Hoarau
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- South American football? Pele or Maradona? R9 or Messi? This lovely part of the world has given us players who will be argued about until the end of time as to who is the best player ever, but there's so much more to enjoy and appreciate. Some of the unquestionable hero's of FM have come from here, personally I am a huge nerd for Argentinian football, stemming back to watching Batistuta & Veron tear up Italian football on Channel 4 every Sunday. Since then I've always kept a close eye through FM as to the who's who and by doing this its lead me to appreciate some of the other nations that make up the bat **** crazy world of South American football. Peru, Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador are now some of the first places I check out to see who next player is going to become a cult hero...I'm looking at you Yuriel Celi & Gerard Tavara... To appreciate what is to come, we have to admire what lead the way... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What Came Before..... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So here we are for FM24, another exciting time with so many new promising talents plying their trade in the glorious eco system that is South America. Please feel free to post any players you find regardless of level as we all play in such a wide verity of leagues that I'm sure someone could use em. Don't just think this thread is for all those wonderkids either, I love signing a grizzled 32 year old and having him see out his last couple of years on top! I'm going to try and be a lot more active in these forums this year as scouting and finding new players is my absolute favourite aspect of the game. I've came across a good few already, some more well known than others, I'll post the first two in my next post. Hopefully we can keep this active and see some well know wonderkids, hidden gems and old workhorses.
Hoarau
Name : Daniel Ruiz Club : Millionairos (Columbia) Nationality : Columbian Age : 22 Sale Range : Under £1m Status : A nifty wee winger who likes to cut in from either side, with some decent coaching he could improve a number of his important stats should increase to a decent level. ***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Germam Berterame Club : Monterrey (Mexico) Nationality : Argentinian Age : 24 Sale Range : No more than £1.2m Status : Strong with either foot which is a favourite trait of mine, solid in the air and decent enough pace. He took a while to settle in at Rangers for me but since then he's got 12 goals in 12 games. I'm hoping he's still got some room to improve slightly given age is on his side. Could be a bargain pick up for someone not playing in the top, top leagues. Edited October 26, 2023 by Hoarau
Ronaldo Beckham
Great idea for a thread. Some insane talent in South America. Whenever I manage in Spain or Portugal I tend to only sign South American players so I will keep an eye on this thread.
Gee_Simpson
What do you guys load up in terms of leagues and players? I'm buying a new PC for FM24 so I'll be able to run more than what I can atm.

Yeah I tend to custom the database and select the continent of South America - All players of nationality (although all players at top teams will get your most of them as well), I do the same for Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, some African nations and Asia. Hoarau
Name : Benjamin Rollheiser Club : Estudiantes (Argentina) Nationality : Argentinian Age : 23 Sale Range : Can be negotiated to a structured deal of less than £3.2m Status : A former River Plate wonderkid he seems to have went away and really put in the work to become a very handy player. Still at a good age so could develop further, at the price range he's defiantly a an investment worth making. ************************************************************************************************************************************************* Name : Yerson Chacon Club : Deportivo Táchira (Venezuelan) Nationality : Venezuelan Age : 20 Sale Range : Less than £1m if negotiated Status : Still looks like a prospect, 20 now and remains in his homeland which gives him a bit of experience of first team football. Passing needs a bit of work but he's so young and already with a base of very decent attributes. Good with both feet, can play on either wing. Great project player to pick up for a extremely reasonable fee. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************* Name : Jesus Polo Club : Liga de Quito (Ecuador) Nationality : Ecuadorian Age : 16 Sale Range : Unknown, possible negotiated deal of less that £3m Status : Determination is the only concern I have here, not sure if it's random in different saves. He has a lot of important attributes for the modern WB/IWB.. oh and did I mention he's only 16, solid investment although if you agree a deal he won't join until he's 18. *********************************************************************************************************************************************
Hoarau
Need a solid, battle hardened CB for a very reasonable fee, look no further.... Name : Alexander Barboza Club : Libertad (Paraguay) Nationality : Argentinian Age : 28 Sale Range : Free (or deal for less than 30K) Status : Few big Argentinian clubs sniffing about him at game start so be quick, offers a solid no nonsense approach. Pace is perhaps an issue in the top, top leagues but with the right role set up and partner(s) he could be a solid pick up. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Name : Juan Escobar Club : Cruz Azul (Mexico) Nationality : Paraguayan Age : 28 Sale Range : Less that £300k Status : Love the big man, a bargain fee for my cash strapped Rangers side and he offers a much different option in the centre of defence than the donkeys we have from the jump. Solid all round attributes for his position, can cover out on the RB strata as an IFB to offer cover. Can't recommend enough. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************* Name : Tomas Cardona Club : Defensa y Jutsicia (Argentina) Nationality : Argentinian Age : 28 Sale Range : Negotiated I'd say less than £1.5m Status : Another generally solid Argie CB for a reasonable fee. He has everything in the right pace, potentially as issue with decisions at vital times. Decent pick up. ************************************************************************************************************************************** Edited October 26, 2023 by Hoarau
Hoarau
These three are well know wonderkids but they deserve their moment in the sun, I'll never be able to afford the in my beta save with Rangers but any league above the SPL should be look at them. These are the type of players we love South American football for... Name : Alexander Aravena Club : Univ. Catolica (Chile) Nationality : Chilean Age : 21 Sale Range : Anywhere between £15m-£20m potentially Status : Wonderkid. He's who I want to manage the most this FM, just looks so dangerous already. His physicals are always a worry and he isn't blessed with lighting pace but technically he's could be lethal. For some reason i see him as very much a player Benfica or Brighton would pick up. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Valentin Barco Club : Boca Jnrs (Argentina) Nationality : Argentinian Age : 19 Sale Range : Has an £8m release clause at the start of game(Potentially this was an addition to a new contract) Status : If what I read has an traction he's Manchester City bound in real life so pick him up while you can. The most Scottish looking Argentinian I've ever seen, thankfully does not play like one. Look at those attributes already at 19, potentially world class? I'd say so. *********************************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Claudio Echeverri Club : River Plate (Argentina) Nationality : Argentinian Age : 17 Sale Range : Negotiate to around the £6m mark possibly Status : Love River Plate and so glad to see them produce more silky, skilful little enigma's in the Saviola, Aimar, Gallardo mould. Echeverri is a very exciting talent in real life and this is mirrored in FM this year, at 17 he looks to have the world at his feet with some solid attributes for his age. Again not sure if the determination is random from save to save so that's something to look out for. *********************************************************************************************************************************************************** Edited October 26, 2023 by Hoarau
Hoarau
No we move onto some players that are at least new to me this FM, a couple of real bargains in here as well as some very exciting projects. Name : Franco Gonzalez Club : Penarol (Uruguay) Nationality : Uruguayan Age : 19 Sale Range : Less than £2m if negotiated well. Status : This lad excites me, so many great attributes for someone his age, especially that work rate. Very well rounded and at an age where you can guide him to become pretty much whatever role you want. ************************************************************************************************************************************************* Name : Augustin Giay Club : San Lorenzo Nationality : Argentinian Age : 19 Sale Range : £3.4m release clause Status : Bargain alert. Can't go wrong with a 19 wing back for £3.4m... He has solid attributes EVERYWHERE, I like this lad a lot. ****************************************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Jhojan Torres Club : Idependiente Santa Fe (Columbia) Nationality : Columbian Age : 20 Sale Range : Negotiated I'd say less than £2m Status : Like a sugar free, diet Moses Caicedo. Solid all round stats with room to grow and not real holes. Decent with both feet which I like. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************
Hoarau
Last post of the day from me, apologies to the mods for the pic heavy, multiple posts, wasn't sure it would all fit in one. More fire from the Latin hot bed, this time finally someone form Brazil!! Name : Jordhy Thompson Club : Colo Colo (Chile) Nationality : Chilean Age : 19 Sale Range : Less than £2m if negotiated well Status : Look at that determination! Hopefully it's not random from save to save as this boy looks a talent. Technical, bit of pace, bit of vision and room to improve. Definite pick up for me. ********************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Moses Ramirez Club : Independiente del Valle Nationality : Ecuadorian Age : 23 Sale Range : Less than £1m negotiated Status : I know what you're going to say... that eccentricity? I know, I know but he looks so good elsewhere. Another product of this amazing youth set up at Independiente del Valle, no cray fee or wage demands. Worth a punt. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************* Name : Gabriel Moscardo Club : Corinthians (Brazil) Nationality : Brazilian Age : 18 Sale Range : Less than £10m Status : Finally a Brazilian!!! To be fair, I haven't cast my eye Brazil much in my current beta save due to being no where near able to pay the fees. It is somewhere I will delve into as it has some major prospects again. As far as Moscardo goes he looks like a Rolls Royce of a player, has everything and room to grow. I'd grab him before Real Madrid or Pep does. **********************************************************************************************************************
Ronaldo Beckham
Thank you for the great posts @Hoarau. No need to apologies as I think it enhances the thread when you can see real photos of the players. fidelitywars
Typical raft of Peruvians with very interesting technical attributes but pretty obvious physical/mental weaknesses: Couple of decent options in Ecuador: Few from Paraguay: Interesting teenage playmaker from Uruguay:
Hoarau
More finds from South America here, varying levels as always so some will reach the top others will do the job in the lesser fancied leagues. Name : Brian Aguirre Club : Newell's Old Boys (Argentina) Nationality : Argentinian Price Range : Roughly £5m+ Review : A diminutive, tricky playmaker who comes off the wing, fantastic spread of stats for his age and doesn't cost a fortune. ***************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Marcelo Allende Club : Sundowns (South Africa) Nationality : Chilean Price Range : Less than £1m Review : I actually managed to get this guy to Rangers and he's been a revelation from the jump. Can play in so many positions across the top end of the field, very adaptable. Still a good age with good attributes in key areas. *************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Anderson Duarte Club : Defensor Sporting (Uruguay) Nationality : Uruguayan Price Range : Structured deal can be done for less than £2m. Review : Gives me budget Darwin Nunez vibes, young with plenty room to develop so worth a punt. Mentals are a worry and not sure if that determination is random or not. ******************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Talles Magno Club : NYCFC (USA) Nationality : Brazilian Price Range : Deal of around £6m-£7m should get him Review : Most folk are aware of him already, he looks just as good this year and is destined for the top. Need to be quick to grab him as he's wanted off the bat. Traditional tricky Brazilian who can operate off both flanks. **************************************************************************************************************************** Name : David Martinez Club : Monagas S.C. (Venezuela) Nationality : Venezuelan Price Range : Roughly £400k Review : Only 18 with loads of room for improvement, plays across all three slots behind a front man. Very solid attribute spread at a young age. *************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Cristian Medina Club : Boca Juniors (Argentina) Nationality : Argentinian Price Range : Under £9m Review : Odd natural position with that MR, I'd personally get him in the middle possible as a BBM or CM S or A. To be honest he's got enough about him he could be moulded into a few roles. ********************************************************************************************************************************* Name : Tiago Palacios Club : M.C. Torque (Uruguay) Nationality : Argentinian Price Range : Under £2m Review : Solid, young utility option with all those natural positions. Fee & wage demands are very reasonable, mentals are the week area but those technicals mean there is a player there. ************************************************************************************************************************************ Name : Piero Quispe Club : Universitario (Peru) Nationality : Peruvian Price Range : Under £600k Review : There's a player in here, not top league but he has some solid stats to make him a problem somewhere. ************************************************************************************************************************ Name : Pablo Solari Club : River Plate (Argentina) Nationality : Argentinian Price Range : Around the £5m mark should get him. Review : Not sure if he's good enough or if I'm just blinded by the memories of his dad, solid if nothing spectacular. ********************************************************************************************************************* Name : Rodrigo Villagra Club : Tallares (Argentina) Nationality : Argentinian Price Range : A lot, near that £9m/£10m mark. Review : Who doesn't love a grizzled, aggressive Argie DMC? Extremely solid all round, another favourite of mine this year.

I started a Villareal save and signed quite a few that you have reccomended. Here are some of them. Aravena and Luciano Rodriguez have had the best impact so far. Barco is annoyed that he aint being played in his best position which is a shame as he seems like a good talent. He has asked for a transfer but nobody can afford him at the moment. Even if they do sign him for £43m he is valued at I would have made a massive profit on him.
Hoarau
@Ronaldo Beckham Awesome to see, very jealous that you've managed to get Aravena as I'm yet to get the chance to manage him yet. He was on my list of signings for them on FM23 but I decided to wait for FM24 to start with them. Medina looks good and I agree that he definitely looks more of a CM. If I went for him I would probably play him at DM in a 4-2-3-1. He looks like he could be retrained there quite easily, which would then focus his attribute development towards that position more.
kopfan1977
I also found Duarte by accident. I'd signed the young lad Franco Gonzalez who wanted me to sign someone to help him settle (Part of the terms to get him to sign) and went trawling Uruguay hoping for a bargain, Duarte will be that guy. £2.4m upfront. Instantly jumped to £33-37m value.. Now that's what I love to see. His versatility will come in handy over the course of my first season in the premier league. Exactly who I'll be signing him for, he's the proto-perfect Benfica target. Great minds think alike as i thought the same with Medina, his current age and attributes spread make him perfect for moulding. Gonna be a fun save in Portugal with all these South American's. @kopfan1977 to be honest that's how I've found a few of these, recommended one that then leads to the others. Hoping there's a tone more when the full game drops as SA is proving again to be a gold mine.
Ronaldo Beckham
I can't remember if he has been mentioned already but Gianluca Prestianni looks like a proper talent in the making. steveb520
I managed to pick up Aravena for my Norwich save for 4.5M, despite Genoa trying to outbid me. Hoarau
Another screenshot heavy post from me here, I do apologise. Loving the talent in South America this year. ********************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Augutin Ruberto Club : River Plate (Argentina) Nationality : Argentinian Sale Range : At the most a couple of million start of game. Status : River Plate never fail to produce and this boy looks special. *************************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Jeremias Perez Tica Club : Newell's (Argentina) Nationality : Argentina Sale Range : Another one who could be grabbed for a modest fee at game start. Status : Very similar to Ruberto but obviously slightly older, a solid collection of stats, some concerns like work rate & team work, bit of a maverick... we all need one of them in our side! ************************************************************************************************************************************* Name : Luciano Rodriguez Club : Liverpool F.C. (Uruguay) Nationality : Uruguayan Age : 19 Sale Range : Less than £2m if negotiated well. Status : I like a player who offers flexibility tactically, both footed and can play 3 positions well. Mentals need work of course but he has age on his side. ******************************************************************************************************************************* Name : Bruno Mendez Club : Corinthians (Brazil Nationality : Uruguayan Sale Range : Bit pricey, but if done well can be under £10m. Status : Animal, the difference he made in my defence when I brought him to Rangers was massive. All round a solid CB and does not hide from a challenge. Can recommend enough. **************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Marlon Gomes Club : Vasco de Gama (Brazil) Nationality : Brazilian Sale Range : Another pricey one here, think I got him for around £11m Status : Worth it though, a real creative spark. Fits all across than front 3 behind a striker, the combo of first touch, technique and dribbling make him a joy to watch in this match engine. *********************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Pablo Maia Club : Sao Paulo (Brazil) Nationality : Brazilian Sale Range : Unknown Status : Wish my scouts had seen this lad before he went to Chelsea, looks a solid DMC. ********************************************************************************************************************************** Name : Beraldo Club : Sao Paulo (Brazil) Nationality : Brazilian Sale Range : unknown Status : Oh man, another one I really wish my scouts had alereted me too. What a prospect he looks. Solid everywhere with great looking physicals. Good mentals already aswell.
