Midfield 3

DMs. 2 x SVs, Sup or Att. 1 BWM Def or Sup. MCs are gash, DM all the way.Either more direct or shorter depending on what you want. Take more risks.

I run the above, 2 PF Att, 1 AF Att. 2 SVs Att, 1 BWM Sup. Both DCs on Cover. PFs set to go wide.

Lots of options. If you prefer a 4-3-3 formation then I would use:

  1. DM = Stay at home DM = AM(d) or HB(d) or DM(d) or BWM(d)
  2. CM = Playmaker = AP(s) or RPM(s)
  3. CM = Runner = CM(a) or BBM(s) -- You could use a second playmaker here if you really wanted to.

For a 4-2-3-1, I would use either:

  1. DM = Holding midfielder = A(D) or DM(d) or BWM(d)
  2. DM = Playmaker = DLP(s) or RPM(s) or REG(s)
  3. AM = Aggressive secondary scoring option = SS(a) or AM(a)

Or:

  1. DM = Holding midfielder = A(D) or DM(d) or BWM(d)
  2. DM = Runner = SV(a)
  3. AM = Playmaker = AP(s)

Ultimately, your midfielders are only going to deliver a lot of good through balls if they have the appropriate traits and attributes. Even then, they require a lot of good off the ball movement from the front three and a cooperative opponent who isn't just sitting back conservatively.
