one domestic match this season, in all competitions, and that was 0-2 away to Vålerenga in their Intility Arena earlier this season. That match was a game we dominated and controlled for large periods, but we didn't have our shooting boots on. Hopefully, in our own SR-Bank Arena, we'll have our shooting boots on today. Local rivalries are all well and good, and I love them don't get me wrong, but there can be a disparity in quality between local rivals at times whereas with competitive rivalries, by the very nature of the fact that they're competitive, they are going to be very close and tough encounters. Vålerenga won Eliteserien last season and they'll be hurting that we have a 10 point gap at the top of Eliteserien right now with 12 matches left to play. To be fair, I think the pressure is all on Vålerenga today. If they win, the gap will be seven points with 11 matches to go but, if we win, then we open up a 13 point lead and that, obviously, is what we hope happens today that we beat Vålerenga in front of our own supporters and effectively knock them out of the title race. And Vålerenga have the added pressure of only being ahead of Molde on goal difference. Only Rosenborg have a higher average attendance than us this season and when our SR-Bank Arena is full, and our wonderful de mørkeblå supporters are behind us, the stadion is a cauldron of noise and really rocks. Even now I get goosebumps. We'll need our fans to lift the team again today and we're confident of getting a positive result against Vålerenga. Niklas Ødegård is still some way off a return And Costel Tilincă misses out against Vålerenga as he's suspended. -- Expected Line-up Edited July 28 by Stuniverse
Stuniverse
Sunday 13th August 2034 Viking (1st) v Vålerenga (2nd) Eliteserien -- -- -- Yes, to concede a late equaliser like that was disappointing, more so given that the on-field officials disallowed Vålerenga's late equaliser for offside, only for VAR to overrule them. But, I suppose, if VAR corrected an error then fair play to them. Look, it is, but the important thing was to not lose to Vålerenga today and we didn't lose. So Vålerenga haven't gained any ground on us and we're still very much in pole position. It was a great goal, Daniel Daga hit it from over 20-yards out and it flew into the net to give us a 2-1 lead. Having fallen behind to a 5th minute counter-attack from Vålerenga, Edvin Austbø equalised four minutes later, sweeping in Jesper Robertsen's low cross, and then Daniel Daga had the SR-Bank Arena rocking when he gave us the lead. On 36 minutes Henrik Skogvold headed a Mathias Fjørtoft Løvik free-kick against the far post. Henrik Skogvold made it 3-1 early in the second half and it's disappointing we couldn't go on and win the game from there. But I think you have to give Vålerenga a lot of credit for keep going and they pulled one back on 67 minutes and equalised with that controversial VAR overruled goal on 87 minutes. I would have taken a draw before the game with Vålerenga so I can't be too disappointed but, yes, we ought to have won this one. But it's probably on me. I took Aleksander Liland off at 3-1 and then Ove Benjamin Modell at 3-2 because they were both one yellow card away from suspension. Maybe if I'd kept hem on we might have won but that's possibly harsh on Per Joar Hægstad Johnsen and Jan Rune Hansen who replaced them. Maybe I shouldn't have made so many substitutions on 78 minutes? Maybe I shouldn't have slowed the tempo and played for time near the end but those tactics have helped us see other games out for a win. At the end of the day, we're 10 points ahead of Vålerenga with 11 left to play and I'd rather be in our position than theirs. Edvin Austbø grew up in the Viking Academy and he's been brilliant for me. Edvin is a pleasure to work with and I can't speak highly enough of him. -- -- Evening Result Edited July 28 by Stuniverse
